My rny surgery is scheduled for surgery 10/25 and I am supposed to start my liquid diet on 10/4, but I've decided to start it today because I had a few cheat meals last week and figured I couldn't hurt anything. Anyways.... is anyone else on a 3-4 week 800 calorie diet consisting of protein shakes, broth, sf jello and popsicles?? I'm finding it really difficult to feel satiated but I've stayed strong today. I did have some broccoli which I deemed was ok for now since technically I'm not supposed to start until 10/4 anyways.... how are you all keeping your sanity? Any advice? Also- I've noticed throughout the day my weight has fluctuated up 5 pounds which usually doesn't h…

I had my gall bladder removed and the surgery didnt go as simply as it should have. The surgeon accidentally cut my bile duct and i ended up having to be cut open to repair it, and had to have drains for 6weeks after the surgery. It was quite awful.. But moving on, and now I have my appointments booked for as soon as my health cover kicks in, to see the dietician and a new surgeon for sleeve surgery. But im hoping my previous surgery wont affect having this done. Has anyone else been through this? Sent from my SM-G950F using BariatricPal mobile app

As I type this, I am on my way to my final pre-op appointment with my surgeon and my surgery is on Monday. Ladies and gentlemen, I have been researching this for a few years. I know what to expect. I've followed my pre-op diet to the letter and I've even lost some weight. So why on earth am I so nervous right now? My heart feels like it's going to beat out of my chest. Ok - I've been trying to lose weight for 1/2 my life and it hasn't worked. I've tried all the diets, and nothing. Now I have to lose 17lbs before surgery. If I haven't been able to lose anything in 25 years, how can I lose it now?? I know many before me have made that goal, but i'm really worried about this part. I'm on the diet they recommend but i'm also on insulin which can make weight loss a real pain in the rump roast. I've trimmed my food intake as much as I can and my BG numbers are under control. I'm going to step up the frequency of exercise (was exercising every other day) but I ache a lot after working out, so that can be a stumbling block. I'd lo…

  18. Hello all, I am a 36 year old who served in the Marines from 2000 - 2005 and then got out and got a desk job. I weighed 185 when I EAS'd out of the Marines, but taking a desk job and also a lot of driving involved I sat for a large portion of the day and also worked 16 - 17 hour days as I wanted to work my way up in the company. I ate a lot of fast food, went to the bars and drank just about every weekend (hey I was young and dumb). Slowly but surely I started getting quite a big gut which I still have to this day. Long story short my doctor wants me to have gastric sleeve as she thinks it would solve a lot of other health problems I have (Low Test, B-12 shots, clonazepam…

Hi, this is my first time posting here. Just looking for some support/advice. So I'm scheduled to have a gastric sleeve at the end of the month. My weight is 190lbs and I'm 5'3". I know I am at the lower bmi to be having the surgery but I fractured both of my hips last year (due to massive weight gain and low bone density) and am at a huge risk of fracturing them again if I do not get this weight off. I have tried everything, I can lose a stone but always put it back on and more. I stupidly told my family about getting the surgery done. My husband has been so supportive and understands why I need to get this done. However the rest of my family have been a disaster. They …

Hello all. I received a checklist from my surgeon's office of habits to adopt now (I am at the beginning of the 6-month supervised nutrition program) so that when I have the surgery, I can focus primarily on healing rather than changing many behaviors at once. For those who have been through surgery, what would you add to this list? Begin all of your vitamins (done) Eat three meals a day around the same time and decrease meal skipping (have been doing this, a major change for me) Meal length should be around 20-30 minutes (I am about there, usually more like 20) Decrease portion sizes (mine have definitely decreased as I am really working to redu…

I'm not doing well. I've cheated on my pre-op diet everyday. I feel guilty about it, but after struggling with food all my life, I find it really ironic that I'm expected to go solid free for 10 days. Oh well, hasn't happened yet, and I'm scheduled for Tuesday the 10th. Nutritionist told me that they would still go through with surgery but that I would find it more difficult after surgery. Nothing about this has been easy, and I'm still considering backing out.

It may be a silly question, but I'm currently doing 30-40 mins of cardio and some core work. I'm doing this about 4 days a week, but on the 16th of October I begin the pre-op diet. My fear is trying to get the last bit of exercise in those two weeks but pushing my hunger levels through the roof. If you did exercise, what are some pointers?

So I've had my first visit, got the letter of support from my PCP, last Monday I went for my endoscope, the other day I had my first nutrition and Trainor apt, I'm waiting for my TSH test, and have set up my 3 support groups, all being done this month. i also have an apt with my cardiologist this month to get the clearance for surgery from him. things seem to be moving along quickly. However because I have Mainecare they require 6 months of nutrition visit. has anyone here had mainecare and had to wait the full 6 months before being approved for surgery?
