Tomorrow will be my 10 month surgiversary. I had gone from a size 18 jeans to a size 4 skinny jeans. (I have always had very skinny legs.) Yesterday I put on a pair of 4 skinny's I bought a about a month ago but never had worn since they were still a little tight then. And guess what? THEY ARE TOO BIG! I returned them since I never took the tags off and still had the receipt stuck in the pocket and tried on a pair of size 2 and they fit perfectly! I can't believe it! I was so shocked to be in a 4, and now I am blown away from the size 2 skinny's! It is so nice to put on a pair of jeans and zip up the zipper with no problem, and feel comfy all day! I never wore je…

Surgery Thursday afternoon and back home Friday at noon. Took some adjustments, but finally got on a schedule. Slight soreness, but seem to be coping. Copious amounts of gas, belching and otherwise. Off the pain meds this morning (Saturday)and feeling OK. Have been sipping the Protein shakes and Water. It just all seems surreal right now, but the worst part are the bitter crushed up meds. Wish they made liquid Nexium! My nose was bleeding from all the dry oxygen, but finally got that cleared up. Finally shed all the IV fluids they pumped in me. Feeling pretty good right now. BopPop

Well, my one year anniversary was on Sept. 27, 2012, and I am down 86lbs. I am very excited & blessed to have come thus far without any issues or problems. I am down from a size 26 to a 14W, from 296lbs to 210lbs. I am so close to "onederland"!! I am continuing on my journey with about 50lbs to goal. I will post pictures soon. It has been an amazing journey. Before surgery, I had diabetes, high blood pressure, acid reflux, and lots of swelling. All diseases are gone, but still dealing with some acid reflux. I feel so much better physically and confidence level has skyrocketed. I am excited about continuing my journey in the coming months.

So in 2009 I had lap band. Lost 25 pounds. November of 2011 I developed severe pain and other issues . Doctor removed the lap band stating that I developed a sudden allergy to the silicone. March 28th of this year I had gastric bypass. To date I have lost 80 pounds. Best decision I have ever made! I hated the band. Was either too tight or not tight enough. Not much weight loss either. My husband had the lap band in 2010. Due to not losing weight he got it removed and had the bypass 3 weeks ago. He's lost 30 pounds in the first two weeks. I'm so happy that I did this revision!!!

Hi Everyone, I am new to the boards as I just found this site. I went to the surgeon to have an abdomen hernia repaired, but the doctor said he couldn't fix it without me losing weight as I was 100 pounds overweight. As I have had several abdomen surgeries in the past, he said I was an excellent candidate for the Gastric Sleeve. I went home, thought about it and discussed it with my family. Everyone, including myself, agreed that I should get the surgery. So, on November 7, 2011, I had the Gastric Sleeve Surgery. Everything appeared fine. Even Thanksgiving came and went with no problems. However, the first week of December, I developed complications. I started running …

Hello. My name is Nicole and I have my seminar on Wednesday. I am just beginning my journey and have so many questions. I guess the first of my questions would be what should I expect for the amount of time until I am scheduled for surgery? I am planning on having my insurance pay for the surgery, but haven't even begun that process yet... I would just really appreciate any input at all at as to what I should expect, not just about time...but everything

I got my phone call this morning, my psych eval is scheduled for Nov 15th. I am excited that things are moving forward. I have 5 more pounds to go until I've reached my pre-surgery goal weight and my surgeon will meet with me to schedule my date. It's kinda hard not to want to "cheat" and crash diet to drop those 5 pounds. My surgery date won't be until June, but I really want to get the date on the books so that my position is secured. I work as a school bus driver and I'd like to have our 10 weeks of summer break to recover. Patience, patience, patience, I know, But DAMN it's hard to do.

Hello everyone. I am not, necessarily, new to this site. I have been reading many of the forums and topics on here since May of 2012. I would have to say thank you to everyone for the great encouragement to me and those that have questions or needs. I am 41 years old, husband of 20 years to my best friend and father to 4 awesome children. I started my journey on April 15, 2012 with my initial information appointment at my surgeon’s office. After that meeting I knew that this is what I was supposed to be doing. My recorded weight at that visit…400 pounds. One advantage that I had throughout this whole process is that my wife and I did this together. I had my surgery on Jun…

Good morning friends, I was asked to tell you about my sleeve journey. I am so glad I had it done a year ago. Truly, although, it's not been as easy as I thought, but the complications were not from the sleeve itself. My husband of 40 years was diagnosed with prostate cancer 4 months ago and my mother passed away 3 months ago... both of those terribly emotional events have affected my success. I've lost 70 of the 90 pounds I wanted to lose, although I am now back on my eating program and expect to finish this journey. Physically I feel wonderful. This last Sat. we climbed all over the USS Iowa (one of the 4 large battleships being restored and preserved in port…

Hello to all of you. I'm finding this site very useful. My op went very well and I had a hiatal hernia fixed at the same time. I'm still on the mush stage of the diet, but have lost 15 lbs so far. I wasn't asked to do a pre op diet. Apart from incredible gas/wind and loo blocking constipation (cured by lactulose) I'm fine.

To the point that I couldn't do it any more I was so dehydrated it was horrible. Well friends...wish me luck. Tomorrow is my first official weigh in since I took on a new healthier eating style. Lets see if the scale shows if my efforts were worthwhile. The wife and I have been regulars at the monthly meetings. Last night was a cooking demonstration. First time I was able to tolerate yogurt...it was unsweetened Greek, but still counts in my book. And I'm MOST happy to admit that since she is now eating WITH me we have successfully been able to control her blood sugars!!!!! I'm so proud of her...you can't put that kind of happiness into proper words. And she too is slowly losing some weight. All in all this will turn out to be the best decision …

I know food is our addiction or we wouldnt be here. I have heard that when you have an addiction and then you fix that addiction you start another one. Because as humans we do that to lean on something self gratification. For you folks who have had the food addiction and have had surgery and no longer are addicted to food. Have you seen your self get another one like shopping, drinking, smoking. maybe even exercise?

I can't believe it's been 6 months! I took my 6 month pics yesterday the 28th. My weight loss has been "stalled" for the past two months. I lost 3 lbs last month and maybe 1 this month. So I think my honeymoon phase was 4 months. I posted 13 week pics and they don't look that much different than these. I can tell I'm shrinking though. And I've still been working out and started doing TapOut XTreme workouts along with my Elliptical. Here's a summary of my stats and goals: Height: 5'11" still an amazon Weight: 288 to 231.4 lbs Size: tight 20W to 18 regular (16 in dresses) Tops: size XL to L Goal: 190 size 14 (in pants and dresses) not sure what weight that req…

I looked into WLS a few years ago, but my insurance didn't cover it, so that was that. A couple weeks ago, my wife told me that someone at her work is having WLS and that her insurance covers it. I've always had her insurance as my secondary insurance, but it never occured to me that they would cover it even if mine didn't. I called the clinic that her co-worker had hers done at, and inquired about my insurance situation. Sure enough, if my primary insurance doesn't cover, the secondary will. That clinic is out of network, but told me that they will bill as out of network, but then for my co-pay they will only charge me as much as if I was in-network. I made an appointmen…

I am 60+ and from Michigan. I started this process over two years ago when I found out my insurance company wouldn't approve unless you participated first in a 1 year physician guided weight-loss program. My husband and I went together, I lost about 30 lbs (he lost 60), but we had to eat their food which was very expensive. When we began to reintroduce what I call "street food", I began to gain even as we started maintenance. Of course, I gained it all back plus..... After reading "The Patient's Guide to Weight Loss Surgery" I realized no diet was ever going to work. So I started to re-pursue my first quest for bariatric surgery. That started this past April, 2012 when I …
