For the first time I experienced vomiting after eating and I could have skipped on the last two bites but I believe my eyes were bigger than my tummy and my head was telling me that I was still hungry although my body was getting ready to tell me that I was not. HOW DO YOU OVERCOME HEAD HUNGER??? Thanks buddies

Hello, So my twin sister and I had our gastric sleeve surgeries on August 10th. Today was our first day being able to eat mushy food. We have noticed that we seem to be getting what seems like hunger pains. We first noticed it when we were on the all liquid diet but I thought it would get better once we started to eat real food. We thought it would be easy to get our protein in once we ate real food but in reality it hasn’t been that easy. Has anyone else experienced this issue and is there anything that anyone suggests to help? Anything is much appreciated at this point. Thank you!!

Before having VSG I loved baking for the holidays. From cookies to artisan breads to homemade jams and bundt cakes. I don't want to bake now because it's just my husband and myself and I can't really enjoy eating what I make (I realize that sounds selfish) but it feels like it would just be a waste. I miss it though and I have ZERO Christmas spirit this year. Do you still bake treats for Christmas? Tell me about it and let me live vicariously through you! ??

Hey guys I'm 10 weeks post op gastric sleeve. I have times where i stand up and get really dizzy and last night was at a friends house and ended up getting really dizzy, then lost my eyesight and ended up fainting in his kitchen. and luckily he caught me before i hit my head. Im wondering if anybody else experienced this. Not gonna lie i kinda ate a little shitty for dinner and had some fries and cheese sauce from chick fil a. So im curious whether or not what I experienced was dumping syndrome. When i woke back up i was a little shaky in the legs for a half hour and just drank a lot of Water and ended up feeling fine within like 45 minutes. Was a scary experience hone…

Why is keto considered a fad diet but the bariatric diet is considered appropriate to follow? For example, my surgeon said to get 60-80g of protein per day, less than 50 carbs per day, and less than 50 fats per day. Keto is high protein, low carb, and higher healthy fats (think mct oil, avocado, not necessarily eggs and bacon). Both are also low/no sugar and require you to eat at a calorie deficit (they just specify how much since calories are not the main concern for either one). Both also require some exercise, based on your ability. The ONLY difference is the fat content. They are virtually the same otherwise, yet one is considered a fad and the other is acceptable. Wh…

I am 7 days post-op, had several problems. My gastric bypass went well, but the found a hiatal hernia and liver problems, on top of that the gas didn't dissipate as normal it went into my face, neck, chest, heart and lung. Ended up with a partially collapsed lung and needed a chest tube. I'm on a ton of meds that have to be crushed and taken every 6 hours. I can't stomach anything but water and I apologize for the gross details but now I'm struggling with horrible diarrhea. I just want to feel better, has anyone run into this problem.

I am 2 weeks post op and I got the ok to eat puréed food. So I made scrambled eggs and I chewed and chewed, I think I ate slow, and my tummy feels weird. Not nauseous or pain, just weird. It happened both times I ate eggs yesterday. It’s hard to explain. I cooked 2oz of scrambled eggs and didn’t even eat them all. I don’t know if the feeling is over eating, or eating too fast, or if it’s just not used to food anymore. Has this happened to anyone else. Am I doing something wrong? I don’t want to stretch my ouch or get sick. Idk I might just be paranoid.

I am 3 weeks post surgery today and officially on the pureed foods. I find moving onto pureed foods extremely difficult and eating this consistency makes me feel sick. I am also convincing myself that I can have solids and when I do I just throw up. I’m not sure what to do or eat and I just really needs some motivation?

I'm curious about everyone's thought process when picking their goal weight (if you have one, that is!) Is it a weight you've been before that you know feels good to you? Did you pick based on your doctor's recommendation or the BMI scale? Did you decide not to have one? I've been gaining weight steadily since puberty and have never had a time in my adult life where I felt like I was a weight that felt good on me, so I'm a little lost in the woods as to what my goal weight is or should be... honestly I picked a number at random and if I get there I'm planning on being open to revision once I see how I look/feel. Which brings up another question - if you had a goal we…

Hey all, surgery was Tuesday, and I'm feeling pretty good all things considered. I did have a question about walking to prevent blood clots. All my paperwork and the RN at discharge said to walk one minute every fifteen minutes. How realistic is that? I'm so paranoid and have been spending an hour pacing around my room, then I'll lay down/recline for a bit, then pace around some more. I finally had time to rewatch the LotR movies, and I spent most of the movies pacing. Last summer after getting my covid shot I was so paranoid about it interacting with my birth control and causing a clot, I actually sent my self to the ER...the doctors didn't find anything and said i…

I got my gastric bypass on September 7th 2022, and I’m not really losing weight yet… Is this normal? You would think the weight would be coming off being that I’m only on a full liquid diet, and following it exactly how they advise. Also has anyone else had an issue with elevated pulse? I had tachycardia before my gastric bypass, but was still cleared for surgery, however at the office last week my pulse was 167 which is way higher than it typically is. Also on lovenox injections. Super dizzy whenever I get up to walk around, has anyone else had this issue? I do have an appointment with my cardiologist on the 26th.

10 day post opt and have to say lots of questions still although I know it's Normal. Def having issues with being able to get all my fluids in because I feel so full and then my stomach hurts .. I know that when I tried the primer protein shakes I got sick immediately and I believe it was the milk .. which I never had a problem with before .. but now slowly introducing like almond milk and taking it slow .. but I'll admit I'm scared of food .

I had my surgery done Set 13th, at the same day and the day after I was not able to drink anything, I vomited and It was the worst thing ever, I thought my stomach would burst. So much pain. But in the 3rd day I was discharged and since that day I’m great. Feel like I’ve been done anything. The diet sucks sometimes because I feel like eating, but I put in my mind that “I DECIDE TO DO IT” Let’s get it DONE!!!!

I’m about 5 weeks out from surgery and food, while easier than the first two weeks, is still hard. It’s stressful because I’m nauseous all the time. Things I love I can’t have, even if they are healthy. I’m really struggling with if it’s going to be like this forever. I can barely eat more than two bites at a time. I just need to know if this gets better cause I’m really struggling. It’s making me irritable and not fun to be around.

I have been snacking alot more lately. It seems like I am much more hungry now. I have been eating faster lately. I noticed I eat slower when I am out with friends. Do you think its possible that my snacking is related to eating too fast?

I'm almost 7 1/2 months post op, and I thought "Oh! Let me see how I do with some plain popcorn. It's ok to have that on my diet" so I got 1 cup (used a measuring cup) of popcorn and sat with the hubby to watch a movie (this was last night). I ate it slowly, 1 piece at a time. Waited until it was a designated snack time. And by the time I was done with it, my stomach HATED me. Omg.... I was so nauseous and ended up with diarrhea and had stomach pain. Today I'm still not feeling great so I've been taking it easy with what I eat and drink. It's trial and error to see what I can eat now and what I can't. And popcorn is definitely on the "can't" list. Edited to ad…

Hey all. I’m 7 days post op from gastric bypass. I don’t know how to change my profile from pre op right now. Things have been going really great actually. I’ve been handling things really well all things considered. Meeting my goals, even lightly walking and exercising every day. My mood was fantastic and I was blessed with very little pain. Before my surgery I went through a lot. I already got postponed several times over the course of 2 years, I started pursuing this in Nov 2019. I finally got scheduled in the middle of March. However I have been dealing with battling legal issues (retaliatory eviction and a civil rights discrimination case), a severely ab…

So what did your Drs advise you do as far as carbs? Mine says that they don't really limit carbs and that they believe that carbs will give you energy and then you will be more active which will then lead to weight loss. They believe that balance is the key. Looking though through threads and youtube, most of the people seem to be on a low carb diet like keto without the added fat. I do want to be successful but if I could be successful and still eat more carbs I think I would be happier. Carbs are the only thing I am craving but I'm only a month out from surgery and carbs to me seem to be a slippery slope and I'm afraid that if I allow myself to eat carbs then I'll s…

I can't believe it. As of today, 7 months and 1 week since my surgery, I have officially lost 100 pounds!!!! I was 388 the day of my surgery. I cried this morning when I weighed myself. My next goal is to hit 270, which is what I weighed when I met my husband. After that, my last goal is to get to 200. Once I do that, I'll have to maintain it for a while and then SKIN SURGERY!!!!! There's no magic cure, no pill or food or drink that just magically makes the weight melt off. This is the result of the sleeve surgery, keto, working out 5-6 days per week (and alternating between cardio and weight training), and staying on track with what, and how much, I eat. No on…

Back in August 2012 I had a RNY surgery. I had done about a year of work to get to that point. A month or so before the surgery I discovered my wife at the time was cheating on me. I confronted her about this and she denied it but after some discussion we agreed to work on the relationship. Fast forward to the day of the surgery. She accompanied me to it that morning, I went back and the procedure was completed. I was taken to my room and was groggy from the anesthesia. She decided at that moment, while I was groggy and not clear headed to tell me she wanted a divorce. Needless to say this was hard. I will be honest and say that I did not handle things well and I sta…

Hi all, my husband had gastric bypass September 14th. So 2 and a half weeks post-op. He is not following the eating guidelines. He did well with the 2 week post op liquid diet. But I woke up this morning to him making 2 pieces of bacon and 2 scrambled eggs. He's completely skipped the puree and soft food stage. We had the post op surgeon appointment and a nutritionist appointment where I feel like they gave him the green light to move to soft foods, but I think he's going way beyond what they intended for him to be eating. I'm at the point where I can't nag him into eating the way he's supposed to be and find myself getting angry that he isn't following 'the rules ' of e…

My surgery date was 9/26 and my surgeon said not to take Vitamins until my post-op visit 3 weeks after surgery (this past Thursday). My surgeon recommended the fusion brand, but I am confused about the different types, some you have to take 4/day, others only once per day and then there are the calcium chews (two hours after iron). Is the Fusion 1x/day pill a complete Vitamin? I purchased the complete vitamin not realizing you need to take it 4x/day but would like to switch to the 1x/day version but just want to make sure it has the correct daily balance of vitamins, since 4x/day is just unreasonable and not workable into a work schedule and taking around Calcium pills w…

My program says to start taking vitamins on day 5 post-op (today for me!) But I'm feeling a little nervous. I have the Bariatric Advantage strawberry watermelon chewy bites and I'm worried I'll end up nauseous after taking one. I'm feeling pretty good today and don't want to anger the new stomach ? I understand everyone has a different plan and timeline but I'm curious when you were allowed to take vitamins? And how did your stomach handle them starting off?

I've always had an issue with an ache around (just below maybe) the sternum area. Usually after being nervous or having an upset stomach, but not something that was there all the time. Since lap band placement 3/22/10 it is always there. As I eat or drink it gets worse. It's barely there in the morning and by the evening I feel like I have been kicked. It is a constant ache. I did have a hernia repair at surgery time and I go for my 1st fill this Friday. Has anyone else had this? Because of it, I'm barely eating or drinking, yet I am not losing weight. I've read in other threads not losing weight may be from not eating enough protein. I can't eat more because that worsens…

I read that one can experience gallbladder problems not with pain in the right upper abdomen but in the back between their shoulders. Anybody experience this? If so, how did it feel? Like a muscle pull or dull or stabbing pain or ? The other night I pulled my upper back muscle, a lot of pain between my shoulders, feel nauseated, clammy due to the pain but after I stretched a bit and took Tylenol, I felt better. I googled pain between my shoulders in the back and they mentioned gallbladder problems. I am almost positive it was a temporary muscle pull but I've always been paranoid of gallbladder problems so here I am. Thanks in advance!

Hello ? I am 7 weeks PO and my right side discomfort is still there. It started small and the discomfort increased. I don’t call it pain since it only happened when I get up from sitting or when I am sleeping and move side to side. I had a CT scan of my stomach and they said no leak when I went to the ER for dehydration. I called my surgery nurse and she said the pain is normal when I was 3 weeks out. Does anyone still have discomfort on their right side this far out?

I am onnnnly 3 weeks post of and let me say this first: I AM IN NOOOOO WAY TRYING TO EAT STEAK ANNNNNYTIME SOON!! I have just seen varying "timeframes" on when you can eat/try it again..... I know that red meat stays in your stomach ( regular stomachs) for days..... But,i was just wondering what others doctors recommend? I've seen some say their doc said 3 months.... while mine said 6 months..... And if some can "try it" after 3 months ( and we both have the sleeve...), would it be bad if I did? Seems like docs just have "personal preferences".... Thoughts?

Okay, I have tried ALMOST all the Protein powders out there, but I have never tried the Syntrax nectar. Right now I am drinking only Premier Protein pre-made shakes with 30 grams in each. I am doing that because I have not found ANY powder that I really like yet and I am able to tolerate these Premier shakes even though I don't love them. I have heard so many rave reviews about the Syntrax Nectar I thought I would give it a whirl. I am thinking about ordering a sample package from My Bariatric Pantry online. I am thinking of the following flavors just because I have heard people say they like them: chocolate Truffle, Fuzzy Navel, vanilla Bean Torte, Cappuccino Latte. P…

greetings, currently transitioning from full liquids to purées (woo hoo) and I am starting to track again (instead of just ounces of liquid). My diet guidelines tell me what and general amounts for purée and beyond but no specifics for macros like calories, carbs and the like (there is a protein macro of 60-70 g) those of you tracking, what did you do for purée, soft and beyond ?

Post - 4 weeks today. Able to eat just about anything, I haven't had any issues holding down any food. Except Orange Juice, but stomach instantly said NO. However I think I"m "overeating" meaning that I get to the point where my stomach is hurting before I stop eating. Am I doing too much? I guess I don't know how to "stop" eating before I get to the point where I'm like UGHGHGH my stomachhhhhh.. for the next 20 minutes. Any suggestions are welcome!

Hello, I am two years post-sleeve surgery, down about 80 pounds and happy. Unfortunately, I have developed pretty severe iron deficiency anemia which was discovered because I developed horrible restless legs syndrome. I'm taking 60 mg of Iron in my bariatric vitamin without much success. My doctor has recommended IV iron infusion. I was just curious if other sleevers have had this problem, as I thought it was more associated with bypass. Also, if you have experience, can you share how you felt during/after infusions? I have an anxiety disorder and worry about everything, so I'd love some real life tales. Thank you, Rebecca

Man, I haven't been able to do any kind of working out for the last 5 days because my whole house is SICK. We're all covid negative, but we have a nasty flu and stomach bug and OMG I'm over it. Been resting a lot, taking echinacea, extra vit C, protein shakes with extra protein and greens (stomach bug keeping me from eating too many foods), lots of tea (green tea, white tea, oolong tea), and OTC cough and congestion meds. UGH. Not even remotely feeling Christmasy, just wanna get better. Praying this doesn't turn into pneumonia again (I've had it 5x, and I have lung damage because of it).

I'm eating at night again. My fat brain is winning. I feel so disgusted with myself at this moment and feel I'm slipping. I am 8 weeks post op and should be transitioning to more solid foods but I'm mostly still pureeing . This way I can have more volume of foods. I need to contact my surgery team and see if they can help. I just feel defeated at this moment.
