Well I'm new on here I just found this app still trying to figure it out. I have surgery this Tuesday the 23rd I'm excited yet getting nervous.

I am 54 years old, and have fought the battle of the bulge for all my life. I remember when I wad younger I couldn't find clothes to fit me right so I would buy my jeans in the boys section. I started Weight Watchers at the young age of 16! I married at the age of 19' we had our first daughter after I graduated from Nursing School. I weighed 132 at the beginning of my pregnancy. Never could get back down to my ore pregnant weight again! By the time I realized it, I was pregnant with our second child. They are 13 months apart. I loved being a mother, worked part time. Life was good. Always joining rejoining WW, or trying every new fad diet available. We have anot…

I found a website for a company called Cappella Flavor Drops. They make 50 flavors of unsweetened drops that you can add to Water or your shakes. These are the flavors I bought, but they have so many others: Cola, Cherry Cola, Peach, Pina Colada, Concord Grape, Boston Cream Pie, Apricot, Orange Creamsicle, and Cherry. I paid $32.90 plus postage for seven flavors. I am hoping the cola flavors will help with the absence of soda pop. I was thinking with the plain cola flavor I could add a slice of lime for that Lime Coke flavored. When they come, I will let everyone know if it was worth the money. If you want to check them out, they are at capellaflavordrops…

I've struggled with my weight since the 2nd grade. Always been very active, but I had always comforted myself with food. Being totally honest, I'm in my 20s, so a lot of my calories came from alcohol too. I decided to have surgery when it became difficult to bend over and put on my shows because my stomach was in the way. Something small and simple, but it bothered me. In January 2014, at the age of 28, I began the process to get my gastric sleeve surgery. I had to go through several visits with my surgeon's office and three visits at the hospital. Finally, my surgery date arrived on April 8th. I had the gastric sleeve surgery, hiatal hernia repair and my gallbladder …

  5. I just received a phone call from my surgeon's office. The PA told me my insurance approval had been received and they were ready to schedule my surgery date. I WAS SHOCKED!! I didn't even know they had submitted to insurance yet. Ok, a little back story since I haven't posted in a while. I have BCBS NC which prior to July 1, 2014, required a 6 month diet plan. As of 7/1/14, they eliminated that requirement clearing the way for me to have surgery sooner rather than later. The only hiccup, I was a smoker. My surgeon's office required 3 nicotine test to be negative at 30 day intervals. I started Chantix in August and have been nicotine free since 8/12/14. I thought…

Hello everyone! Tomorrow marks my second week post op and all is well! I'm down 14 pounds and still on full liquids. Once I got a week post op in, drinking 64 oz of fluids has not been a problem. I am still struggling with Protein since all of it (except GENEPRO Protein, so glad I found that!) is so horribly sweet, but most days I do hit 60g. I want to be at 90g so that is my goal for today. All the swelling is gone and the gas was gone in about a week. My incisions are healing very well. I've had no problems so far and for that I am thankful! Not being hungry is an amazing and empowering feeling! I feel like I'm in control for the first time in my adult life when it …

Hello Everyone My name is Casey, I have been on my weight loss journey since April 72014. I lost 100 lbs before my surgery. I had my surgery at MedStar Franklin Square Medical Center in Baltimore Md. My surgeon is Dr. Christopher You. I am on day 9 and everything is getting better. I had a couple times where I could not believe I did it and got a little depressed. I sometimes feel like I am never going to be able to eat normal foods again instead of liquids. One of my favorite places to eat is Chipotle, and I like the rice there. Has anyone tried to eat chipotle rice after surgery?

  8. I'm getting so discouraged with trying to plan what I will eat each day or for lunch or dinner! This is causing me to just not eat because it's so time consuming and tedious. I buy Healthy Choice meals which are great but I get tired of picking out the Pasta and rice. I have to admit that I don't like a lot of foods and when I find the recipes online for post-op, most don't catch my fancy. I have to eat in order to keep my metabolism rate up but it's getting harder and harder. When I find something that I do like, I eat it until I can't stand it anymore. I like SIMPLE, easy to prepare meals with simple ingredients. As far as meat, I only like chicken and beef, no por…

Hi I have finished my 5 behavior modification classes, met with nutrition 2 times, physical therapist 2 times, attended a support group and did all my required medical testing. Needed to lose only 11 pounds pre surgery and was there but when I was weighed a my last appointment I was up 4 pounds. This was so disappointing, but I was offer an appointment to come back in 2 weeks. Determined to lose the weight I asked for an appointment in 10 days. I am paying more attention to my diet and have exercised longer. I hope to get an appointment with the surgeon at my next appointment. Wish me luck.

BAND TO RNY 1. I know you have to have 64 fl oz of Water everyday. I drink a lot, but not water, I hate water unless I put some lemon juice in it. So, I drink a whole lotta kool-aid sweetened with Equal, my favorite sweetener. Can that count as water? 2. Also, I'm a Band hopefully to RNY so I know it is virtually impossible to get in 64 fl oz's of liquid in a day, as a Bandster. I've been unfilled for 6 years and drink all I want. As a RNYer, is it hard to get the liquid in? 3. And if it CAN go in, how often do you have to drink? Do you have to sip? That must make it impossible to fit in your day when you can't drink before or after eating.

I want to hear from people who had the band removed and how they cope with gaining weight back despite diets and exercise. I do not have an option for any other bariatric surgeries unfortunately!

Hello everyone, I am thrilled to have come across this support site. I am new to this and have not had the sleeve done yet. Still in the screening process. I am thankful to be starting this journey with my sister. We have both struggled with our weight our whole lives. So of course we talk about it alot. She brought up the gastric sleeve and has spoken to many people about it and they all have no regrets. So we started the process a few weeks ago. We are both very excited and scared at the same time, as we are both tired and scared of living like this. We both go through same things, the weight holding us back from all the things we enjoy in life and just normal activitie…

I am honestly scared to death about the surgery now that its getting closer and closer. and I really dont know if reading all the stuff I have read helps or not . Hi, So I finished my 3 month pre op. The dr office called me today and said that most likely my insurance will not cover the surgery since I had gained 17pds.. I am devastated!! I explained to them that I had been taking Phentermine for over 3 years and as soon as I stopped taking it I have gained like crazy!!! I feel like I have changed my eating habits.. At times I feel like I was starving yet I still gained??? I am frustrated at this point. I was suppose to have surgery next Friday September 26. But the lady at the doctors office said she is most positive that my insurance will deny it. Has anyone had this problem where they gained weight while at pre-op and what di…

Hey there! I'm Drew. My story is just beginning. I was sleeved on 6/25/14. So I'm just shy of 3 months post-op. I'm 27, 6'2" tall and weighed 334 lbs at my pre-op appointment on 6/9/14. Today I weighed 243 lbs, 91 lbs down! My journey thus far has been a blur...a struggle...but most of all...a blessing. I am a work in progress...simply a guy on his journey to be healthy, strong, and nutritionally correct.

I haven't been to a game in years because I'm afraid of the turnstiles at the stadium. I'm new on my WL journey, and just under 290lbs. My parents called today, and they have free tix for tomorrow. My husband keeps saying it's going to be okay. I could use some reassurance. Help me please!

Just had my by-pass surgery this past Tuesday the 16th of September. I know everyone's results will be different as well as their experiences. Myself, I find I cannot sleep comfortably in my bed as yet, so spend my night in my husband's cinema chair. When I lay down it feels like my insides are rolling around loose. Surgery went well, as I am an older woman, I was a little nervous about that. I am proud to announce of the six patients on the floor having by-pass surgery, I was the oldest and first to be discharged. Sorry, had to brag a little. Would love the support of others on this journey, so hope to hear from everyone. Hugs to all

My name is Ken C. during the summer of 2012, I went my doctor's appointment to get a routine physical. I hadn't had a physical in years because I didn't have health insurance and plus I knew my health was horrible. A week before my wedding the doctor weighed me at 525 LBS. I knew I was obese but not in the half ton league! I was devastated. My doctor Carol asked me if I was happy with myself. She pointed out to me that I was becoming someone's husband and someday someone's father. She asked me if I wanted to be around for that. "Of course," I answered back. She told me that for someone my size, it was sort of miraculous that I lead such an active life and somehow avoided …

  33. So this was humiliating, I know I am overweight but I have always been looking out for my mom who had always been overweight and older of course. Back track one year and she had her gastric sleeve surgery, I went with her to Mexicali and she had her sleeve done by Dr. Aceves. I went with her but at the time was not convinced this was something I needed to do. Ha! As she lost weight, got more active and looked and felt much better I started debating more and more about it. Even my husband was on board before I was, a little stubborn I am , I know. A month and a half ago I had surgery with Dr. Wilhelmy in Mexicali too. I had already been there once and kne…

Since surgery I have lost 49 pounds and in total since I started my weight loss journey (June 2013) I have lost 113 pounds, the thing that I have learnt is that I didn't put all the extra weight on in a few weeks so why do we all think we can loose it in a few weeks??? I hear people say that constantly ohh I worked really hard this week but I didn't loose any weight ... Well duh it's because it took 15 years for you to gain that extra 100pounds or what…

No idea. As she loses weight, feels better and gets healthy I start thinking about it, in the meantime I gain 10 more libs of course. Even my husband was on board before I was. I joined this site to get info and ideas to get back the support I miss from San Diego Weight Clinic.
