So I think I'm back to loosing again. It's been two whole weeks since I've moved an ounce. I am officially down two pounds this week. I think I got more frustrated because I am still pre op and this is the hardest thing I have down by far. Changing all my eating habits and not being able to eat for emotions and stress is so hard!! Then I got this stall and I felt hopeless!! But now that I can see I'm loosing again I feel like all hope isn't lost!! I only have 6 measly pounds to go and it feels like its a million. I just want to get the ball rolling. Get my insurance papers in and what ever else needs to be done so I can get a date. I am So jealous of everyone who has had …

Today is the 14th day post op and I had a family gathering. I have in and had a few bites of pizza, chocolate and ice cream! I chewed well but didn't wait 1 min between each bite! I'm stressing as I don't know if I've done any serious damage. Does this mean I've stretched my stomach, band??? I wanted to force myself to throw everything up but then got even more scared I'd move the band! Am I meant to feel pain? What are the signs I've ruined it. I was doing so well! It wasn't even hunger just head hunger and temptation cause its been so long. Do I need to inform my surgeon ASAP?

I am currently doing my 6 month medically supervised diet. I had my first check-in with my doctor on 8/13/13. I gained two pounds. Ugh! This 6 month diet is an insurance requirement. My question is: what is my insurance company expecting from me during this diet? Do they want to see that I can stick to a diet and lose weight to prove that I can handle the post-op diet, or are they just confirming that I cannot lose weight on a diet? My diet consists of 1800 calories a day and I'm not even coming close to that. I've also been walking/running on a regular basis. Please advise on what the insurance company wants to see. Thanks!

I am just starting the journey, I have completed my BMI test, I have my referral letter and have started my physician monitored weight loss. I will go to orientation on 8/19. I am doing things a little backward because I signed up for the wrong orientation class so I just continued on with everything else since it was all scheduled. After Monday I can submit my referral letter and wait for them to sign me up for my surgeon visit. I am hoping for a January surgery date!

Ok, I just got the revision packet from the surgeon's office I have been considering for my revision surgery. Overall, the packet is pretty standard, asks all the standard stuff for your background- but on the first page it states that there is a non-refundable $500 fee to cover costs NOT COVERED by insurance. They say it is to pay for them to submit the insurance approval, post-op (support group) and misc. fees. I'm sorry, but even though this Dr. is FACS, ASMBS and I have check his state licensing board (no negative remarks), and has lots of people who have talked well of him. I don't know if this is a new fee to recoup costs that he doesn't get from the negotiated…

I've been browsing these forums for about a month trying to get my finger on what actually goes on with the sleeve. With the information that I have learned from you guys, I have decided that when it finally happens, the sleeve is the way I want to go. I have had my initial consultation, and done the psych eval and just completed the upper GI requested by the surgeon last week. Now I am patiently waiting for the next step... hopefully I will hear something from them soon.

Hello Everyone, i have joined VST for about 2 weeks and i must say it was a great help in my pre-op with all these encouraging stories. i am Ahmed a 34 year old Egyptian living in Dubai, i have been suffering obesity for a long time cant even remember since when !. all i can remember is i have been trying to lose weight for years and years with no success, the even worse is that along those years with all the short term success of losing some KG's overall i was actually gaining more and more, last year when i hit 126KG it was a shock and i decided that i need to do something different this time, i have been discovering the surgery option for months and was always set t…

Dear body- As I sit here just a little more than 48 hours from my surgery day, I am thinking about you...there have been so many times over the years when I looked upon you in disdain, and, body, I am sorry for that. It wasn't you...it was me. It was the emotional part of me that found food as a comfort for the times I was lonely, the times I was sad, the times I was rewarding myself for any number of things...the disdain I had was for me, not you. Truly, body, you deserve my praise and appreciation...I appreciate that over the last 15 years, as the numbers have crept up on the scale and now top 300 pounds, that you have taken it all in stride and not (yet) succumbed to…

Hi all, just wanted to introduce myself, Im due to be sleeved on the 20th May, by Dr France in Adelaide, South Australia. I had my lapband removed in November after nearly 7 years. The band worked fine in the beginning, I lost about 35 kilos, but started to suffer severe reflux, then once i had the band deflated to sort that out i could never get good restriction, i could either eat everything or not even get Water down depending on the day. This went on for a couple of years while the reflux returned time and time again...... and I have regained nearly all the weight After reading a number of posts on this forum, Ive realised im nowhere near alone with this experienc…

To me the most daunting part of this whole experience was going to be the 2 week pre-op diet. Here's the scary part. My surgery is August 26th. That means as of this morning I am starting the anxiety invoking, terrifying, I hope I can do it, I have to do it 2 week diet. In these 2 weeks I am going to wean myself off of coffee (my taste of heaven every morning, noon and night). I plan on making it weaker and weaker by adding more fat free milk. Until it is more like milk with a splash of coffee vs. the other way around. I do self medicate in the sense that I use caffine to prevent my migraines. For those that don't have migraines, just imagine a headache 10 times w…

I've previously done a bit of research on Lap-Band after my doctor brought it up earlier in the year, but this time I'm actually seriously considering it. In fact, I'm signed up to go to an information session at one of the local hospitals tomorrow night with a surgeon who I've heard lots of good things about. Before, it was sort of a "well, ok, maybe I'll think about it as a vague possibility" situation, but now I'm in a spot where I could actually see myself going through with it. Scary, but good! I'm going to be a fun patient because I'm a data geek by trade-- I've got an MA in sociology (no fear of PubMed here!) and I work in healthcare outcomes reporting. Success s…

My insurance is a *** and the medical group I belong to requires that anyone wanting WLS must go thru a WLS program. My first class was Wednesday Aug 7. Wow is all I can say. This is an intense program. During the program I have to attend a total of 7 classes that are just about WLS, the first 3 classes are in Aug, and he remaining classes are once a month until Dec. during his time I have to attend 3 more classes, each class is 8 weeks long, have to meet with the preventative med Dr. Who goes thru eating and exercise habits. She then sets a exercise and wt loose goal. The goals must be meet, if they are not than you can be denied surgery. And you have to physic eval. At…

Hi, everyone. I'm a noob here, and found this site while I was doing some research on what my first year after surgery will be like. My wife and I were both just approved to have surgery (first try, yes!!!!!) and we have our consults with the surgeon, dietician, and psych evaluation coming up over the next couple of weeks. Once those are done, we will be able to schedule our surgery. I'm so excited about being approved... I had been approved for the RNY surgery at one time but I gave up on it when my insurance company (at that time) started changing the requirements every time I got close to meeting them (that was years ago before I had ever heard of lap band sur…

It's kind of long but here's my story I started this whole process about 2 years ago and decided I wasn't ready for such a life style change. I tried to lose the weight on my own just with diet and exercise and lost about 40 pounds, I was thrilled with that. It was the most I had ever lost. I then eased up on the exercise and wasn't so strict with my diet and soon the weight was creeping back on. It was then that I decided I needed to take a bigger step in my weight loss journey. I met with my doctor at the end of June, 2013 and was put on the fast track to meet with the surgeon to try to accommodate my leaving for school at the end of August. To my surprise I got an app…

So, I live in a college town where a lot of my friends go home during the summer. So, I haven't seen a lot of my friends since right after my surgery, a lot of them left in may, my surgery was April 25th. They are coming back next week and I'm super nervous about how they are going to react. My specific worry is this guy, who I was sort of dating before my surgery and the summer. He wants to meet up with me tomorrow, and I'm really self conscious about seeing him again. It's super awful that I've lost 103lbs and I'm still uncomfortable with myself. Sorry for the mini-rant.

I am now 8 months out and without a doubt this is the best thing I have ever done for myself. I have had amazing support from my family and without my husbands continual support this would not have been possible. I had my sleeve done in Jeddah in Saudi Arabia I am an Australian and have been here now two years. When I decided I needed to do something drastic I went to IMC and sought out the baraiatric centre and made enquiries to see the surgeon. Dr Bukhari was the most amazing doctor. He said he would only do the sleeve and asked me to have a few tests done to make sure everything was ok to proceed. I had the tests done at the end of November and had my operation in …
