Has anyone tried Barimelts vitamins? Are they super chalky like Zicam melts(the cold remedy) cause those make it nauseous.?

Hello! This is my first post. I'm scheduled for 11/27 and have already been cleared for cardiology, this week I also have gastroenterologist and pulmonary! A lot in 1 week but they kind of are pushing me along luckily (I think)! Anyway, I'm a bipolar patient who sees my psychiatrist every 2 weeks - but he 'doesn't do surgical clearances'. I mean not just for me, he just refuses to do them in general. So I am scheduled for a psychologist next week. I am nervous my reason for going to him will seem odd. Of course I'll explain. I'm also a suboxone patient. Worries!!!

So today my psych clearance came in and my Dr. Is sending everything to Fidelis for approval ... my BMI is 38. Something and with slight blood pressure problems but really no other comorbidities ....IM TERRIFIED OF DENIAL ... my PCP wrote the letter of medical necessity... I need prayers ... anywhoo anyone familiar with how long the approval process takes ?

I completed a year of medical weight loss with no luck. I was put on phentramine a week and a half ago and already lost 7lbs. I am happy with how it’s going, but I know as soon as I stop I will gain it right back. I have started the process for vsg, but I’m so scared. So, I am planning ahead for the mental part, that head hunger. This is where I almost wish I could start smoking again (quit 25 yrs ago, and not doing it again) However, I wish there was something else, obviously besides smoking. Is gum allowed after 1-2 months post op, or never? Also, what hobbies etc has anyone started, to fill that food-void. I am planning on getting a ton of good books, more dog-walking and exercise, using money saved on food & snacking and use it for pedicure or mani once in a while. I have to report to the hospital at 11 for my RNY surgery. I'm excited and scared all at the same time. Not sure I will sleep tonight. This is what I've worked almost a year for, now it's just real.

I plan on losing a lot of weight. I have some friends who have recently lost a lot of weight, and along the way, they would point out how bad they looked in their old photos. I see that here a lot, too. The problem is, I don't think anyone looks "bad" heavier- they just look heavier. Today I make the promise that I will not put myself (or others) down just because of my size. Yes, I will shrink and get healthier. But I won't say "yuck, look at my double chin." This is just an informational posting, but I thought it would be helpful to some to get an idea of what your surgeon/nutritionist may recommend. These are from Alexian Brothers Health System out in the Northwest suburbs of IL. I'm working with Dr. Wallace and the Kane Center out in Hoffman Estates, and will have my surgery at St. Alexius hospital in Hoffman Estates. ALWAYS CHECK WITH YOUR DOCTOR regarding your specific pre-surgery instructions and protein powders/shakes that are approved by your program. This was very helpful info to have for me, so I thought it could be nice to share for those early on in the process and wanting to learn all they can beforehand

I'm 24 years old, going to be 25 in a few months and I weigh about 340 pounds. I've been overweight my whole life. Partly due to PCOS and partly because I haven't previously had the motivation to do anything about it. It got out of hand so quickly that I would start a diet and lose about 10 pounds. I recently met with the psychologist for an evaluation and he put me on a 1500 calorie diet and told me to log all my food and exercise on myfitnesspal app. He then set me up with an appointment for the nutritionist which is October 20th. He says at this appointment the nutritionist will review my food log!I have been following the diet and losing weight and feeling great! A cool thing happened today unexpectedly. I've been waiting for Nov 1 so I could enroll in a new insurance since IBC will not approve a revision to a sleeve, they say I hit my lifetime limit with my constantly failing and leaking bands. How do most feel right after surgery? I'm hoping to only take one week off work, two at most. Is this unrealistic? Also worried about losing too fast and feeling crummy.

So, I am required to go to my primary doctor (9/27) and that's when I'll bring up bariatric surgery for the first time. My BMI currently is just about 40. The last 7 years it's been above 35 but below 40. I have chronic gastritis (unsure if "officially" diagnosed or not) and pre diabetes. As I said, I have to see my primary. My wife and I both signed up for gastric bypass surgery. Our first appointment with the surgeon and dietician was yesterday. Approx. March surgery date. The insurance requires 6 months of monitored dietary progress. They want us to lose 25 pounds by then, which shouldn't be too hard. With all the water weight I have now, I could probably do half that in the next 2 weeks. Wish us luck!

Saw the surgeon for the first time yesterday; he was very thorough and also straightforward, which I appreciated. My surgery date is set for Thurs ay, 10/5. I ordered my shakes from Walmart for my liquid diet that starts on Monday! My shake choice was Glucerna not only because I’m diabetic but because they are very good! I spent about $130.00 for about 80 shakes. I have to drink 5 day and I can have a 1 serving of a fruit, vegetable and starch from a very TINY list my surgeon has given me. My surgery is scheduled for Monday the 25th of September. 6 days and counting!!! I own my own business and I'm tying up loose ends and sending out orders. I had anticipated taking a full week off and possibly a second full week off. But in reading people taking a month Off? What is the average recoop time? Being my own boss has it's perks and I can take more time if needed but I can't imaging taking more than 2 weeks.

So, as I get closer to my surgery date I figured I'd like to share my story! At 5'1 I've always been "chubby" but it wasn't until my late 20's that the weight really started to stay on me. I know part of that was I continued to eat like an active collage kid but was not NEARLY as active. Gone where the walking everywhere, the dancing and the swimming days.Along came the drinking, eating fine foods and watching movies days. Those days took a slight toll and at my first attempt to get in shape I was maybe 190. Lost some weight, moved where there was less chance of activity and gained even more weight back. OOHHHHH Damn.... Shiffe has gotten real..... 33 days away. Went for preo-op testing today. took them 3 HOURS to weigh me, draw 4 tubes of blood and put me on the EKG machine for 45 seconds (not joke). I also had the interview with the hospital nurse! So on Friday have my Physc exam, next week I have my nutritional class, then all that's left is final approval from my primary, last round of blood work, my upper GI and my finial weigh in. I hope like hell the 3rd time is a charm, cause I don't want to repeat this process again!

My surgery is scheduled for the 26th. I'm wanting to start packing my hospital bag as a way to stay busy. What did you pack or wish you had brought. I read Alot about gas-X strips but my nurse said my surgeon doesn't allow them. Other then that the only thing my class emphasized was chapstick. Our paperwork also said no cellphones within 6ft of the bed due to equipment.
