About Me

  • State
    Colorado
My lapband story...well I've thought about WLS for a few years now and last year when 2 younger people that my family knew got bypass surgery it was kind of a way for me to open the communication about WLS for myself. I don't think anyone expected me to fallow threw with this surgery at all. All my friends and family (except for the 2 that did the GNY) would say well as long as your getting the band and not the bypass. By the time I made up my mind in Feb to go see Dr. Johnell things were already well on there way for me. I took my time getting all the test and such that he required just to make sure I was really ready for this and this is what I wanted. I've tried many times to loose weight but I have never been able to get under 251lbs but I was also well over 300lbs a few times as well. By June I had everything done for Johnell and they submitted to my insurance. Just two weeks to the day I got my approval and set my surgery for July 23rd. Here I am just 2 days post op and so far having a pretty good and easy time. I knew I would recover with ease because I made sure my head was ready for all these changes and eating only liquids for 5 weeks post op. My tummy feels strange but not really hungry right now. I've stayed on pretty good track with drinking something about every 15 mins. Today I've had more gas pains but I think that is normal and nothing seems to be hurting out of the ordinary. My hopes and dreams of what this band is going to do for me is allow me to loose another 100+ pounds. Fit into regular size clothing and any and all stores I wish to shop and over all prove to me that one portion is enough food to fill me up. Yes I was one of those that isn't full until the plate the pan the bowl and the whatever was gone.
