So I'm 5 months out and about 9 pounds from my goal. It's all happened so fast, and I know that mentally I haven't changed - if I'm around a food I never could control myself with, I will eat some of it. A couple crackers, a little cheese, a french fry, etc. I try to stay away from those things. I don't buy them. But I work in an office where people are always bringing food in, there's always a full candy bowl on the file cabinet (that I ate took 2 pieces from this week after not taking any for 6 months), and I had to stay with family for a couple weeks this month (house fire - January was awesome!). More so than at any time since my surgery, I feel like I'm depriving m…

I'm having a hard time getting in three Calcium citrate chewables a day. If I'm lucky I get in two.i believe it's because of the two hours I have to space it between my Multivitamin. As I read many of these posts, I hear over and over people struggling with getting protein in or trying to choke down a protein shake. I hope this is the solution for at least someone out there. Core Protein are pre-made protein shakes and they come in light (20g of protein) and Elite(42 g of protein)! They come in vanilla, chocolate and strawberry. I love the chocolate. It they really do taste like a mixture between chocolate milk and a milkshake. My little girls also drink them as a snack after school. They can be expensive, but my thought is if this is mainly what you need, your saving in your grocery bill Hope this helps!! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal A…

Has anyone notices that after surgery they end up with allergies??? I feel that way! I'm 5 months out and I was wondering what do y'all take for allergy meds? I can't stop sneezing and my eyes look horrible! I know I should go to the doctor but if he is just going to give me over the counter meds I don't need to see him... I'm 3 days post-sleeve (2/6/17) and I came home yesterday. I'm so worried about getting dehydrated. I'm supposed to be on pureed foods but it seems TOO fast. I'm also supposed to stop water 30 min before snacks and 1 hour before meals. I'm just worried that I will get too dry. Any suggestions? Thanks, Dianne

Every time I got on the digital scale at my surgeon's office it was always 10-15 pounds heavier than my digital scale at home. At my 1 month post-op I was 398 pounds on my home scale and the same day at the surgeon's office they insisted that I was 412! They insisted their scale was right. Well, today I had my 3 month post-op appointment and I brought my digital scale from home. My scale said I was 360. Their scale said I was 360. Then they told me they recently had their scales calibrated because they were inaccurate. HA! I WAS RIGHT! I AM VINDICATED!!!! I just wanted to post this and vent. Thanks.

It seems to be that there are lots of people going through stalls right now !! If you are going through a stall or pre op PLEASE read the following wonderful post from Inner Surfer Girl in 2015, who sums it all up perfectly: It seems that at least 50% of the posts on BariatriPal are bemoaning a stall. Daily, and sometimes hourly, I am reading about how someone ONLY lost x number of pounds and now the scale hasn't moved in ___ [fill in the blank] days/months, etc. Oh no, they write, I am a failure/unique/my surgery didn't work/life is not fair, ... Why am I in a stall? I know I am exaggerating but I think you get the idea. Guess what? STALLS are …

So back in March 2016 was the last time that I had a menstrual cycle I had gone to the doctor that September and they said lack of menstrual cycle was most likely due to my weight. My highest weight was in September 2016 I was 291, I had my surgery done January 17th 2017 and I was 280 pounds I am now three weeks post-op and at 253 pounds. So anyways my question is my menstrual cycle has returned but it was two weeks ago and I still have it it hasn't gone away and hasn't got lighter or heavier just the same steady flow for two weeks. Has anyone else experienced this I have an appointment to go see my gynecologist on Tuesday but hopefully is it is just due to hormones and w…

So I'm 4 weeks post op & I have been eating soft foods just fine for about a week. However, I think I may have hit a stall? My weight has been fluctuating between 5lbs since about the start of week 3. It'll go up 5lbs, then back down. But for the last few days, it's been fluctuating just a few ounces. Can someone tell me if I've hit a stall? I'm not sure if a stall means your weight just stays the same, or if you're not losing anymore past a certain point. I'm quite frustrated but I'm trying not to be because #1 I've just started eating soft foods. #2, it's still early & #3 I should just stay off the scale. Though, inches wise, I'm not losing either. It's just fru…

I know there have been countless questions about hair loss, and I've searched and read through a lot of the posts, but my question is a little bit different ... My hair is short and medium brown, and it is falling out! I wanted to grow it out, but it didn't happen before the hair loss started. What I want is tips and stories about how others have dealt with the hair loss. Wigs? Extensions? What did you do to just deal with it emotionally and while it is happening? I know there's not really a way to prevent it once it starts, I just need to cope with it without locking myself in my house and never going out where people will see me. I've finally lost weight and f…

Anyone not feel great at 2 weeks post-op? Most of the time I have read that people felt totally normal by 2 weeks but I just don't . I feel a million times better than right after surgery but I still have pretty low energy, one of my incisions is still a bit sore when I bend and twist, I'm grumpy and whiny... I'm having no trouble getting Protein, Water, puréed foods or my Vitamins down but it's frustrating to still not feel "good". Any advice?? Thanks! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

I was just wondering if anyone was still having any pain over a week out of surgery. In the beginning I was doing well and was only having pain when I went from laying or sitting to standing. Then that even got to where I could tolerate it by day 6. But I went back to work which is a desk job on day 7 and I started doing more stuff around the house. Still only doing liquids but I keep having pains in my right side. It's not a constant pain but it's enough I want pain meds. I'm just afraid that I messed something up. Hi I asked about hair loss before. I know it is common with many & almost 5 months out so think hair loss is starting to slow down a little but 4th month out seemed like a lot. I am taking Biotin now. I just wanted to ask anyone that experienced hair loss, how long til you felt like your hair was close to what it was before? Thanks. I still would do it all over again with hair loss, was worth it. It is just my husband left 4 days after surgery & although feel great with loss , hair loss does effect things to for me too. I need some help. I was sleeved on Aug 26, 2016, weighing in at 312, today I weigh 272! I was down to 265 about 3 weeks ago and now all of a sudden I've gained 7 pounds. I've come to the conclusion that I'm a slow loser, and I accept that, but what I don't accept is this gaining and not losing consistently! Everything I'm about to list is the God honest truth: 1. I faithfully drink 1 gallon of Water a day, no matter what! 2. I consume about 1300 calories a day (sometimes a little more, sometimes a little less) 3. I get about 120g Protein in a day (my doctor actually told me to reduce this) 4. I plan out my meals everyday and do a pretty good job of st…

Hello everyone, I just wanted to share something with you all that will hopefully be helpful to those who haven't had surgery yet, or to those who are post op and need to be encouraged to get all of their liquids in each day (64 ounces or more per day). I made a post on here several days ago, I was concerned about dizzy spells that I was having. I wound up going to the doctor this past Thursday because of the dizziness. My blood pressure was fairly low (for me anyway)-- 96/70. I am 13 weeks post op and my blood pressure is usually up around 125/75. I remember my surgeon and nutritionist stressing from the very beginning how important it was to get in your liquids …

I gained 3 pounds : ( My surgery date was 12/21 SW 241. I weighed 207 last Thursday And now I weigh 210. I am not on my period or expecting it. I eat about 900 calories a day 75 grams of Protein. I try not to eat refined flour or sugar. I don't work out but I'm going to start tomorrow -lifting weights and soul cycle. Has anyone ever had this happen? Is it unrealistic for me to be freaking out about this? I'm grateful for any advice or experience!

I am 7 weeks post op and cannot eat. I have no desire for food. I cook for my spouse and feel sick every time. I can hardly drink Protein drinks, I force them down. I get a feeling of being hungry then it passes. Last week I was very sick, the ER doctor said it was food poisoning, from where I wondered because I don't eat. I think it was the flu. He put me on an antibiotic and it worked. I my surgeon's office and they agreed for me to take the meds. After that whole debacle I'm more turned off by food. The plus side is I've lost 55 lbs in 7 weeks the down side is I'm losing hair like crazy and I am a raging bitch. I want to think that I can do this alone but I can'…

I was sleeved two months ago today, December 7, 2016. I feel absolutely AMAZING!! I have more energy than i've had in years. Taking my kids (I have 11 kids, 6 who have disabilities) to Special Olympics basketball practice and being able to run up and down the court with the has been awesome. And I'm not even out of breath, or sore, or feeling awkward! My weight loss has really slowed down a lot. 10 lbs the last month, so I'm hoping I continue 10 lbs the next two months so I can reach my goal. But I'm also a realist and know as the weather is turning here in Minnesota, it is also time for me to ramp up my activity level to reach that goal. You know, getting ready for…

I had my 2 week post op appt today. Down 25 lbs (surgery January 24th) feeling very good. Dr. Wasser was very pleased with my progress and has cleared me to go back to work. Can now start on stage 3 of purée foods. Felt good to go to the supermarket and shop for stuff other than liquid this or liquid that. Still struggling with my Fluid in-take however, I have notice over the last few days I've been able to drink more, so I'm just going to take it one day at a time. Feeling great and doing fine. Hello fellow sleevers! I'm 11 months post op. I've lost 105 lbs. I'm at a stall. I recently lost my best friend and sister. We were really close. It hurts really bad. She had lost about 60 pounds. She was on her road to a better life and she died. I'm hurting so bad and I need help in order for me to continue on losing weight. I would like to at least honor …

I'm still pre op, but i have a post op question for sleevers, or bypassers. How did you mentally deal with being sleeved or bypassed and get over your food addiction? Mentally for me the one thing holding me back is the thought of not being able to eat large amounts of my favorite foods. I am a mental eater and do eat when Im not even hungry so its obvious Im addicted food. I really do not want to get this operation and wind up back in the same spot a few years from now having ate myself back to where I am. How did you deal with your food addiction? I know the sleeve is only a tool and will only restrict me from eating large amounts of food at one sitting, and will…
