I work out vigorously at least 3 times a week. Various cardio as well as weight lifting. Have scheduled breast augmentation and tummy tuck in 6 weeks and am worried about the 4 weeks of very little exercise. I have been told light walking only. Has anyone been through similar procedures? How did it go for you? Thanks in advance!

I have already hit my 2-3 lb a week point, granted I'm only restricted to 3 ccs, but I really want to get down before prom, which is May 2nd. Does anyone have a work out routine that works really well? As of right now i go to the gym about 5 days a week, and I do a variety of things with the weight machines, and then I get on the treadmill for half an hour. help help help

This may be a common question, but I wanted to keep it relevant and fresh since they are always creating new ones. I moved out with a friend to the boonies, and there are no gyms close to the house, and I have no equipment at home. It's too cold here, so my only option is to work out at home. I would love to hear everyone's suggestions on videos. I've done Carmen Electra's striptease in the past, as well as some yoga. I get bored easily, so I wanted to come to this thread and see what's keeping you guys busy these days  thanks!

I just wanted to say that I jogged on my treadmill today for the first time! I am a 63 yo woman and don't think I have ever done that bf. I tell you I felt so good doing it and will continue this so I can enter a race with my daughter this summer for sure! I was floating..and sweating but didn't kill me!:wink0:

I have started running every day. I hope to run a marathon by the end of the year. :drool5: I love it. The thing is-I am sticking with 30g of carbs, but everything that I have read with runners is that you need more carbs for fuel. I am wondering if I should up my carbs a bit when running. Any thoughts?

I am in the process of "working my way up" to P90X. I currently do an advanced Tae Bo tape 3 days a week and the treadmill 2x per week. My question is, does anyone have decent long term experience with P90 X? I have a naturally higher muscle mass (according to my docs) than the average woman, so I don't want to bulk up...yuck! I still need to lose more weight, and wonder if I should focus on losing more weight first. In short, is it any good for real weight LOSS, or just extreme toning? Thanks!

My head is spinning right now. I was so dead set on getting an Ab Circle Pro machine...until I read a bazillion reviews on it (mostly bad about the machine being of poor quality). Then I started looking at additional options (Ab Coaster, Ab Flyer....) While I plan on doing my regular cardio (I do a two-mile power walk every day with additional moves ala Leslie Sansone), I wanted to get opinions as to what is out there that will help me work on my "pooch". It is definitely my problem area :frown:. Thanks for any opinions, testimonials, and suggestions!!

Just looking for some advice from fellow bandsters. I was banded on December the 4th. I have a gym membership which runs out early Feb. I am currently looking into another gym to go to because the staff are really horrible where I currently go. They are belittling bullies and don't seem to understand that the tactics they play don't work with all members. I have tried going back twice in the past year (which I stayed a couple of months the other times), tried again today and couldn't bring myself to enter. I know some people will see this as weak, but I just can't, OK? For Christmas I purchased the Wii Fit Plus and am planning to use this daily 6 out of 7 days a week a…

I was wondering what folks do nutritionally when they go through a period of increased activity? For example, I live in SE Texas and we get hurricanes. my family and I live pretty far out in the country and our land borders my parents land, giving us about 10 acres to tend to. so whatever damages we have are handled by us. After Hurricane Ike, we had around 7 trees down around the houses and another 20 or so down in the my back acres. Of course we had to clear the trees up around the house ASAP just so we could get off the land and onto the highway. looking back at this and applying it to the future, how am i going to be able to handle a 24-30 inch chainsaw for ext…

I have not had the lap band yet. I am still in my 6 month supervised diet phase. But I have been going to the gym faithfully for almost a year now. Well this is the second time this has happened but I have inflamation in my hip flexors which is limiting my cardio time. I am trying to stay active in the gym because I want it to be a life change and something I continue to do. But I don't see where I can keep this up until I loss some weight where working out wont be so hard on my joints and body. Am I crazy for thinking this way?

I am getting banded on Wednesday, and I am trying to figure out what type of exercising I need to do. Here's my problem...I am sooo afraid of going to the gym and looking like a fat idiot. So my question is...until I get confident enough, do you think it would be ok to do my Wii Fit, my Jillian Michaels game for Wii and I have been thinking about getting the Zumba cds. Please give me your opinion!

I always thought it was a complete farce- the idea that a person could gain weight exercising simply by putting on muscle mass. I was wrong! One day about a month ago, I suddenly started craving Protein again- something I haven’t really craved in 6 months or so. Of course, at this point, I know when my body is trying to tell me something, so I went back to the old (and very useful) rules for the band and began eating protein before anything else. Within a few days, two things started to happen. 1) I started gaining weight. 2) I could quite suddenly began noticing increased strength at the gym. For a few days, I was a little worried about the weight gain, but a trip to…

Hey guys! Just wanted to let everyone know I bought a pair of Shape-ups today and I LOVE THEM!! They were $99. I first saw them on Victoriasecret.com (they had a pink pair for like $120) and fell in love. I didn't find any pink ones, so I bought the white ones instead. When I got home I walked around my neighborhood and I could really feel it working in my butt and abbs. Even tho the DVD that came with the shoes said to only wear them for 30 min at first, I have not taken them off all day . Anyways, if you do not own a pair, I recommend buying some. I got EA Active for my Wii for Christmas and I decided to bust it out last night....Wow did it give me a workout!! Now...I should say that I am incredibly out of shape, but still I was impressed with it. I also have the Wii Fit and I like the Active much better. It really makes you break a sweat but keeps you interested in what you're doing and it switches it up every couple of minutes so you don't get bored. I started the 30 day challenge and it had me running, doing squats, lunges, jumps, bicep curls and arm lifts. You can also make custom workouts for yourself. I am definitely excited to see the results after the 30 days!

I'm a month out from surgery and am eating soft foods. My question is, ordinary tasks are sooo exhausting and I"m wondering if anyone else experienced this? I want to start exercising for real, but I seem to be so weak; I also have some dull muscle achiness/weakness. I am eating probably 800-1000 calories per day, so I think that is enough. I just wonder what I can do to help with my stamina/fitness? sara

I've been taking brisk walks at least five days a week, approximately 2 miles. Since I need to lose around 10-15 pounds, I dusted off my old exercise tapes/dvds yesterday. So far I've done 2 Turbo Jam workouts, one for cardio and one with weights. Anyone else here actively exercising for their physical and mental health? If so, let's share right here! I've been having weight issues since I was a teenager, and have tried a lot of different diets, pills, and exercise programs. Recently I lost over 40 pounds and wanted to share how I did it with everyone. From my research I believe that my weight issue was from a lack of activity vs over eating. I'm rather motionless when working at the office and going to the gym just wasn't for me. I read somewhere that based on a 2000 calorie diet we should be taking about 10,000 steps a day. For the first week I measured my steps and only averaged about 3000 - 5000 steps a day less than half the recommended. So my new plan was to reach 10,000 steps a day, some days I really ca…

If you exercise to improve your metabolism and prevent diabetes, you may want to avoid antioxidants like Vitamins C and E. That is the message of a surprising new look at the body’s reaction to exercise, reported on Monday by researchers in Germany and Boston. Exercise is known to have many beneficial effects on health, including on the body’s sensitivity to insulin. “Get more exercise” is often among the first recommendations given by doctors to people at risk of diabetes. But exercise makes the muscle cells metabolize glucose, by combining its carbon atoms with oxygen and extracting the energy that is released. In the process, some highly reactive oxygen molecule…

100 steps per minute sounds a lot to me, I will give it a shot tomorrow. Quote: A journey of a thousand miles may begin with a single step, but even if you take just 2,999 more within half an hour, you may be on the road to fitness. A new study finds that people who walk to keep in shape can achieve the right intensity if they take at least 100 steps a minute. The researchers, led by Simon J. Marshall of San Diego State University, equipped volunteers with pedometers that counted their steps as they worked out on treadmills at different speeds. They also measured the participants’ heart rates. A pace of 100 steps a minute or more, they calculated, was e…

Happy New Year! I love this time of the year. This is the time for renewal and setting new goals. 2009 was a great year, but I am excited about what 2010 holds for me. This is the year that I will reach my weight loss goal. I am so determined to get there by May 2010. I will Celebrate my one year anniversary with the band. My daughters gave my husband and me a wonderful Christmas gift. It was a picture catalog of our lives over the last 20 years. Looking over those pictures brought out so many emotions. I was so thin for many years and I loved flipping through the pages until I got to the last page. It was a picture of our family on vacation in June 2008. I gasped. I d…

Can a big woman Spin? I'm very bottom heavy & klutzy on top of that  I'm excited, but really nervous to try. I'm taking part of of a 12 week fitness/weight loss challenge at our health club. They offer several classes for much lower cost for those in the challenge. Anyhow, RPM is the one that will fit with my schedule. I'm an early morning exerciser, time FT working Mom of a 5 yr DD. So do I give it shot? Or would I be better off waiting till I lost more weight? I've been walking/jogging/marching in the current channel of the pool. I also have recumbant biked & eliptical (my fav).

I think this has been posted before, but I couldn't seem to dig up the thread. I'm about 3 1/2 weeks post-op and my doctor says I can exercise, but I'm nervous. I had the last of my stitches removed 4 days ago and he put a staple in my belly button which he plans on removing next Friday. I just fear that by using some of my workout vids (Biggest Loser, Jillian, ect) that I'll bust/tear something. I think about the stitches/staples and the port on my muscle and everything in between going wrong. I know I should stay away from heavy weight lifting (not a prob since the heaviest weights I have are about 6 pounds) and ab exercises, but what about these vids. Is anyone else…

I have been doing the Jillian Michaels 30 day shred for a couple of days now and find difficulty in doing the jumping jacks because of it being uncomfortable with my stomach bouncing up and down. Usually I do a few then hold my abdomen with my hands and keep doing the foot work of a jumping jack and I feel like I'm not getting the full benefit of the workout. I went to the doctor yesterday for my check up and fill and asked about suggestions of what I could buy to help me out. They suggested wearing a full body briefer when I work out to help out, so last night I went to the mall with my husband to look for a tool box at Sears and decided to check out the lingerie departm…

So, I decided that I need to "get up off the couch" and do something with more exercise. What better idea than to do a triathlon, right? I'm trying to convince myself to enter. It's in early december, so I would have time to train between now and then. I'm not in horrible shape, but I could be better. I'm down 35lbs, down to 255ish. I guess I just need convincing that I'm not just wasting my time and that i'm going to make an ass of myself in the process. HELP???? :faint:

Hi! So I bought a body ball and am now making the fiance pump it up for me :001_wub:. Hahaha. Anyway, it came with a little exercise booklet but I haven't tried any of them yet since I'm only a week and a half out. I was wondering if anyone else had one and what ya'll do with them? Do they work well? My physical therapist suggested getting one and just sitting on it when I can't be active (since I'm a student that includes lots of studying time bleh!) and that it would help tighten my abs & help with posture. Any thoughts? I also got one of Leslie Sansone's walking DVDs - it has 5 different 12 minute miles. I did two earlier, so 2 miles in 24 minutes....and I thou…

I woke up this morning so excited because I have been cleared to start walking 30 minutes a day. Well, I don't have a treadmill, and I have an appointment this morning so instead of going to the gym, I decided to use my elliptical. I got all pumped to do 30 minutes while watching Good Morning America. I couldn't even do it for 5 minutes without my legs starting to feel weak and I'm completely out of a breath! So, now I'm upset that I can't even do the elliptical. I'm not looking for pity. I'm looking for tips to start this whole working out! I'm not allowed to lift anything yet, just slight cardio. I can walk 30 minutes on a treadmill. I'm hoping to be able to ev…
