Hi everyone! I'm trying to decide on an unflavored protein powder. I was going to go with Genepro since a friend recommended it, but if it's not really 30g of protein per scoop, is it really worth it? I've looked a little bit into Unjury and peeked at Isopure...I like the price point on Isopure better than the other two, but has anyone tried all 3? Are there any others that you would recommend?

So I started this journey last year in November. Finished my NUT visits within the 6 months, my psych was a 2 month wait due to scheduling. After completing EVERYTHING, the insurance coordinator calls back to tell me I need a letter from my Pcp for referral. (Around August) Now at this time I had lost approx 34lbs (SW:318) jus by changing my diet alone. (I’m really not open to tell people I’m gettin the surgery because I don’t want to deal with the opinions that may come with it. However I do have a support system of friends who support my decision to jumpstart my health journey.) So now at this point I’m debating do I even need the surgery?? (LW: 282) So I ended up havin…

So here is the thing, my job covers my insurance (Regence Uniform Classic --- love it!), however, I had Molina before this. Currently, Regence requires me to have 6 months of nutrition visits with a (Nutritionist, Dietitian, PCP, whomever) that is once a month for 6 consecutive months within 2 years prior to surgery. This is the thing, from August 2016 - February 2017 I had to call a Nutritionist at Molina once a week and they paid for me to do my weigh ins at Weight Watchers which i had to send them the results each week (I still have the booklet as well showing the weigh ins). I plan to call Regence tomorrow, because technically... this surpasses what they …

My 3 month clock started on Monday of this week and I wish I could feel some joy. Instead, I feel some despair because it seems like a long time. I am fortunate enough that my insurance does not have a weight loss requirement but I need 3 sessions of nutrition counselling. I was really hoping that the entire affair would be much faster but I understand the reasoning for it. The problem is that I am caught in a stuck cycle. I suffer from depression and anxiety, I eat, gain weight, and then my body hurts more so I eat again. I am hoping that this surgery will break the cycle so I can get healthy. I miss riding my bicycle and being able to hike. I miss a lot .....

So I had my last nutritional visit on Sept. 15, and of course had gained back the few pounds I lost, which put me 2 pounds over my starting weight 6 months ago. The nutritionalist says the surgeon will not schedule my surgery until I have lost some weight. I have tried seriously I have, I can lose it comes back. I have counted calories and carbs cut the weekly glass of wine, and even bacon( the only pork I eat) out of my diet. Was diagnosed with sleep apnea and have used my CPAP every night since I have received it. I walk 3-4 miles 4-5 days a week. Anyway, the nutritionalist said they would submit my paperwork to the insurance company anyway on the 15th despite not havi…

I started my pre op diet Sunday and since then I've been having very bad leg cramps, almost Charlie horses but not as painful. It's at night when I may stretch my legs muscles are seizing up. I don't think I'm dehydrated because I'm drinking well over 100 oz of water a day. Has this happened to anyone else?

One thing I noticed is reading about a lot of people blending their food in the early/pureed phases for a few weeks postoperatively. I mean im fine with blending like fruit and stuff like that that people normally blend. . But the thought of blending stuff like beef meat chicken and stuff like that is absolutely disgusting. Hell im totally fine with just toughing it out with protein shakes and fiber supplements during the post op period. I know I can easily go a couple of weeks on a liquid diet, I just have no interest in blending foods that arent meant to be blended. I know its not mandatory or anything to do it, but I did notice many people mentioning having …

So today I had my last nutritionist appointment until after my surgery. I've had my psych eval, will get my sleep study results on Tuesday, and after a class on 11/20 my info goes to insurance for approval. I know I'm still a few months away from surgery, but as excited as I am for this new journey Im incredibly anxious/nervous! anyone else get a case of the nerves when they were coming closer to surgery? I still 100% believe I need this/want this, but at the same time I'm scared for the actual surgery and recovery. I know most seem to want things to go fast, but I almost wish I had more time to get myself prepared and ready for this huge step. Anyone else feel like this …

I just weighed myself and so far I have lost 16lbs since beginning this journey in August. How much did you lose before surgery? The main things I have changed is my eating. But to be honest I definitely slip up some days. But as a whole I am eating much healthier. I am trying to incorporate more exercise but I am just starting that now. What changes did you make to lose weight pre-surgery? BTW their is no requirement with my insurance of weight loss.

This is something that I thought about doing for a while, by a while I mean over 2 years. I have finally gotten to the point where I am now being tested for sleep apnea and NOTHING I do drops weight. So of course I just go back to eating junk. I scheduled my initial consultation with the surgeon and now that I have....I feel like the appointment is TOO FAR AWAY! How is that even possible? Has anyone else had this struggle....where you didn't want surgery.....then finally decided and wanted it done yesterday? How did you deal?

Hello there, I had a question for any sleevers ... Has anyone continue to use marijuana? I have a medical card and also live in California where it is legal to use for recreational use. Does anyone know if they test you right before surgery for nicotine or marijuana? I'm about 4 weeks from surgery and thinking about quitting. Just enough time to have it out of my system. I have been smoking for 15+ years, this may be hard but completely worth it in the end! Has anyone stopped Pryor to surgery and started back up after. If so how long did you wait to smoke again?

I am planning to have my gastric sleeve on the 13th of November (today is Oct. 26th). I wanted to find out exactly how fast the weight will come off. I have heard a lot of mixed answers so I wanted to see what everyone here thinks. My weight is 260 and I am 5ft exactly. Any thoughts?

Hello, all-- Well I'm Cellie and new here-- just two months in my pre-approval process. I have already seen a psychologist, who approved me for the surgery, and I've had my first consult visit with the surgeon. I'm so anxious about getting approval for the surgery. I have to show five years of problematic weight history, and each year is above 40 except for one. I have comorbidities, though, so I'm hoping to get approved anyway The surgeon told me I wouldn't be formally asking for approval until 2018. I have my first appointment with the nutritionist in two weeks. Were any of you else this nervous about approval? Anybody else have BCBS insurance? A…

How are you doing? How are you feeling? How are you planning for surgery? Has your pre-op diet started yet? My surgery is scheduled for early morning on the 21st of November. I am excited and nervous and trying to plan ahead. My pre-op diet is only 7 days, so it starts the 13th and ends at midnight on the 20th, no food afterwards. My pre-op class is on the 11th and all of my post op appointments are set as well. I made bone broth using beef bones (I hate it!), chicken bones (holy yumminess!) and ham hocks (soooooooo good!). I also made some cream soups for the freezer for when I am allowed to eat them. I plan to make refried beans & also a pumpkin/butternut sq…

Has anyone went through the VA for WLS? I’m in the process but feeling like there is no light at the end of the tunnel. It’s been almost a year in the works. FINALLY I have a consultation (end of November). I’ve completed all of the labs, 6 month diet, ultrasound of gallbladder, tests, and met all of the criteria. I’m just wondering how long after the consult was your surgery?

Ugh lesson learned! I have been eating pretty healthy for the last 3 months, not adding butter or salt etc to foods, cutting carbs and avoiding extra fatty greasy foods. Today I decided to make one of my old unhealthy go to snacks, big mistake! I feel horrible ? I couldn’t even finish it, giving it to the dogs. I don’t know why I decided to eat it but I won’t be making that mistake again. I guess I needed a reminder to stick to the plan, it’s there for a reason. I do not think I will be having an unhealthy “last supper” I do not like this feeling. Now I’m wondering how I ever ate that stuff, this does not feel good at all ?

I'm having the RNY. Gosh, I've spent the last 3 months doing the testing and waiting for opinions to come in about whether or not I'm a candidate for any surgery at all. Now the real fun begins--the waiting and the countdown. Insurance is now submitted. *gulp* (Sorry, this post began as a November Surgery post but I just found the pre-existing thread! Derp! My bad!)
