Hi everyone! I'm Sunny. I finally have my first appt with my surgeon! What questions should I be asking at this appt?

Office told me surgery is covered 100% since I'm double insured. My BMI is almost 32. 202 lbs, some comorbidity HBP, cholesterol. I do have to wait until Jan 1 due to insurance requiring 3 month wait. Pre op diet? Will losing weight affect my ability to qualify? Recovery time?

Welcome! I think it may vary by insurance. I know mine (SmartHealth) actually wouldn't approve you as is since your BMI is "too low". They require a BMI of 35 with co-morbidities, or 40 or higher for no-cormobidities. I would recommend calling your insurance company directly to see what all they require. I wasn't required to have any medically-supervised weight loss, but there were several people in my class who had to do 3-6 months. Good luck!
