Hello everyone! I began my journey 18 months ago. It took me several months after going to my first seminar to.decide that gastric surgery was for me. At first, I thought this is the easy way out and that I just needed to work out more and eat less, so I gave that a try. 18 months later, I weigh more dieting and exercising! I love food, and I eat so often I don't even realize I am eating. I enjoy working out, but as my weight has climbed, it has become more difficult to work out. So, 7 months ago, I decided this surgery is for me! I am eventually healthy except for being fat and miserable (praise Yehovah for that!). I did not have 3 years of documented medical history,…

Just got home today and feel so overwhelmed. My doctor doesn't want me to take gas x strips and I feel completely swollen and full of air. I've been walking a lot but when I try to sleep I get pain in my stomach area. I felt like I was so prepared before surgery and now I feel lost and scared to make the wrong choices. Any advice?

  8. hi, Got my EGD done today and everything was normal but there was an area of localized congestive gastropathy...DR did bx's but i'm stressing....anyone had this? is this a contraindication of surgery? HELP if you know.....

As I read this post and try to gather as much information regarding my sleeve. Pre-op, Post-op and otherwise, I hadn't read any stories on "morbidly obese" potential or current sleevers.. If your out there, I would like to hear your journey. I am 5'4" and 422 lbs scheduled for my sleeve surgery 11/5. Super excited but scared out of my wits.

I appreciate no negative comments. Just because my BMI isnt 40 or more doesn't mean I do not deserve a chance to be healthier.

  14. So I know some of you already do this, but I find setting small goals gives me little victories along the way and prevent me from getting discouraged when stalls hit. When you have large amount of weights to lose it can seem daunting to reach a huge goal. Setting small ones along the way help us reach them. The way I do it is set a goal and state the reason why it's my goal. Then I set several others after them. See below: Starting today, 209.6 (down from 243.6-includes 2 week pre-op and surgery on 3/13/12) 1st goal- lose 6 (this will take my overall weight loss, including pre-op to 40 lbs/ weight will be 203.6) 2nd goal-lose 4 (this will take me to Onederland, …

  15. Like to many on this board I've been overweight my entire life. The moment for me that's stuck in my head is a conversation I had with my ex husband only months after over separation. I was 22, and weighted well over 250 pounds. Throughout our 3 year marriage, he was very much in shape, yet killed any drive I had to lose weight myself. Actually saying he didn't want a skinny woman, and would leave if I lost weight. Well, in this conversation, he says to me, "yea, your weight was an issue for me". That was 2002, 10 years ago, and not only do I still remember the his words, but I remember the hurt and still feel it when I remember that conversation. In 2008 a…

Well, yesterday I turned 50& today I started the pre op diet. My surgery date is 10/24 and I must say that i'm optimistic. I'm a revision patient, originally fitted with an unsuccessful Lap band. The band resulted in four additional corrective surgeries. I ended up in the ER where the band had to be removed. My ER surgeon is now my bariactric Dr & one of the best in this field. Lucky me!! I'm optimistic because this time I have a great Dr and i'm much wiser. I've scheduled counseling to deal with all of my "stuff", I plan to start learning yoga, and finally, I'm working on a nutrition overhual. I'm going to attack obesity from all levels. I have been wearing my elastic waist pants and choosing ones that will stay up but have plenty of space in the waist. I have been wearing my grown up work clothes for several hours a day but the panty hose ( tmi I know) and pants with defined waist and tucked in blouse is very uncomfortable after a couple hours. Any one here just have to just suck it up and wear it? If so, how long does it take?

During my last pregnancy, I had a lot of complications such as gestational diabetes, high blood pressure and liver issues. I was told I might have to be induced due to all of my health issues. Thankfully she was healthy and beautiful! That's when I knew something had to be done... I tried weight watchers , atkins, medical weight loss and te list goes on. Hi guys,so nice to be accepted into your fine group. I am just looking into Lap Banding, especially the prices. Seeing the prices for private patients has made me sadder, as i could never raise that sort of money like over $4-5,000 on a carers pension as i am not in a medical insurance, only medicare. I have been told i can be put on a waiting list as a public patient as i have type2 Diabetes(only tablets) But could be looking at many years in waiting..... at 49 years of age there is not many options left. I am so going to enjoy reading everyones journeys.. Thank you all xx
