Hi everyone. What a great place to come to share stories and get advice. I am one week 3 days post op. I have a question for everyone. I had nausea really bad the first few days. I mean, I couldn't even drink 15ml of liquid lortab that they were trying to give me for pain. I'd gag so hard and had the dry heaves. I know, TMI. But it was horrible. Now, I don't have the nausea as much, but as soon as I put anything in my mouth, which is liquids now, or pudding, etc., I get really nauseated. Has anyone experienced this? I called the nurse and should be getting a call back soon.

This may be too much information, but I've noticed that my BMs are considerably smellier than they were pre-surgery, not that it ever smelled like roses. Is this due to the surgery, or is it because of all the protein I'm taking in?

I have so many fears. First of all my marriage is a bit rocky right now mainly because I have been so mean to my husband for so long due to the fact that I am angry with myself. I've been stuck in this horrible body for far too long it is cause pain for myself and others I'm worried it after the surgery when I get my new body that I may lose my husband at the same time not because I am trying to leave him but because he is been so resentful towards me for far too long and I have allowed him to deal with this pain on his own instead of doing something about it. I want to tell him the same story over and over again that everything will be fine I will change and you have not…

I'm going back in forth about having the Lapband System done. I have gallstones at the age of 27 and because I'm over 300lbs they won't take my gallbladder. My surgeon suggested the Lapband. I'm really nervous and scared and don't know what to do at this point. I'm having bad back pain and sick all the time from the gallstones. I would like to hear some of the pros and cons of having this done. Thanks so much for everyones input.

Hello everyone. I'll get straight to the point, I never wanted a bypass but i got a botched gastric sleeve surgery and was unable to eat and drink for nearly 3 months. My only option to was having a gastric bypass-it was a necessary revision surgery if I ever wanted to eat or drink again. I'm nearly three weeks out and having a very hard time. I was eating ok two weeks out then all of a sudden i started becoming nauseous and losing my appetite. I have a Gtube and a jp drain tube in-jp comes out Wednesday thank God. I'm having a hard time adjusting to the fact some things I'll never be able to eat again. It saddens me. I would really love to meet someone in the Toledo or M…

Just joined this forum today. I am a 49 yr old female in Tennessee who has been overweight for 40 years. I am married with two boys and my whole family is very supportive of my decision to lose weight. I will have my sleeve surgery in 8 days at Vanderbilt. I am 5'2" and my starting weight was 327 - I currently weigh 289. I would love to be in the 130-140 range. The entire process has been very smooth because Vanderbilt is extemely organized with support groups, packets of information and capabilities to email your doctor with questions. I started the process in June and my insurance companye required me to lose 10% - this was the hardest part. However, I found that…

I'm going to attend my seminar in Jan 2013. I weigh 250 pds. Have been dieting and changed my life style, nothing works. I have BCN Advantage Ins. My older sister had the sleeve done last summer. Does anyone know if you still have to go through a 6 mo diet plan in order to get the surgery? My sister had Hap and did not have to go through that. With my other insurance I had to go to weight loss clinic for 6 mo. And they refused to pay for the surgery because I fell short 3 pounds. I lost 48 pds. Now I have gained half of it back. I need help.

Calling all sleevers or potential sleevers who were sleeved or who live in Europe. I just started a group called European Sleevers. Please join in and let's talk about kilos and metric measure and any special challenges or opportunities that we have here verses the US. (We don't have to worry about costco sized packages here!). But I also think there are fewer people with weight problems here too. And, then there's the little privately owned restaurants that look at you funny if you want to split a dish and look hurt when you eat so little! Please join in if you have a European connection. Tell us where you were sleeved and where you live and little about your story. I j…

I was in a 34 in waist so I decided I would get some 32 in waist and I would shrink into them but to my surprise I was able to wear them already. Hello everyone. I just wanted to share an update after surgery on Aug 8th. So far I have lost 103 Lbs. Friday my Dr. told me that I've set a new record for weight lost with his patients and that at this pace I should reach my goal before the end of the year! Started at 324 lbs. and of this morning I weight 221 lbs. My goal is 180 lbs. The lab results, after 2 months, show that all my numbers are back to normal. I no longer have a fatty liver which I was told that would turn into cirrhosis if I didn't take care of it. High blood pressure is gone and cholesterol levels back to normal. In regards to clothes, went from 46 pants to 36 and neck from 20 1/2 to 17. …

Hi All, I'm Lei. I'm new to the board. Obviously And new to the bariatric surgery program at Geisinger Medical Center in Pennsylvania. I haven't been green lighted yet, just attended my first class and have made the decision to go forward with the vertical gastric sleeve a few days before the class. Don't get me wrong, it's not like I made the decision over night (I suspect, not a lot of us have!). I've been struggling with my weight my whole life, for the most part and have been considering surgery as an intervention for the past 6 years. I guess you could say the "straw that broke the camel's back" was my recent trip to Europe. I was boarding a plane from Dubli…

Hey y'all, I have UHC choice plus, but my plan requires that I go through Optimum Health for approval. I was just wondering if anyone else has experience dealing with them? They sent me a lot of different forms and requirements, all seem to be pretty much in line with what my surgeon had me do - letter of medical necessity from my md, psych eval, etc. I'm hoping someone who dealt with them can advise me on what exactly they're looking for as far as the medically supervised diet. The form says I can use weight watchers and submit proof of participation, but also have to see my doctor at least twice during. The form for my doctor to fill out just has lines for them to dat…
