So, I have not been a member of a gym since my surgery because I couldn't afford it. There is a local gym here that offers a summer special for teachers. It's $130 for May-August. I can do that! Anyway, I signed up and went to my first class yesterday. OUCH! I'm in major pain today! This class was like Jillian Michaels 30-day Shred on CRACK and every other illegal substance that will kill you. I mean, I've worked hard at home with Jillian's DVDs, but this class but tputs those to shame. Even though I've lost over 100 pounds, I was still the biggest person in the room. All of the women there were skinny, hard-bodies. I have to say I was proud of myself for mo…

I've lost quite a bit in the past few months and I notice that some areas are thinning up faster than others and while I have no problem doing overall exercise to help the overall weight loss, I have to admit that the one area I'm currently horrified by is under my arms. I'm seriously afraid I will pull a flying squirrel if I move my arms wrong. I know I need to do more arm work to help tone the muscles in the tricep area to give support to my bat wings; anyone have some good advice on what worked for them? Thanks!

(ie skinny, very healthy, fit, overweight, want to be fit, etc.) I don't like being in a swim suit, but I think water exercise would be fun. I just don't want to feel self-conscious if there is a bunch of skinny beautiful women around... you know?

I see so many people writing about their daily calorie deficits and some of them seem so high. I'm getting my bodybugg hopefully on Friday and I'm trying to figure out what would be the highest healthy daily deficit without getting into starvation mode territory. I read that you shouldn't go over a 500 calorie/day deficit and that deficit should lead to a 1lb a week weightloss but that sounds like a bit of a conservative number to me. I should be able to at least double that number daily without my body going into starvation mode, am I right or is this another one of those things that I'm going to have to figure out on my own because everyone is different?

So, with fitness, I need to develop new habits. My whole life, I've been a fairly cerebral guy, and I've never been one for sports or fitness. My career -- as a computer programmer -- is both mentally and financially rewarding, but it is very sedentary. Being the guy who was usually "picked last for the team" (due to obesity; by nature I have the build of a football player, but since I'm so sedentary, my body was always soft and unformed) I never cared much for organized sports. He didn't ask me about my calorie intake, he just knew (and he is right.) He then told me my next step is to begin exercising to build muscle to lessen the loose skin. But what I must do first is get my calorie intake up to 700-800 calories a day. He said it is impossible to build muscle when you are getting only 500 cal/day. It all made sinse to me. 39. 1. Staircase Workouts ? This is great because stairs are everywhere. Try mixing stairs sprints with an upper body exercise like pushups or pull-ups. If done with a high enough intensity, stairs workouts help to create changes throughout your entire body due to the muscle building and fat burning hormonal response and metabolism increase that you get through working the biggest muscle groups in your entire body. 2. Wind Sprints and Hill Sprints - Find any open field in a park or athletic field and try 50, 75, and 100-yard all-out wind sprints. After each sprint, rest long enough to catch your breath before the next one (generally 1-2 minutes). 3. Kettlebell Training …
