Hi Newbie ! I decided to have the surgery then let my brother and sister talk me out of it. I was so mad at myself.... But the end result is I have decided to move foward and am now waiting for my surgery date. So very excited. As I told my family, I will listen to your opinions, thoughts, and concerns with an open mind but I am still going to do this for ME !! They say "Oh you can do this on your own", you dont need this. Well guess what Yes I DO !! Your husbands support is the one you will need most. Also by joining lap band talk.com you will get lots of support. Everyone here seems to nice..... I'm looking forward to making new friends along this journey.. The bottom line is your doing this for yourself not your family........ Thanks Belinda

I'm so very happy for all of you that have your date. I do not have mine as of yet, but hopefully will know on November the 9th. I have never been so excited for this "lifestyle change"..... I hope that my next post will be my surgery date.. Good luck to all of you!!!

Thank you everyone. I can see I will be making new friends along the way.. @chicagorose, why is taking so long to qualify? 7 months is a long time. I'm a little worried that I will have to fight with my insurance company. I have heard stories of being denied. Hope that is not the case... @floridays OMGosh you look amazing. Congatulations to you !!!!!!! My inspiration. Again thank you all for your advise. Today we have a group meeting with the surgeon. I'll let you all know how that went. Have a great day....

Hi.. I'm 50 years old and have been over weight for 48 of them.... I am going to be a new grandmother in April 2013 and just want to be around to watch my grandchild grow up. I am in meeting stage, with therapist, dr, etc.... Hoping that I will be having my surgery the end of December. Happy New Year to me.... :) Any feed back would be welcome. Anyone at the same stage as I am. Your thoughts and concerns? Thanks Belinda
