I went for my first appointment about a week ago. Had the majority of the testing required for insurance. When I met with the patient coordinator she told my my insurance required 4 months of nutrition and exercise counseling. I thought it was 6 months (I have Anthem BCBS). Does anyone else have Anthem? What have you been told?

Hello All! Is there a good app for reminding you to eat? Maybe one that says specifically if it's meal or snack time? I am looking at Lifesum but unsure if it's really a good one. Thanks!

Hi guys, This is my first entry. I am having my band removed and hopefully rny in the same procedure. I was warned that some people require two surgeries depending on the condition of your stomach. Can anyone share their experiences related to this topic? Thanks, it's nice to not feel so Lone in this journey.

It's been 6 months since i have started this journey.. I have completed all my visits, etc. The last step was to get my labs done before they turned everything into my insurance company. My insurance is very picky so they wanted an H.Pylori breath test done as well. Everything came back negative except the H.Pylori I am now taking Amoxocilin, Biaxin, and Prilosec for 14 days.. It's only been 6 days so far, but i am wanting to know what else people have taken along with this regimen to help them test negative at their next breath test? I have heard some say Petpo Bismol works but when do i take it and how much a day and for how long? Anything else that people have tried??…

So I bought muscletech whey isolate chocolate (my doc said it was fine) for my protein shakes. I am about to start my 2 week liquid diet. I tried the powder for the first time with 2% milk (bought 1% for future use today) and it is NASTY! I puked it was so gross. I have had protein shakes before. So I don't know why this one is so gross. Anyway my question is what can I add to it, to make it taste better? i can't do any sugar or foods? Any suggestions?

Hi all, my name is Latesha, I am 24 years old; I live in Columbia, South Carolina. I am currently going through the steps to be able to be approved for VSG. I am so nervous of gaining too much weight within the 3 month period. My insurance company which is AETNA does not allow me to gain any excessive amount of weight or I'll have to do the nutrition course over. I'm currently at the stage where I have "food funerals". Any one else experience this? I just want to do well and hopefully get a surgery date by January 2018. Anyone live in South Carolina?

First timer here on this... I just had my appointment with my doctor and I have decided on the gastric bypass since I want to lose 200lbs+. Today I had my first nutritionist appointment and now I have to do my 90 days for insurance approval! Patience is not my virtue! Haha I want it now! My story: I had lap band done in 2010 and was doing great had lost about 70lbs (from 352 to 278) and then I started having complications. I started throwing up everything I ate or drank. I would have fluid removed from the band and then we would add more. It was a constant battle, so in 2014 I had it removed. And now... I've gained all my weight back plus some. I was shocked to find out…

My surgery is 9/18 for the sleeve. My boss asked me today about how much time I want off work. Lucky for me, my bosses understand the process of weight loss surgery and so there is no real push to do something I can't do. Also, lucky for me is that I have a lot of leave time and a lot of leeway to make my own schedule. My work ethic in me hates to take time off work but I don't want to work from home if I don't have to also for that week and a half so I can just focus on trying to get myself on the healing track. I am asking for a week and a half off work, then a week and half of paperwork from home and then I will back on the road seeing clients. I am 43 years old a…

Hey everyone I went to do my Endoscopy today. They gave me paper work with the results saying I have a Hiatal Hernia and Mild Erythematous Mucosa of the Antrum which they did two biopsies. I know they are checking if I have H. pylori which I don"t think I do. Also it said it can be gastritis???? I'm worried I don't want this to get in the way of me getting surgery. I really want this done by at least October or November the latest. Anyone has gone through this and can let me know what to expect?

Of course I tested positive for the H-Pylori bacteria/gastritis and now have to be on medication to cure me before surgery. I was prescribed and took proton inhibitors and antibiotics this morning at work and shortly thereafter began feeling serious nausea and pain in my stomach. It was so bad that I had a trash can in front on me JIC I had to throw up. Luckily it passed and I've taken another dose tonight with some spacing (pro inh on an empty stomach and antibiotics 2hrs later on a full stomach) and so far nothing is going awry. I'm just so scared it may reoccur. Did anyone have to deal with this?

However as of last night I woke up at 2am in a panic Mindset with what in the heck am I doing? All the negatives just keep circling in my mind. I got up and pushed back those thoughts but my question is. .. outs this normal, just nerves getting the best of me? I completed my final clearance (endoscopy) this past Tuesday 8/29/17 all other clearances are done My new primary care doctor is waiting to clear me once he receives the endoscopy report. Hi everyone! I'm going thru the process to get GBS so I'm wondering I've been following a lady who has had gastric bypass and after she was released to eat regular foods she is eating a keto diet which is high in fat high in protein low in cards... which I think is another term for Atkins diet?? But won't all the high fats upset your pouch and put you through dumping? Any thoughts?

  34. Started by Deleted Account,

I'm in the process of losing weight before my bypass, but I feel sick as a dog. I have no fever, just feel extraordinarily weak with a headache. Could this be low sugar or protein? I've been on enough diets that you'd think I would know, but I've never felt like this. I'm not diabetic that I know of. Has anyone else felt like this? ?

  35. Surgeons vary on pre-op diet requirements. Mine said i could eat normally until the night before surgery (must stop all food/drink 12 hrs before surgery). Now, i have a question...I'm 36 hrs away... Can i have lean red meat? I see so many varying threads about no red meat, yes read meat....etc My understanding is that your stomach passes red meat out after 4 yrs. So why can't you eat red meat 2 days prior? Or why can you? Also, im at a 38 starting BMI so not sure if that has anything to do with why i'm not a pre-op diet for those who are wondering. Thoughts?

I'm looking for some input about the lifetime commitment aspect of this. I'm seeing a therapist about food issues that I need to resolve whether or not I have the sleeve. She is not trying to talk me out of it, she will support me with whatever decision I make. But she said something tonight that I have been thinking in my own head, and I'd love to get some thoughts about it from people who've been sleeved for a while. First, of course, this is permanent. No going back, the majority of the stomach is gone-gone. That doesn't scare me so much as makes me realize that I need to know in my gut this is the right choice. Second, it seems like this imposes an unnatural…
