Hello there guys. Hope all is well. Well most of you know my story. Started my weight loss journey 10.5 months ago. Had surgery 8.5 months ago. Been in maintenance now 2.5 months. My high weight when I met the surgeon was recorded at 322LBS and I have lost weight really well and consistently the whole time, averaging about 20lbs a month ? i got down to 165lbs and have been stable and maintaining that weight for the past 2.5 months, I still check my weight often to make sure I'm not going up and this morning my weight has gone down again.... i don't understand. Like I'm not even trying to lose anymore weight I'm already below goal weight and …

Hello, I’m new here so a little history first; I am currently 33 years old and had my surgery about 11/12 years ago when I was around 21/22 old (@ 23• stone) years when I had my surgery done. I lost a large amount of weight very quickly due to the surgery and was soon at my ‘starting going to the gym weight of 15 stone in around 2 years! That was without even exercising much apart from normal day to day tasks and no change in diet apart from the starting liquid one.,My weight range over the years has varied between 13.5 stone to 15.0 stone due to going to the gym 3/4 times a week for about a year which led to around a stone of muscle. I di…

I have always been hot natured, I thought the weight kept me hotter than the average person. And I live in the south and the summers are pretty brutal. But I am almost a week post op and I am cold all the time. I turned my air temperature up but I have to be mindful of other people in my household. I walk around with a cardigan on even when the temperature is in the high 80s/low 90s. Has anyone else experienced this issue? I start my vitamins tomorrow, maybe that will help.

Post GS I went from 208 to 125lbs. I bounced between 125 to 128 was rarely hungry, could eat pretty much whatever I wanted. Three months ago I was diagnosed with pneumonia and prescribed prednisone and antibiotics. After 2 weeks was hospitalized for iv antibiotics and iv Solu-medrol followed by 3 more weeks of prednisone. I ballooned up to 147lbs and it’s been about 3 weeks since I stopped steroids. I am now hungry almost all of the time! I have cut down my caloric intake to a fraction of what I ate “pre-steroids.” Currently I weigh 139, it’s been a constant struggle, it’s like preGSV Did the steroids permanently screw up my system? Will I get my “system back” as i…

I’m curious if anyone has traveled by train after roux en Y. I may want to take an 8 hour train ride by myself to visit my daughter about 4-6 weeks after surgery. I find the train much more comfortable than driving to see her. I don’t fly at all. Does that sound reasonable? I will ask my doctor of course but curious to know if anyone had this experience. Thanks.

Up until Wednesday morning I was having regular bowel movements. Thursday morning I woke up and had to run to the washroom. It was liquid TMI. I took imodium 4 times on Thursday and messaged my surgeons office. They told me to monitor it and if no blood was present to stick to a bland diet. I slept fine last night but woke up this morning to the same problem and it has continued all day. Five imodiums now and I just had a slice of toast and it instantly went through me. I noticed a rumbling as I was eating. The odor is terrible!!! I messaged my surgeon again now. Not sure what to do. But, I am concerned. Anyone have any similar issues? Hope everyone has a great weekend.

Hey all, Tomorrow is my last day of the post op liquid diet. In my program, that was limited to protein shakes only for meals (no adding fruit, etc.). I can honestly say that I am sick and tired of these protein shakes. On Wednesday, I get to move to pureed foods. Does anyone have any suggestions for something to start with? Right now I'm leaning towards scrambled egg (doubt I can get more than one down), tuna, and the like. Can anyone suggest some interesting foods that worked for them in the beginning of the pureed stage?

I'm 5 days post op...pre op I was taking blood pressure, cholesterol, asthma meds. Upon discharge, the Dr. wrote a new script for my Diovan (blood pressure) excluding the Water pill part of it, and was adamant that I crush it to a powder. Well I'm skipping it today, seems after I take it my eyes blur Sent from my iPhone using VST

My surgery date is end of July. Besides the COVID test, I need to get to my primary doctor before. My appointment is next week and I’m wondering what that appt is for? My only concern is since the pandemic I’m been vaping MJ (it’s legal here in IL). I plan to stop 2 weeks before surgery. Should I be concerned?

hello there just doing my monthly check in for those who are interested. So it's officially 8 months since I had my RNY BYPASS surgery. My journey has been good. Started high weight of 322lbs and I've been in maintenance now 2 months. I sit consistently around 165LBS most days but my lowest recent weight was 163lbs. I have definitely been enjoying alot more variety in my diet since maintenance began and I can tolerate most foods but still use shakes if needed. I am now consuming around 1500kcal most days even a few treats here and there without any side effects or weight gain. I'm feeling amazing and looking good. I'll be 36 …

Hi everyone. I’m 3 weeks post op and currently in the “puréed food” stage of my diet. I’m having a really hard time having one single meal a day. I am tolerating tuna well so I’ll be able to have about 6 bites/3 quarters of one of those starkist packets over 40 minutes with slow chewing and long pauses. But truly no more than that a day. I’m meeting my protein goals with genepro in water and a protein shake daily. But I’m really struggling with food. Is this normal a few weeks out?

Sorry but I needed to share. I'm not sure why but the first time for me I've been feeling really bloated in my belly like never before. Feels tight and uncomfortable. I'm 8 months post RNY. I will admit I've had some sugary things this week but it never bothered me like this before. Feel like I need to go toilet but nothing happening. Might need to get some laxatives tomorrow. Been trying coffee and vitamin C I'm not sure what it is I might have missed a couple days of vitamins but nothing major. For the first time in months I feel like I'm retaining water or something..... my sleeping hasn't been good this week either and if I don'…

Hi, hope everyone is well. sorry if it’s TMI...but I don’t know what Is ok to do besides increasing water. Btw, I always have a water bottle with me and drink often. I’m thinking of taking a stool softener. Any other recommendations? I’m watching my portions and focus on protein and struggle to get in fruits/veggies. I’m just wondering if others go through this. Thanks!

So I was wondering if any of you have been given a range of carbs that is considered healthy or ok for us after bariatric surgery. do you have a max amount per meal or per day? My doctor and nutritionist keep telling me don’t worry about carbs or calories but instead to focus on getting at least 60 grams of protein a day. Of course, they don’t want me eating foods high in carbs like bread, pasta, and those types of things. But I’m just wondering if anyone has ever been given an actual number of what is “normal”. I’m 3 months post op if that makes a difference. thanks in advance!

I started with a gastric sleeve surgery done in July 2019 weighing just shy of 350lbs. I had a lot of issues and tough recovery and it required a revision to a gastric bypass at the end of February 2020. I do not own a scale in my home as I would obsess over the number and with the whole Covid situation I was not going to in person dr appointments but today finally I was able to go and I weighed in at 187lbs!!!! That number seems crazy to me. I was over 200 at the age of 12 and I’m now 46. I want to laugh and cry at the same time. This last year was probably the hardest thing I’ve ever been through and I am not back to being 100% healthy yet but I am so excited …

Approximately 40% of patients struggle with their weight loss rate, or metabolic rate, after bariatric surgery, and at least 30% previously had or develop a low metabolic rate after surgery. Metabolic rate is the speed at which calories are burned. Explains why I easily lost weight before surgery but have only lost 3 pounds since. Also, my age decreases BMR. I am switching to caffienated coffee to help boost my BMR.

Hi everyone! I had my sleeve 6 weeks ago and have lost 17kg... i'm currently in a stall but that's another matter, it'll fix itself i'm sure I was just wondering if anyone here has someone they're close too who has been unsupportive of their WLS? What did you do about it? Have you lost any friends? I have a friend who has had nothing positive to say about the surgery at all, just talks about how i will never be able to eat anything and i'll be vomiting all the time after my 2 teaspoons (which is completely untrue).

Hi everyone, I am so thankful I found this site! Tons of information, but I noticed that the balloon forum posts aren't recent. I am hoping to find some current ballooners in the general threads or maybe I can get pointed in the right direction. I am 2.5 weeks in and would love to have some people to talk to about what they are experiencing. No one knows I got the balloon other than my Husband and though he is extremely supportive, I am sure he is tired of hearing me complain and question what I am going through. I am losing weight, my body shape is changing.... all great things. BUT I have ZERO energy. I have to sit in the shower. I puke when I brush m…

Has anyone every heard of this? There is a book, and workbook to use after surgery to learn "mindful eating." It looks interesting and I was wondering if anyone had ever, or is, using it. It looks interesting, but just wondering if it is worth the $40USD! Everything in it can probably be found on the internet, but I don't think I am going to have the time or energy for that, right after surgery.

Hi! So I have a dinner planned for tomorrow and I’m sweating bullets about how to manage it. My husband and his new work friends and their wives will be meeting up— a small group of three couples including us. I’m trying to be very discrete about my operation and would not want to disclose it to them. I’m in the puréed stage of the diet. I’m truly not tolerating much at all. What would you recommend I have them opt for? One option is Italian with soups like tomato bisque, mushroom soup. Other is a Thai place with hot pot style soups. And another is a ramen place. What would you opt for?

Hi all. I underwent a gastric sleeve on June 11, 2020. Roughly two weeks post-op and I suffer from nausea. I was prescribed ondansetron hcl and metoclopramide. The nausea is managed but not abated. I welcome any insight or thoughts, including whether I should request other medication or try a natural remedy. Best, Erica.

Starting last night, I had some minor oozing oozing from my main incision. As it was mostly clear (tinged red), didn't smell like puss, and I didn't have any other signs of infection, I figured it was normal. Starting this morning, what looked like old blood starting steadily oozing out. Long story short, the Dr met me at the hospital, and it turned out to be a hematoma (blood pooling between the layers of the incision). He cut one of the stitches, drained and irrigated it, and packed it with gauze. Hopes this helps someone out. It seems while this is not too common, it's not unheard of.

Y’all I finally got there this morning!!! Exactly 199.0 pounds. I have not been here in over 10 pounds! I’m so happy, excited, and looking forward to the rest of the way. However, I wonder if I’m the only one who also kind of gets this feeling of horror. Like I’ve already lost 77.6 pounds since surgery 4 months ago and I feel like that’s a lot of weight but I’m just getting to onederland????! I weighed a lot! Of course I knew that but it just kind of confirms it I guess in my mind. I don’t know how to explain it. People will ask me how much weight I’ve lost and when I tell them they’re like omg that’s a lot!!! And then I’m thinking but I still have a long way to go!! …

So I think that I’m struggling with head games. I’m post VSG by a year and half. I feel like I’ve done phenomenal but when I saw my doc today she told me she didn’t want me to lose anymore weight. The entire time I haven’t had bread, pasta, and rice. At first it was because of the diet recommendations my team suggested. I know that now I can have them in moderation but I still haven’t chosen to do so. I have made the choice not to add to my diet because I currently don’t miss them but I feel like once I start I will crave them and eat too much of it. I’m not sure how to get around my all or nothing mind set. Any recommendations on how to be ok with moderation?? Thanks in …

How do you deal with those close around you still eating the way you used to? My husband was frying up some meatballs and I was in tears contemplating actually trying to eat one (and I am just 3 days post-op). I ended up freaking out on him for even making them - brought up the 10 hotdogs he ate next to me the past two days and 4 sandwiches he had as a snack while we were in bed last night.. I mean, I am just so upset with him. I wanted him to be supportive and he just thought that meant he should run for me.. How do you deal?

I went for VSG surgery two days ago and this gas is unrelenting. I’ve been walking every 1-2 hours & taking chewable Gas-X every 4-6 hrs or so, but it is still so awful. I’ve been staying on top of getting fluids down, but it’s so hard, because each sip feels as if it shifts the gas pain. How long was it a problem for you, and what did you do to get rid of it?

Hi all - I had my sleeve done on Thursday afternoon and came home yesterday (fri). I had expected a huge problem from the gas used in surgery as I had a hysterectomy (close to that same procedure for both) and that is what I got, a huge problem. I hardly noticed any pain in my abdomen from the surgery because of the severity of the gas-related pain in my shoulder and back. But feel like the Charco tabs worked far better than gas-x (and my husband lightly whacking my back with cupped hands (what they do for CF but not that hard). This morning most of that is better. 1. I know most all the basics, but some of the details on shaky as I put it all in play! For ex…

Hi...I had gastric sleeve surgery on June 14th and I’ve done really good but I woke up yesterday with right side pain. I thought at 1st it was the way I slept but it has continued to bother me yesterday and today. I’ve taken gas-x and walked thinking it was trapped gas but I’m just not sure. The pain feels like a cramp in my side after you would run or walk along way. It close to one of my incision so I’m thinking it’s normal. Have any of y’all had this type of pain before??

Hello everyone Just felt like checking in if anybody is curious how I'm traveling.. My lowest weight was 164.8 in the last two months yet some how this morning I've got to 163.8 and I'm literally not even trying to lose weight I don't log everything I EAT LIKE I used to and I feel I'm eating real food now and between 1500-2000kcal most days like I've totally changed the way I ate for the first 6 months but still cannot gain weight. I'm still considered healthy with 22 BMI Still use shakes most days just to keep hi…

I am 3 weeks postop VSG. I lost 40 pounds before surgery and about 6 pounds first week after surgery. So frustrated that I weight just goes up and and down by about a pound but not lost anything in last two weeks. I am religiously logging all food and water. I am supposed to be on pureed food but have gone back to just three protein shakes a day (150 cal each) and nothing else but water. I am walking my dog 30 minutes every day which I couldn't do before due to low back pain. With increased activity and low intake of calories why am I not losing any weight? Mystery to me. There is no food in house except protein shakes so I am obviously not cheating. I heard of "three …
