Hi. I was sleeved on 7/31. I lost 43 lbs in the 4 week pre-op diet, gained 7 lbs while I was in the hospital, lost that and then gained 9 lbs during the full liquid stage (that was a heartbreaker!). I finally lost that. I have lost a total of 58 lbs since July 1. Rationally, I know that I have never lost 58 lbs in 10 weeks in my long history of dieting and I should be thrilled. I am measuring, counting, exercising and following the plan religiously and have only lost 13 lbs. since surgery. When you have a lot to lose, this is a little defeating. Just need some encouragement. Thanks!

I everyone I wanted to check in. I had my first fill about a week ago, I feel great I'm down 73 lbs and loosing quickly. I fill great, I've been exercising more and finally toning. I'm down three pant sizes and maybe working on the next size down. I do a lot of Water aerobics and walk a bunch. I hope everyone else is doing good. I had 1.4cc filled out of my 4cc band. Eating about 1/3 cup and I'm full. Gotta eat about 40-60g of protien and fit in what else I can between veggies and fruit. I make my own own ton chicken wraps and been eating great. Finally I have left overs in the fridge. Feels so weird to have extra food. Guess my friend will help with that. Here are …

Just checking in. It's been 2 years since my gastric sleeve! My before and after pix are loaded as of today vs 2 years ago. I completely forgot what I was and had become. It has been an amazing journey! I almost went for the lap band and THANK GOODNESS someone talked me out of it! The sleeve has been a dream come true!!!!! I started as a 5'11 male (still 5'11 lol), 260 lbs. I am now 179/180 and lightest I have been since a shorter child. I have exceeded all expectations. My medical goal was 200 and i beat that by 20 lbs. I won't lie. It was easy in the beginning and then I started working out. Without the extra work, I was stable at 200 or so. Not too shabby. I work out…

Well, four months down It's funny, it seems like it was just last week I had it done....and at the same time I can’t believe it’s only been 4 months. Your life gets into a routine, you do x,y,z go to bed, get up, do it again. It's not to the point where my life is normal to me yet...but it's beyond the new car smell now. Everyone around me comments on my weight loss. How good I look, how fast it's coming off. While I see it, I still see all the work still needed. I look in the mirror and see progress yes, but also sigh at what’s looking back at me. It's funny what four months can do..... In four months I have lost 100 lbs. I got on the table at 375lbs May …

Hi Everyone, I'm new to this site and I've been reading the posts ---thought I'd take a minute to jump in to say hello. I'm having my surgery probably in early October in Boston at Tufts Medical Center and I'd like to connect with anyone who had their surgery done there. The team has been great all throughout my pro-op process and I feel well-educated and as prepared as I can be for something I've never experienced:) Like most of you who have posted, I'm excited and slightly scared but fully committed to doing this. I will post more when I get my surgery date and hope to connect with some October and or Tufts sleevers to share the experience.

I find that the closer I get to my surgery date, the less attractive I find myself. What's going on here I always prided myself as a BBW(Big Beautiful Woman), but now I see a "fat" slob. I'm seeing flaws that I have never seen before. I'm wondering if this is how the world have been seeing me for years. I dress nicely I get my hair and nails done; however now I'm just not feeling sexy or beautiful. I keep fantasizing about who I might be or what I will look like after surgery. Can anyone else identify with this? I know it sounds crazy trust me I'm a counselor but I still can't help but to critically observe myself. I know surgery is not the answer but I would like to w…

I guess what I'm asking you all do you have any advice for me. Help....

I'm 5 days post op and have been sleeping on back since my sleeve but tonight I just can't get comfortable and I'm extremely tired. So I'm going to attempt to sleep on my side with the body pillow I had from my pregnancy and see how this works tonight. If I don't get sleep I feel myself becoming very aggravated

Have had great success with my weight loss and hit my 6mo mark at 112lbs lost.. Then I decided I would try drinking alcohol again. I tried to make "good" choices on Labor Day weekend and got drinks without a lot of sugar and so called skinny drinks.. I was able to drink more then I thought I would.. Had a great time, only to see a 5lb gain in the scale today. I wanted to cry. That fun weekend was not worth it!!!! I barely ate all week trying to make up for drinking and that clearly don't work . I still feel bloated and am really disappointed in my actions. I really wish I hadn't done it and I need to learn from this and stop acting like I'm 21 !!!

Okay so I live alone so I tend not to cook a lot. Pre surgery my freezer was stocked with pot pies and hot pockets whenever I was feeling hungry I would just eat that. Now now post op I'm having a hard time finding a quick high protein thing I can make In a snap. I currently have bagel bites the cheese pizza I currently warm up 3 in the oven and just eat the sauce and cheese but not only is this not good for me it also isn't the best tasting either although it does get rid of my pizza craving lol. Any ideas? What do you eat. Also I was sleeved July 23rd and if you were sleeved around the same time or have questions about my journey please feel free to message me.

I got my sleeve this past tuesday. Doctor had to repair a hiatal hernia. Truthfuly on Tues, Wed, Thurs. all I could do was think "why did I do this ?" I was scared, all of a sudden I was afraid everytime I took a drink or ate a popsicle. I don't know why , but it was scary. I was scheduled to go home Thurs morning , but early in the morning I had heaves and spasms. I was in tears scared. When the doctor came in he reassured me that it was nothing "unusal" and said he would order me a steroid and put me on a anti nausea and spasm med. He knew I was flustered and said, ' if you would feel more confortable why don't you stay one more night " and I took him up on that. After…

Hi! I'm Kelsey! I'm 24 years old. I was sleeved on June 2, 2014. It's been a little over 3 months and I'm down 78 pounds!! I started at my heaviest at 319, and am down to 241. I don't think I've been below 250 in maybe 4 years. Getting this surgery was one of the best decisions I've ever made. I'm getting healthy. I'm getting happier. I'm getting so much more confident with myself. I used to think that getting WLS would be the easy way out. Boy was I WRONG!! I'm super excited for the things that I get to experience and enjoy in the future. These are the things I'm super excited about now, when I'm halfway to my goal weight! 1) My ring (size 8) that I have bee…

I had a lap band 4 years ago, and lost 100 pounds within two years. I had 130 total to lose. I have not felt hunger the last two years, since I had my last adjustment. I have gained 20 pounds over the last 2 years, even though I barely eat. I am confused as to why I am gaining weight. I don't want to get another adjustment because I know I don't eat enough as it is now. I am not sure what to do.

I had my sleeve done 2 days ago and I must say it isn't that bad as far as pain compared to the first night. The night after surgery is just so painful. Today I drank some chicken broth, protein shake, and now I'm sipping on some water. Still a little pain but I walked around today and it helped.

Hi guys! I'm new to the site, just thought I would check it out! I had my sleeve done August 2013 in Mexico. I started out 235 wearing 14-16 pants and L-XL shirts, I currently weigh 125 wearing 2-4 pants. It has been an interesting journey to say the least, but one that I would not change- for anything! I would recommend it to anyone and everybody!

I am seriously considering VSG instead of any other of the weight loss surgeries. Gastric Bypass seems too drastic, and the Lap Band to much maintenance. My BMI is 42 so my medical insurance will pay 80%. I would like to know if anyone has experience with any Drs in the Sacramento area and can tell me about what it costs. Your help is greatly appreciated.

Hi everyone, It will be 8 weeks this Tuesday since I had my Roux-en-Y surgery. Today I got on the scale and I weigh less than 300 pounds! I haven't been less than 300 pounds for 10 years I was almost in tears when I saw that number 298! I feel so blessed and lucky to have had the surgery done! I had a very smooth recovery and I am a rule follower so I have never vomited I've never had dumping syndrome and I'm a fiend for exercise now. I'm walking 7 miles a day and going to do my first 5K next weekend. Thanks for all of your support and role modeling that you have given me!! Namaste, Mamie60

Im not being facetious when I say this - I'm serious. Im considering getting the sleeve, and Im having a hard time imagining how eating will be afterwards. For instance, is it that you just don't think about food? you don't even feel hungry most of the day? How do you deal with big family meals (like christmas or thanksgiving)? What about restaurant eating? Are your favourite foods still favourites or is that all different? Help me understand what to expect! Rachel

Hey there everyone! I'm Jeff! I'm 24, from NJ and 9/29 is my surgery date. Right now I'm mostly feeling ecstatic. Absolutely no fear has set in yet. My health had been on a steady decline the past 2 years from bad eating habits, although I had tried to lose weight before. This time, diet and exercise were not going to be given up on and in just over 3 months I lost 45 pounds! This has me even more motivated to have the sleeve and know that it will be my tool in keeping the weight off. Anyway, I just wanted to check in, say hi, and hope I'm doing it in the right place. Looking forward to making a bunch of new friends and learning plenty of awesome tips!

My sleeve was schedule for 8/29 but my doctor already had a procedure schedule and his office got it mixed up. So mine was pushed back to 9/5. As the days get closer I'm getting nervous and the fact that I have no one to go with me to the hospital doesn't make it any easier. Right about now I'm needing some words of encouragement

I've decided and am excited!!! I'm new here and looking forward to being a part of a group that is moving towards positive change and on such a life altering journey. Now that's exotic!! I'm 60, have tried, lost and regained so many pounds over the years that I just gave up years ago. And have gained more weight than ever. Health issues have piled up and I'm simply done with all the nonsense. It's time to change my life and give myself the chance to live longer and healthier. I'm thinking the sleeve is for me. It's either Mexico or the VA health. If I can go with the VA I will just because it's more cost effective. Anyone have their surgery wit…

Hello everyone! I have been lurking about and researching for about a month now but things just got real. I scheduled my surgery and sent the check off in the mail today!! I tried to schedule with a local surgeon but my insurance does not cover any weight loss surgery and it was going to cost $15,000 so I started researching surgery in Mexico and decided on Dr. alejandro lopez with Specialized Bariatrics. My surgery date is November 3, 2014 in Tijuana at Mi Doctor Hospital. Thankfully my husband is an English/Spanish interpreter and I've been to Guatemala before and I love Hispanic culture so I don't think I will feel uncomfortable in Tijuana. Also, my husband's parents l…

Hi everyone! I'm looking forward to getting to know some of you and reading thru the wealth of information in your posts as I embark on my weight loss journey. A little bit about myself... I'm 33 yrs old single mom of 2 boys (8 & 9 yrs old... My body had no break lol) my heaviest was 256lbs I currently weigh 238 lbs (which is what I used to weigh when I was 9 months pregnant) My goal is 120 - 130lbs. Originally it was 150 but I think I can be less and still feel good about myself. I lost the first 20 lbs when I ended my relationship and moved = major reduction in stress and more sleep, I was only sleeping like 2-3 hours a night if I was lucky due to school…

Someone please help me! It's the weekend so I can't get ahold of my surgeon. I've been breaking out the past 3 days, but today the entire right side of my forehead is cover with pimples. I've never had acne maybe 1 pimple before my period. What can this be! Also I'm sure I don't get an adequate amount of fluids in a day. It's hard. I'm hearing rumors about hormones, and fat flushing I just need answers. A friend of mine uses proactiv , another uses Clinique, which I have seen helps them! Do you guys recommend I try a fash regimen? Is this normal? I'm freaking out! This surgery come with way too much. Was this really a good idea?! ????
