Good Morning Everyone, I have just started the process to get the surgery done. Of course I am in my 1 month and my insurance require a 6 month "I CAN CHANGE" process before they can approve me. I have been overweight my whole life. I am ready to make this change, FOR ME. My family supports me and I actually have my aunt doing the whole process with me since she is also considering it as well. My boyfriend supports me all the way. I am a 27 year old Puerto Rican female with no children and engaged to an amazing guy. As a typical spanish family we LOVE our CARBS! Right after high school (9 years ago) I have gained 70 lbs. I have gone with so much and upset with myself …

  5. Started by Introvert,

I'm one month and almost one week postop and am losing maybe 1/2 pound per week. First week I lost 20 second week 4, then nothing. I was just cleared to exercise at one month and still no change. I don't understand how most have lost 30-40 by now and I'm struggling. Struggling to get in water. I keep a water bottle with me and sip ALL day but can get about 40 oz only. I was instructed to eat 3 meals a day no grazing but how can I get in the calories if I eat all the protein possible before filling up. I've resorted to peanut butter and ice cream for the last week. NOTHING'S coming off. What am I doing wrong? I could've just dieted and did better than this. At my last appt…

I had surgery Sept 15, 2014. I'm down 20 lbs but everytime i eat protein anything it makes my stomach gurgle and gurgle up my throat so loud everyone can hear it. Is that normal? Plus, i am exhausted i literally sleep all day today. I walked the mall yesterday for about 2 hours but really I'm exhausted. Does it get better?

Gaining confidence along the way.... My story is simple and short. I have lived my life eating all the wrong foods. I have many excuses for my past bad habits. Woke up one morning and realized that my longevity is not guaranteed and that my lifestyle of consuming bad food was going to cause me great harm. Decided to become healthy. Researched my options. Chose the sleeve... Just started my new life.... I am happy to have this opportunity. Highest weight 272 VSG Ready

Hi everyone, I don't have my surgery date yet, but I'm having cold feet. I am scared that I will be hungry and therefore return to all my old habits. Dieting has always proven to be ineffective for me. My willpower isn't the greatest. The only times I can actually lose weight is if I took diet pills. However all diet pills give me headaches, so for the last 4 years I have refrained from taking them and thus have gained 45 pounds. I am VERY SCARED. Everyone expects me to fail and I don't want to prove them right!

Hello! I would like to start this thread by assuring all readers that I love my band. I have been banded for 3 months now. Even if I never lost another pound, I understand things about food and eating that I never did before. For instance, what full feels like. Or, the joys of bringing home leftovers from a restaurant. Or, not feeling like I have to order the largest plate on the menu and eat multiple large helpings in order to feel satisfied. Actually, eating is now more enjoyable because I can savor it, rather than shovel it. With that being said, I have to admit that I'm quite an impatient person. I understand that I have an underlying desire for all things to hap…

Sorry just had to vent for s moment but on the flip side is I've lost 70#'s in 4 months so that's great just don't wanna loose focus because I still have 70 more pounds to go!!!

Honestly I don't feel that the lap band is working. 19. Hi all! I want to share my story because I feel like things are "hopeless" again like they did all of those years I had been dieting prior to having my gastric sleeve. I was sleeved in September of 2010 by Dr. Aceves in Mexicali. I had a wonderful experience there and would do it again in a heartbeat. In fact, I feel like I may need to do it again since the weight gain has started. I started at 240 lbs and the lowest weight I got to, which was last year at this same time, was 150 lbs. At that time, I stuidly felt like I was losing too much weight, as I wanted to stay curvy, so a friend of mine who has had the lap band, suggested I find something high calorie to s…

Ok so I went to do my final nutrition apt and exercise appt this morning. Then afterwards I jaunted over to the Dr office for my second weigh in. At the end of my allotted 5 minutes. (Ok it was longer but feels like just 5) he says ok let's get this submitted to the insurance and get you scheduled. Ok sounds normal right! But the surprise was that I thought I had another month of weigh ins! I looked at him confused and said huh. That's not right. Well they count the first visit as month one of the weigh in. I had a holy crap moment this is going to happen really fast. It's like going to a vacation spot you always wanted to go.... London, Paris and you plan for it …

Howdy from Texas! 45 year old male here who has been battling obesity for several years. The straw that broke the camels back was realizing that bad ankles, knees and hips along with diabetes and high blood pressure are going to kill me. I got tired in looking in the mirror and seeing that reflection of what I had become through laziness, bad self esteem, and poor choices. I decided it was time to get serious...and get serious now! So, now I have started my 2 week pre-op liquid diet, and I am scheduled for surgery two weeks from today. I know it's a long road to achieve my goal, but I am beyond ready. The thing is that the first 2 weeks I was unable to eat all the food, I was barely eating and I was stock in the same weight for 2-3 weeks. Now I eat a lil bit more but still under the 800 calories recommended. I do see my body changing, but the scale is not moving! I was supposed to loose at least 10 lbs. I was doing exercise and she recommended not to exercise until I'm eating all the 800cals and start losing weight. Bummer... Is there anyone out there that has experienced th…

My PCP was not very encouraging re this surgery, so I wasted years putting it on a back burner, being depressed, and hating my self image. The scale was the enemy. Hated shopping for clothes, and even though people said I didn't look my age, nothing helped. This post is not meant to be a pity party, just me baring my soul. I have 3 follow up appointments which I have strategically scheduled for right before Halloween, right before thanksgiving, and right before Christmas. I'm hoping that any minor holiday gain can be lost before the next weigh in. Surgeon was fantastic. He was patient and answered all my questions. I was hoping for a little more guidance from the nutritionist, but perhaps I'll get that more down the line. With Aetna I can be denied for even a 1lb gain, so I was hoping she would give me more guidance as to how to handle the next 3 months. Honestly though, I know what to do, I just haven'…

I was in so much pain and after all the test came back, they diagnosed me with LUPUS so the surgery was cancelled. I tried again back in 2010 but this time for the gastric bypass. I had no idea that doctors dont do patients with LUPUS. When the doctor told me that he does not operate on patients with LUPUS my feelings were so hurt, but he recommended the lap band. At that time I had heard some awful things about the lap band and plus my sis-n-law had to have hers removed due to food poisoning and slipage of the band. Now I'm b…

I had my surgery this morning at 9:15.am. I was supposed to have gastric bypass, but I received the sleeve. This is as due to my liver being huge. The doctor said that I did everything I was supposed to due to shrink it, but it was just bigger than most he's worked with. He said it would have been too dangerous to do the bypass. Right now I'm doing ok. I'm groggy and dozing off and on . I'm due to start walking around a bit shortly. I'm in pain and the pain meds seems to be helping some but not entirely. He said everything went well. Now I'm looking forward to the future.

I started my WL journey in November 2013. I lost 56 lbs before my sleeve surgery. I had surgery on sept 3, 2014. I lost 10 lbs in the first two weeks after surgery. This last week I did not lose any. In the last week I have lost 1.75" off my waist, .75" off my hips and .5" off my neck. I am grateful for the loss in inches but surprised there is a stall in the weight loss already. Have you experienced this? I am three weeks out from surgery tomorrow. I am still on the liquids and some puréed foods.

I am in a foul mood and really feel down on myself. The ONLY weight loss I have experienced since April after the lap band was in the first week. I wasn’t a high BMI to start with (30 bmi) so I thought it may not come off as quickly but I never thought it would not come off. When I first considered a lap band I telephoned the clinic and the dr. telephoned me back. I never did meet directly with my dr until 15 minutes before the surgery. I only wanted initially a bariatric balloon for 6 months. I thought that this quick tool may snap me back into a healthy weight and do something about my grazing (no…feasting!) from 8 pm to 1 am.
