Hi! New to the site! I have been overweight my entire life. I started losing my weight journey in 2001 when my gyn doc put me on Adipex. I took those for about a month or two. Then my primary doc told me to stop taking them because of blood pressure. So I joined this program, LA Weight. Loss about 80lbs. with them spent years spending money with them and said I'll never have WLS! Tried over programs as I moved to and from different states( Quick Weight Loss, WW 3 times, Atkins and South Beach). In 2005, started taking Phentermine again through online Pharmacies along with doing LAWL again. Did that for about a year. Finally stopped and gained all the weight back. S…

Hey guys! My name is Krystina and I am 23 years old. After several failed attempts to lose weight on my own and with the assistance of various diet and exercise programs, I decided in April to consult a surgeon about having lap band surgery. Per my insurance, I do have to do a physician supervised 6 month diet and exercise program, but that should be the only major hoop I have to jump through prior to getting approval for the surgery. I'm really excited to be joining this community and meeting some people who are going through similar struggles. People in my life either at work or in my personal life can be a little less than helpful a lot of times and it's seriously…

Hello Everyone, I am currently in the process of considering the sleeve. I have been researching for about 5 months. I have my psyc evaluation tomorrow. I will have my surgery done at a military hospital. There is no cost to me. I have struggled with my weight for at least 10 years. I feel like it is out of control. I really did not realize how bad it was until my PCM suggested WLS. This was a wake call for me. My process has really been quick. It has not taken me long to go through the process. Dr. Comer (I think this is correct) said he could have me scheduled earlier this month. However I had to wait 3 weeks for a psyc evaluation. I am in Mississippi. Let me know i…

When I was pre op and newly post I scoured the forum for pics so I thought I'd share! About a month before surgery. The day after my surgery. Taken today 82 pounds down and about 80 more to go!

Hi, I'm Allen from Minnesota. I'm 39 years old, stand 5'11.5", and started this journey at 258 lbs. (BMI 35.5, and I have type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, and high cholesterol). I hope to reach a weight of about 200 lbs. (BMI 27.5) in a couple of years. Both my endocrinologist and my surgeon tell me that I can expect to have at least partial resolution if not remission of my diabetes very soon after surgery. Honestly, that alone would make the surgery worth it, even aside from any weight loss. I am looking forward to getting banded by Dr. Baker at Unity probably some time between Hallowe'en and Thanksgiving. My date will be scheduled once I get approved by Blue Cro…

It happened! Last week I got authorization from my insurance. And today I got my surgery date.... October 22, 2012! Too excited to be nervous yet. But I do have a question for all you post ops. At some time down the line, I'm bound to get the stomach flu. Just how does the throwing up in that kind of situation work? I mean the stomach will be so small, but with the flu, you vomit so much. I realize this is a bizarre question and totally putting the cart before the horse, but I'm just that kind of girl. Questions, questions, questions!

Hi all, Haven't signed in in a while but after the forums lovely birthday message ( I figured I'd come back and say hello and share my experience. I was originally banded in April of 2010. Lost a lot threw up a lot more and band slipped. Revision was done in November of 2012. Women's intuition sent alarm bells ringing recently and I insisted on an esophagram before any more adjustments... Looks like my band slipped again -it wasn't even at full restriction this time. I'm freaked out -I just turned 23 I don't want to be going to surgery every 10 months! Did anyone else have this experience and what happened? Was the band removed? Thanks-and good luck all! A

Im scared of the pain afterward, & I keep thinking Im not going to ever enjoy food again ! My daughter told me "Are you living to eat..or Eating to live" !! Pretty smart thinking for a 15yr old! LOL I know there is going to be some pain involved, but I dont want to ever think Ive made a mistake by doing this! Has anyone ever gone through these feeling that Im experiencing? Hi Everyone: I have been going to exercise classes 2x a week in preparation for my sleeve next month. I also try to do something extra like workout at home whether it's Zumba Exilerate, Just Dance II, III, Gold's Gym Cardio Wii workout, use my shake weight, weights and exercise ball while watching tv, go bike riding, etc. I noticed not many people from my support group stay for exercise class and it's ashame. I am not looking forward to loose skin that's what motivates me. I know I will need surgery afterwards in my belly area, but as far as my arms and legs, I am tight already and will continue to exercise even harder the next 3 wks until surgery. I also believe exerc…

I had a fill last Tuesday 9/11 (I am now up to 5.75 cc in my band). I felt great until yesterday afternoon 9/17 after I took a half of a vitamin it felt like it scratched my throat and I have been sore ever since. I am having a hard time keeping solid food down. I do not know what is wrong. Anyone ever had this problem? I do not think my band is too tight because it felt fine and I was eating solid foods fine until after I took that darn pill.

My surgery was not sceduled until tomorrow. My doctor called me last week and was if I could move it up to last Thursday. With my juggling with my job and responsibilities it happened. I truely believe this was GODs way of getting me through the surgery. I had spent the weekend before reading a lot of everyone's post and truth be told had almost talked myself out of surgery. I went in at 11 am to forest park medical plaza in Dallas Texas. ( The Westin of all hospitals) my husband asked me If I paid for a VIP suite. The place is amazing! I was bad I was "working " till they rolled me in and knocked my butt out. Three hours later my husband said the surgeon came out…

My name's Lacey, I'm 25, and I have my surgery on Friday. I'm super excited, but also terrified. I keep thinking it won't work and I'll go through all of this for nothing. I know a lot of it depends on me. The thing is I'm a pretty healthy eater. I love my salads and vegetables, but sometimes I just have the craving for Taco Bell or a giant Dr. Pepper. But I want to do this. The things I have to change or "give up" really aren't that difficult for me. I was skinny my whole life until in my twenties I steadily started gaining weight and we couldn't figure out why. Last year I was diagnosed with PCOS. To fix it I was put on birth control, which didn't help any with my weigh…

I am fairly diligent when it comes to checking most of the forums. And whenever I go to pre surgery I either forget I already had it out I think to myself, boy I remember how that felt! It is so crazy. I need to wrap my head around what I have loss and not focus so hard on what I have to lose. I get stressed when I am feeling sick and can't go to the gym. My resolve was to go every day but it seems like something stops me every couple of days. Either I had a bad food intake day and felt sick the entire day which made me exhausted or the exercise on the treadmill made me hurt around my big insison. I feel like I am making excuses even though they are real reasons. I don't …

I had to make a post because I'm so stinkin' excited! I'm just a little past my half way mark! I have 54 pounds to go to reach my goal weight! A weight I've never seen as an adult! I am beyond happy at this point with my decision to have this surgery. I have moments of frustration, but... it's been so worth it. I've now lost 58 pounds, I'm off all medication, except acid reducer at 20 mg once a day. My PCOS is still showing up in my bloodwork, but my results came back with vast improvements! Next time it won't be there! My blood pressure and cholesterol are perfect. I bought some size 18 pants thinking they'd fit better than the baggy 20's I started with, and t…

Yesterday my paperwork was submitted to my insurance and I got word that they want me to complete 6 month of supervised weight loss. We submitted 7 months of me seeing a nutritionist/ dietician along with monthly weigh in and food logs. So now I have to do 6 more months because a doctor didn't do my weigh in. I feel like giving up. Sorry for the rant. Sent from my iPad using RNYTalk

first of all hello to everyone. my name is eric and this is my first post here thought i would post my experience. it was nothing out of the ordinary i really didnt have any complications. except my surgery was about 3 hours because i also had an imbelical hernia fixed and the hernia was bigger than the dr expected. didn't really have any pain stomach wise in recovery. just my back realy hurt and i wanted to sit up but they wouldnt let me. so for me i didnt have any actuall pain more of a sore feeling . felt like i was hit in the stomach with a baseball bat! i even asked the dr if a baseball bat was one of his tools and he said no a 2x4 O_o . i was walking to the bathroom…
