If you have to--go to Mexico! I had a BMI of 38 but I did have type II diabetes. No insurance coverage for me. You can get type 2 diabetes at BMI of 30-35 and higher. I was 35 years old and my BMI 37-38 when I found out.Another lady had just found out she had type 2 diabetes at BMI of 32 the same day as me. Don't wait--get the weight off now! My diabetes is in remission but I may have never had it in the first place if I had gotten sleeved sooner.

I'm trying to gain the 10 lb I am supposed to I thought I would been sleeved before the year was over. I'm trying to get my appointment with the nutritionist and and make then see my bmi is 40. All I hope is that they don't try to push my appointment because I have all the requirements done. I don't want them to get overdue and for me to have to complete all those papers again I'm drained. Ill let u guys know what answer ill get for tomorrow

Probably things out there are different but here it's on the FDA that you have to a bmi of 35-39 with some type of problem depression, blood high pressure, diabetes etc. then 40 it's acceptable to send to the health insurance. But good luck with your journey re-read things over so you wouldn't be going through the waist of time I am.

My BMI was a 36 and no other health problems. My first appt with Dr. was 7/2/12. Completed all testing required. I was approved with no complications. I was so worried I would not and my Dr. just said stop worrying about it. My first surgery date was 10/1 but Iron was to low, went for two iron transfusions all is good now! New date 10/23/12.

Really I guess every surgeon is different because i already had a surgery date with another surgeon but left the hospital and opened his own clinic and called some of his patients. But now they made me see another surgeon that's in the hospital and I guess he's strict. It has really disappointed me I was looking forward to getting surgery now in December but it is what it is on Monday I'm planning on heading to the surgeons clinic (the one that left all his patients) to see what's up.

I actually walked in after getting denied by the surgeon with my mother and she said she can't do anything but ended up giving me an appointment for all the way until December. And I have everything done all I need to see is a nutritionist. I can't wait until I get it. I feel like regular diets won't do anything for me I always work my way around it, it enough of that I need some change.

By the way this is in New York City in St Luke's hospital. I'm anxious all I could do is pray and thank god for giving me life I guess things happen for a reason but I'm still going to the surgeons office that left because its not fair.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
