Hi All this is my story,
Ive been struggling with my weight for as long as I could remember and after a great deal of reserach I decided to get the band. I was banded in July of 2010 and couldn't be more happy. I was in love with debbie.(thats what I call my band) she was perfect. we had our ups and downs but ultimately out relationship was great until it wasnt. Although we got along just fine I wasnt losing as much weight as I had hope but I knew it all came with hard work which i wasnt always putting in. I started out at 277lbs and got as low as 224. 53lbs lost.
Although it wasnt what I expected i was still soo very happy with what we accomplished together. about a few months ago I started getting really sick. it didnt matter what i ate it was coming back. even if I drank water it would come back and on top of that I had really bad heart burn and each time i burped it smelt terrible like something died. Embarrassing much?? At first I thought maybe i needed to slow it down so i did but to my surprise when i stepped on the scale I was 233.... WHAT! I gained weight. I stayed at that weight for about a month and a half and then I felt it. I dont know about u guys but when I start gaining weight I could feel it almost as its coming on. My body tingles as if its trying to send me a message. right then I knew i had to do something cause there was no way in hell I was gonna go back down that road. I came too damn far. I dieted exercised and the whole nine and nothing changed. Frustrated, I went back to the doctor and explained what was going on. Right away he scheduled an upper GI and he took some of the fluid out because he thought maybe my band may have been too tight but how could it be when all the time we were ok? I was able to eat just fine until a few months ago. Anyway the upper GI revealed my band slipped. I was soo disappoined. I cried for hours. I didnt want to get rid if Debbie. we've been through so much together more importantly I didnt want to gain the weight back. My doctor told me that he wanted to get me in the O.R as soon as possible to get the issue fixed but thats not all he told me. He mentioned that I might be better off with the sleeve. I was a little un easy with the thought of 2/3 of my stomach being removed. Naturally i started doing some research hence the reason im on this site. So far Ive been reading nothing but good things about the sleeve, Im schedule for surgery on the 18th of October so it seems me and Debbie will be parting ways after all but Im excited to be starting this new journey!!!
