Hi Guys :) I Am A Newbie :)

Hi guys,so nice to be accepted into your fine group.

I am just looking into Lap Banding, especially the prices.

Seeing the prices for private patients has made me sadder, as i could

never raise that sort of money like over $4-5,000 :( on a carers pension as

i am not in a medical insurance, only medicare.

I have been told i can be put on a waiting list as a public patient as i have type2 Diabetes(only tablets)

But could be looking at many years in waiting..... at 49 years of age there is not many options left.

I am so going to enjoy reading everyones journeys.. Thank you all xx

Hi Sharon and welcome!

Medicare is insurance, and it does cover Lap Band. I'm on Medicare due to being disabled by Multiple Sclerosis and my Lap Band surgery was covered by Medicare.

Is it possible you're on Medicaid? Maybe got the two confused?

Best wishes to you!

Hi Missy, thank you for the welcome :)I should of worded better lol, I do know Lap band

is available on Medicare.

That was why i wrote how the waiting list for public banding

could lead into many years.(on medicare)

I was more looking at in the next 6 months or so,which we can not have done on medicare

only private medical insurance or full out of pocket expenses.

Congrats on your achievement to...and

Best wishes and many Blessings achieving the rest xx

I guess i dont understand what you r saying I am in medicare and got the ok within days of getting all the required work up done which was done by my weight loss clinic. please explain more or maybe you coud look around for more places that do it.

Hey line dancer,

I live in Country Victoria and my doctor

said he could put me on the waiting list for the surgery but i am looking

at least 3 years waiting time and even then i may be turned down as my BMI

is only 33..... aha... i just looked on your profile as you are in the US... sorry i am

in Australia.... that is probably why the waiting is longer.
