I was recently sleeved on July 30th, 2020 (1 week post-op). This was my first surgery in my life. The main issue I'm experiencing right now is anytime I ingest anything (full liquid diet) it is super uncomfortable enter my sleeve. It makes it difficult to get my required fluids in everyday because that feeling is so uncomfortable. Please tell me if anyone has experienced this. I'm freaking myself out because I don't want to be sick or become malnourished or something. And it absolutely does not matter what temperature it is. I usually always do warm or room temp and it's the same feeling. I'm just scared and feeling like maybe I messed up getting this surgery.

What seasonings can you not live without post surgery? Give me a few ideas of seasonings I need to stock up on before I have surgery here in a few weeks. Those things that you use on everything that you cook that makes food taste amazing?

I noticed today my tongue felt thick on top and looked in mirror. It was white with brown or greenish looking coat on the top. The edges of my tongue isn't smooth and my tongue is a pale pink. I'm thinking I will need to drink more fluids and maybe have thrush or yeast or something. Most of color comes off when scraping and rinsing with Listerine, but its still there. No pain or swelling. Has this happened to anyone else? I probably call doctor tomorrow.

Prior to surgery, my Omron blood pressure readings were consistently in the "Hypertension Stage 2" category. Yesterday, my BP was down to "Elevated" and today it says "Normal." Is that for real? How can I see such a drastic change when I haven't lost weight yet? SG2020 HW 294 SW 270 CW 270

Hi everyone! I’m 6 days post op and so far so good. I am concerned at the level of bruising I’m getting on my stomach though. My entire lower stomach below the belly button is dark purple. The drs. Have me doing blood thinner shots in the same area and I’m running out of places to stick myself. Is this normal? Or should I be making a call?

Hey so I was sleeved 6/29/20. I've done a lot of research so I see the 3 week stall is a thing. My question is how long does it last?? I've been at a stall gaining and losing the same 3lbs for about a week and a half now. It's just insanely frustrating. I feel I shouldve lost more by now. I'm not over eating. I roughly eat 1/4 - 1/2 cup at a time and only 3 times a day and 1 or 2 shakes a day if I can get them in and of course as much water as I can. I walk every day and starting Monday I can start basic strength training again (minus core for now). Help!? What am I doing wrong?? Hw:290 Sw:266 Cw:257

I have been planning gastric sleeve for a few years. I took nutrition classes and did a lot of reading, but due to Covid it has been put on hold since April. Then pretty suddenly the doctor’s office called and scheduled it one week out. I jumped on it, but now I feel unprepared. Like I cheated somehow. there are no in person support groups right now. I know to during at least 70 ounces of protein a day from my shakes and water with a tiny bit of juice in it. I feel OK, like others said, It was nice with the pain pump, but the pills have been OK. I have this strange feeling like I should be working out a lot, or hating the food I eat. I feel like I shoul…

The morning I went into surgery, I weighed 216. When I went to the doctor three days later, I weight 216.3. I have literally been only drinking water and protein. I don't see how this is possible, other than water weight. Has this happened to anyone else and they started showing sliding numbers later?

Hi all, I've been up all night so bear with me. My couple of days in the hospital went great, my surgery went great. But my first night home, I've been dealing with just a ton of pain. Today was the first day I've been able to rid myself of any "surgery gas". When it starts coming down and traveling through my intestines...I seriously start crying the pain is so bad. The pain was so bad that I Was sweating and having tachycardia. I called my surgeon and they suggested that, while some of this is normal, I go to the ER just to make sure. So I did-everything looks fairy normal except theres still gas to pass.I also got an enema to move things along. …

y Guys! Im 2 weeks post op and finally in my soft foods phase (YAY!) but I can barely eat 1 oz before I feel sorta wiped out. Also everything I eat or drink gives me gas. I'm only eating what is on the list - tuna, yogurt, applesauce, premier protein drinks, water. Just looking for some suggestions and advice on how you guys navigated this phase. I really want to just EAT! Lol! I literally cant eat till satisfied and it's getting a tad bit frustrating. Any encouragement is welcome!

Hi everyone, I am becoming desperare and I have no idea what to do. I had gastric sleeve on 20 Nov 2019. Starting weight was 118 kg now I am 93 kg since 15 April. I am 31 years old. A nutritionist told me I don't eat enough and this might be the issue. Are there any people who went throught this? I don't know what I am doing wrong though I suspect I am undereating because....hunger almost disappeared some 3 months ago. While I feel very good at the current weight yesterday someone told me "oh your surgery must not have been successful since you've plateau for so long" and hearing this just hurts. Any tips? Has anyone been in a similar situation? A million t…

Was sleeved on Nov. 18. Here I am, 5 days out and on the left incision, I get a burning sensation every time I move. I've limited my walking because if this. I find myself leaning forward to help relieve that pain which in turn ends up causing my back to hurt. Anyone else had this same feeling?

I'm about two weeks post op and was just wondering if it's normal not to have energy. I have some but not 100%. I don't feel like doing housework, I went to a couple stores and I had to sit a few times. When I get my walking in or force myself to do the chores, oh my, do I break a sweat quick! I'm eating broths and soups right now. I'm drinking every chance I get, take a protein shake in the am, soup for lunch and something blended in the pm. I take my vitamins and 2 pills, too. I guess I can tell my Dr. tomorrow when I see him. I go back to work in 2.5 weeks, so I hope this gets better. When do we feel back to normal energy wise?

Found good app to track exercise. It uses your height and weight to estimate your step length. Then calculates distance, calories burned and time. You can also set it to use GPS to calculate distance if running/jogging. Saves daily total for weekly, monthly report. I walked 1.03 miles in 24 minutes. Downhill starting and uphill back. Burned 122 calories in 2702 steps. Stats: 5'1", age 67, female. Highest weight: 245. BMI 41. Surgery Date: May 28, 2020. Weight at surgery: 211. VSG.

So here's my latest health debacle - a few weeks ago, my legs suddenly became very week, to the point where they often won't hold me up. I fell six times in a week and a half. The sixth time was in the parking garage at work - I scraped my foot badly, and hit my head on the concrete. I'd already seen my surgeon and told him I was having leg weakness and falling, and he just said "Well that shouldn't be happening." Gee, ya think? So after that bad fall, I went to my GP and he sent me to an orthopedist. Ortho said he didn't see any structural problems (other than severe arthritis in both knees, which I've had for years), and referred me to physical therapy. I've been doing …

Been investigating sugar-free candy by type of sweetener. Many are Maltitol, Sucrulose, aspertame, Splenda. Found some Russell Stover candy swetened with Stevia sold at Walmart. chocolate assortment or chocolate mint and caramels. Doesn't give calories, macros or ingredients. Also sold at Kroger in smaller packages. Will check it out on my next grocery run and get photo of back of package.

Has anyone been on Wellbutrin prior to surgery? If so, what did your surgeon have you do after surgery to get your meds? My doctor has switched my Wellbutrin XL with a 2 doses of a 75mg pill. Problem is, when I crush the pills & no matter how I take them I gag & feel like I want to throw up! Then when it goes down I begin to feel nauseous. This makes it sooo hard to make sure I’m getting my meds & I can feel it affecting me. My surgeons office says I have to crush it, but like I said it’s like I can’t stomach it.

Hello! I had gastric bypass on 7/6 and just started my purée phase on 7/22. Things seem to be going pretty well however when I’m eating purée chicken or tuna I get pressure in my chest and upper back and find myself burping a lot. Could this mean I’m eating too fast or taking big bites or is this something like acid reflux?

So I should be pretty pleased, I've gone from 249 on surgery date to 233 since July 16th. But yesterday, I felt like back to square one. My incisions were itching, my left shoulder was aching and my back. It was so bad I got out the heating pad. I really don't feel any different after taking the narcotics, I even added a Tylonel. But anyways, I got through the day. It didn't help that something I ate gave me diarrhea, and today I'm trying to figure out what it was. I had pudding, oikos, and tonkotsu broth. I stayed in my room all day binging tv,, it was pretty depressing. Today, I need to go do something and get out of the house. This covid, isn't helping. Extreme Cabin …

So I was sleeved on the 14th and from the start have had terrible incision pain on my right side. After a couple of days it seemed to have gotten better, but for the last two days I have cried from the pain. Even burning pain in my belly button. The incisions look good and I don't have a fever on anything. Is this normal? Is there anything I can do besides walking and pain meds? Is there a reason some people seem to heal so quickly? Does it depend on your surgeon's instruments? Thank you for your help in advance.

My bypass was Feb. 2019. I had labs done at 4 months and 9 months post (Dec. 2019). My surgeon is pretty lax and just mentioned having labs done annually unless there's an issue that needs closer monitoring. In Dec my Vit B was crazy high but I have read that's normal from the high dose vitamins. He had mentioned doing labs again this summer. I take a Pro Care vitamin daily and now they have less Vit B (still crazy high amount) so I am curious if my numbers are closer to a normal range but I am not having any obvious issues and am religious about taking my vitamin. So my question is do I go ahead and have labs done now since it's only been 7 months from the las…

Today was my surgery. Their scale said I weight in at 249. Bummer. So let me just say, the recovery was the hardest for me. But as the hours went on, it got easier and easier. I walked twice. It was suppose to be overnight, but they only granted elective surgery, due to covid, if it was an outpatient. I still have not vomited, so crossing fingers. I do feel little rising up pains after I drink. I am drinking pretty much every 10 minutes, sips. Broth, Gatorade Zero, Water. My doctor also said he repaired a hernia I had! I can't wait for the results! Do yall weigh yourselves? I think I need a new scale.

Hello. I had my final appointment with my surgeon and we decided on August for gastric bypass. I wanted to run this by the ladies out there. I am extremely wide on the bottom. What happened when you started to lose weight? Did it come off evenly? Did you lose all the weight on the top first? Any suggestions about how to encourage even weight loss? Thanks.

I woke up this morning fine and was able to do my normal get up and walk around routine, I'm 4 days out so far so I took a shower and afterwards I fell asleep which is pretty normal to me but when I woke up and tried to walk on my right leg the back of my knee keeps giving me pain and also my leg keeps giving out. I'm not seeing any swelling or bruising but I've had to resort to using a crutch to walk around now. Going to have to go to the hospital pretty soon. Has anyone else experienced this?

If you were sent home with one, how long did you keep it on for? I haven't taken mine off yet and it's day 4. I'm getting real itchy under there, too. I also have been avoiding the shower, which I plan on taking today. How did you shower? Normal, just ignore the incisions?

I posted a few weeks ago regarding constant diarrhea especially after eating. It start about 4 weeks ago now and its still going. Doctor has ordered stool samples some results have come back and others are still pending. I have noticed I have severe bloating after eating. Friday night I had no issues and went all day Sat fine. Until I went to bed sat evening and woke up looking pregnant. I started running to the washroom until I was completely emptied out. I have been told to test for covid but I feel this is something else. I am worried and just wondering if anyone has had the same issue.

I believe this incision was staples from the inside... Has anyone else had this before? Do you know if the staple dissolves and how long it will take to close? I’m 4 weeks post op. The dry rash is from my wound cleaner that I ended up having a reaction to, so I’m not worried about that. The second picture is days after surgery and I think you can see the staple in there but I’m not sure.

I've had unexplained pain for over 48 hours. I am 5 weeks post Bypass. I am not constipated. I have had a bowel movement every day for the last 5 days (rocks, but I go). I can eat very small amounts of solid food (like 1 oz moist chicken or ground beef) and while it does usually feel stuck up high and makes me uncomfortable for an hour or so, my body processes it. I can also drink water and protein drinks. I do not have a fever. BUT the pain is center upper stomach. It's always there and it ranges from moderate to extreme. It almost feels like a mix of gas and a sore burning muscle. It's constant but hurts more when I move. In a car the bumps in the road incr…

Hi y'all, I'm almost 2 weeks post op from my surgery (7/2/2020) . I'm currently on the full liquid phase and I'm sick of everything being so sweet! Between my protein shakes and jello everything is overwhelmingly sweet. I've been trying some low sodium blended veggie soups and those help a bit. Does any one have recipes or suggestions on how they made it through full liquids with some savory options?? Thanks in advance!

Hello all, this is my first post. I’m having a hard time wanting to drink my protein shakes. I have craaaavings for pasta and pizza. 2 of the worst things for me right now lol! I had the VSG SW: 231 05/27/20 CW: 204.7 06/26/20. I’ve been on pureed diet for about 1 1/2 weeks now. Some days I’ll go just drinking water with my tea packets in it all day and not really feel hungry cause I know I can’t eat certain foods. I’m Italian, giving up pizza and pasta has been my worst nightmare. Anyone have any tips?? Anyone cheated on their diets?? What can I do??

So I have to say thank you to @GreenTealael for this. I had never heard of this bread. I am always lurking on the before and after food photos thread to get ideas and several months ago she posted a wrap or sandwich with this bread. I had never heard of it so I took a screenshot and said one day I’ll try it. So then on Father’s Day, my family decided on pulled pork sandwiches. Of course, I wasn’t going to eat the bread. My mom was making the pork and she is super picky so I knew there would be as close to no fat as possible so I decided I would just eat some of the pork with my sugar free bbq sauce. Then I remembered the lavash bread and decided to see if I could find it.…
