Okay well this month on sept 25 will be my last month to see my surgeon doctor I had to see at least 6 times before I can get approved and go through the steps.. My last bridge appointment is in two weeks [emoji57] It's been almost a year since I started this journey. I can't wait for my new body.... So hard sometimes to see all these before and after pics. Or seeing my mom and sister getting skinny since they both got the sleeve this year. Ugggh.... But I have no choice but to keep going.

So about a month ago I had a cold that then turned in to bronchitis and although I took the 5 pack antibiotics about three weeks ago I have a dry cough, it comes and goes I have no other issues and im scared my surgery is on the 18 I don't know what to do everyone's getting sick

Hello everyone, I had a very successful labband surgery in 2007 and I lost 100 lbs. Then suddenly, without any warnings or complications, my band slipped in August 2015 and I decided to have it removed. Has anyone smoked days before surgery? I'm not an everyday mj smoker but I do it every other weekend sometimes. I had my pre op visit last Monday along with my endoscopy and hadn't smoked weed in almost 3 weeks and I took a urine test when I went and they didn't say anything about it being positive for THC. So this past Friday and yesterday I took a couple of hits and my surgery is this this Friday! Will I be ok?[emoji51]

I am having surgery on September 13. I been doing fairly good. I am very hungry and been on the road all day so far have only had 2 shakes. Would it hurt me if I ate a piece of meat. I am very weak because I haven't had anything on my stomach. We have been on the road trying to get away from the hurricane. We can stop much so I haven't drink much. Please help

I am 6 weeks, 6 days away from my operation. I have done all the work, the required weight loss, classes and pre-authorizations. Now I have 2 more weigh ins, my "head cheek", and the nutritionist visit. I feel like so much I still don't know. Like when I start the "prep diet". My last weigh in is not to October 19, I am on the table October 23. Everything seems like it is last minute. I am also having a hard time finding a protein shake that does not cause me a reaction. so preop diet for gastric bypass starts the 14 and surgery is the 21 im alittle confused on the preop diet am i allowed to eat at all and the the day before surgery is all clear liquids or is it strictly smoothies and water and then the day before surgery is same clear liquids just trying to figure out what to buy for food shopping this week any tips for preop wud be great

So I went to my psych eval today and let me just say it wasn't what I thought it would be. I did like 6 pages a total of 62 questions. The Dr. Robins was a really nice psychologist who ask me a few other questions and was like yes I see you being a success and he cleared me right away. He did diagnose me with depression due to weight. He believes once I do surgery and lose the weight I will no longer feel the way I do and I agree. Only downside due to me having Fidelis I would have to see him one more time which I was scheduled for next Tuesday and I'm okay with it. I had my last nutrition visit yesterday and the doctor submitted for approval! My insurance does not have the ability to see pre-authorizations online so I did a little chat deal with a rep last night and they confirmed that it was pending for Oct 6th. He told me to check back in 7 days. I feel like checking in every day.... too much???? ???

I have, on my own, not because of liquid diet or anything, dropped about 30 lbs in 3 months. I'm wearing my size 14/16's. I'm starting to wonder if I should go through with this now. I'm thrilled to be wearing this size and my goal is a 12. I just can't help but wonder if this is going to be a mistake like every single person in my life is telling me it is.

I had a major shock this morning as my boss was laid off out of the blue. They are having a meeting with me and the other department secretary later this afternoon. They said there is nothing new planned for us, so we shouldn't worry. I am still concerned, and terrified that I will be laid off right before my surgery. Pre-op diet starts today. I got chocolate and vanilla protein powder thinking that I could do lots of things with them. I got some PB2 powder and some fruits, but I'm not having a lot of luck finding good recipes. Any recipe or website suggestions would be much appreciated! I'm 10 days out. I barely eat anything as it is. I don't know why I'm not thin. But I'm not into this protein shake mess. It's nasty. So I just don't eat much. I do eat what is on the list when I do eat tho. Anyone else not be 100% perfect preop?

Hello everyone! I recently under went gastric sleeve surgery on Aug.22nd and am recently unable to stomach the protein shakes I normally really enjoyed. I have not gotten my 60gms since the day before my surgery and I know that's a big deal. Does anyone have any advice or ideas? Thanks

Why did the "sleevers" choose the sleeve over the bypass? Also, is there a malabsorption risk with the sleeve just like with the bypass?

I have gained about ten pounds since the start of all the weigh-ins. I just started nursing school and i have been stress eating like crazy! Im at my halfway mark now so I really need to get on it and start eating better. Has/did anyone have this problem during their weigh-ins and does anyone know if the weight gain will effect my chances of being approved for surgery?

Hi! I am new here. I have a follow up with my surgeon on 9/21 and he said if all my tests were good and I had lost 5-10% of my weight we could be looking at surgery in October or November. I think I am down 2 lbs and will need to drop 15 more! I am having a hard time losing weight. I dieted for so many years and always managed to lose some weight but always gained it back. I quit drinking 3 years ago and since then have gained 60 lbs and have not been able to get much off. I am 340 now and my highest was 350. Not so much about surgery, but this has been the hardest 2 weeks ever I have had 3 one loves pass away within 6 days of each other 2 from natural causes and 1 from being murdered by her ex boyfriend.... I feel real emotional right now I had to bury my uncle today , my aunt tomorrow and my childhood friend on Saturday ... My PCP suggested getting the VSG surgery this past Wednesday at my check up, so I'm waiting on my first appt in the mean time I've been doing a lot of research online about it and came across this forum, I'm so glad i did! Hey all, I saw Premier Protein tropical punch flavored water at Sams Club the other day. Has anyone tried this? Normally I prefer my water straight up, with no flavor, but thought it might be a good option for the clear liquid phase. Hate to buy a warehouse sized pack to find out it's horrible tho.

Hey! I'm 28, from NJ, and a single mom. Recently found out that I'm pre-diabetic and may have thyroid issues. I have GERD and take meds for that and mild depression. Since I started on meds, I gained a lot of weight and simply can't lose it. I'm at 214 now, and my HW is 220. I know that most sleevers usually start out with higher weights. Any thoughts or advice? I have Oxford Insurance. Will I get approved? I did the gastric balloon with Dr. Ren at NYU last July, and it barely helped. I'm just so torn....

Hi Everyone! It's officially less than 3 months before I go on Medicare! My husband's current health coverage does NOT cover any weight loss surgery so getting wls has been out of the question since 1996! I will be 53 years old in November and I'm on disability for numerous medical comorbities...I have completed 6 months of seeing a nutritionist, attended 1 support group meeting, set up the initial consultation with the surgeon, have 6 major health concerns, a bmi of 45+, been overweight for the last 9 years, taking 10 medications...has anyone gone through getting Medicare approval before? I want to make sure that I've crossed every "t" and dotted every "I."

Just want to offer a shout out to Oxford health insurance. I'm sure other companies do this as well, but I received a phone call yesterday from a nurse checking in and letting me know they will be following up 2 days after the surgery and a month after the surgery to see how I am doing. They gave me a 24 hour hotline number if I have any questions staffed by a nurse. I was really impressed with the personal touch and outreach.
