So about a week ago i uploaded a post about how nauseous i felt and was unable to drink water and had on going nausea. 2 days ago i rushed to the emergency room. I had just seen my surgeon this day and was feeling great. before this i was in bed for weeks feeling the obvious very unwell. I was slowly starting to recover and i felt good enough to go to his office which is about an hour away from where i live. I went to my appointment all was well and he said i was doing great. That same day i went to visit my cousins and i was driving i felt a little discomfort on the sides of my stomach but that feeling went away. When i got home i felt an instant stabbing sensati…

So after my surgery to remove the last of the polyps on the 14th, my GI surgeon said he's clearing me foe revision surgery, but said he doesn't really want me to have the surgery. I asked why and he said "At first, I was sure you had the polyps because of the PPI, but now I don't think that's the case" so I said "Ok, so what's causing them?" and he said "I really don't know. I think maybe you might just be someone who makes polyps" and I said "I don't see how that's the case. I've never had any before, and I didn't have any when I had the sleeve surgery. I didn't start getting them until the GERD, gastritis, and esophagitis started and I had to go on the really high PPI f…

So I got my VSG on 3/28. My birthday is 5/7 and my friend wants to take me to an amusement park (I LOVE roller coasters) but that is about 3-2 days short of me being 6 weeks post op. It is a long way to go if I won't be able to ride any rides. I REALLY want to go and will obviously listen to my body but is it a bad idea to try to go? If I start with milder rides and make sure I snack and stay hydrated do you all think I could/should go?

My bypass surgery was 2/14 and I thought my hunger was supposed to supress after surgery but I am always hungry. And before you say it not head hungry. I know what that is like. I am talking real hunger. The kind where I just want food... any food. Unfortunately when it comes to meals I still can only take about 4 bites before I am full... momentarily. Then an hour or so later I am back to being hungry. What gives?

Anyone else waking up feeling Nauseous, drinking water and feeling nauseous and too nauseous to even eat. As i wake up my mouth is white and so dry it’s hard to even move them as they are stuck together with barely an saliva. It’s also extremely hard for me to keep down any of my vitamins as they all make me extremely nauseous. Not to mention the constipation. i’ve been constipated since 15 days ago of my surgery and haven’t had a bm since. i’m not straining nor feel the need to go. I just haven’t been able to do a bm which has made my stomach pretty unhappy and feel sore.

Hi all, i am currently 15 days post op and am transitioning into my puréed stage of food. Any tips for puréed stage and being at work? i go back to work on the 25th and i work in Daycare/Childcare so a very attentive job. My surgeon has advised i need to wait 30 minutes to drink water and wait 10 minutes if i’ve had water to eat before hand. As i work this job it’s sort of hard. Any tips on what foods you guys ate im really struggling on this. I made a mushroom soup and puréed it and had a teaspoon of it and (TMI!!) regurgitated as the texture was awful. Please help me ??

My wisdom teeth decided to come in finally, and my gums are so swollen I can't close my mouth. Its painful to talk, chew, and swallow due to how swollen it is. I was seen at our rural dentist, and she said I need to have it removed but she couldn't do it there. I have to wait a month or more for my referral for oral surgery 250 miles away can go through. She gave me antibiotics, I'm on day two of taking them, but thats it. I'd been managing the pain since yesterday with tylenol and warm saline rinses, but it doesn't seem to be helping and the swelling is pretty bad. I contacted my team to see what else I could possibly take, but they haven't responded yet. Doe…

Hi everyone, I got my surgery on Friday. I had laparoscopic RNY. I have been so full of painful gas. My stomach looked pregnant in the hospital and has gone down since, but it’s still swollen. I am passing gas and burping regularly, but it is still painful, I get burps stuck like in the center of my chest and then have to force them up. I’m sipping water slowly throughout the day but it sometimes feels like it gets caught in my esophagus/upper chest. Is this all normal? How long before I can feel normal?

Hello, I was wondering if anyone has/had experienced and elevated heart rate after surgery. I'm 15 days post op and my HR before surgery was ~65 bpm. It's currently sitting at 80-90 with spikes up to 114-120 after even just a little energy expenditure. I'm drinking about 70 oz water/day. I contacted my surgeon's office and they said to schedule an appointment with my regular doc which I did. I have an appointment tomorrow morning. Just looking to see if anyone else on here experienced this and if so, did it go away on it's own, or did it need treatment?

Anyway, the point is, it's surgery day and I'm trying not to get sick at the last minute and HERE WE ARE with the temperature at a high of 46 when we've been in the low to mid 80s the last 4 days!!!!! Colorado sucks. Went to the ER Wednesday night for insane abdominal pain and vomiting. 5 hours, lots of blood work, and a CT scan later, and there's no appendicitis, no intestinal blockage, no bowel blocks, and no sleeve leaks or rupture. What I DO have is a very large uterine fibroid that the doctor thinks might be causing the pain. Incidentally, I also saw from my blood work is my liver is enlarged and my kidneys and pancreas don't look to be functioning complet…

Hi all. I was scheduled to have surgery last month but due to extenuating circumstances had to reschedule my surgery the evening before it was scheduled. I am now due to have surgery at the end of this week but am very concerned about one thing I’ve been reading on other forums:orthostatic hypotension. People reporting light headedness, fainting spells and extremely low bp when getting up from a seated or laying down position. is this common??? How many people here have had this? I watched my dad suffer from that for years (part of another neurological condition he had) and it was the most traumatic thing and I don’t want that for myself. In his case I think i…

Hi all. I’m 1 week out from having gastric sleeve surgery. The procedure went well, but I had a good amount of pain for the first few days (where I couldn’t really consume anything other than water, Gatorade Zero and broth). Since about day 4, I’ve been trying to consume somewhere close to my protein goals (60 grams). I just can’t get there, or really be anywhere close. I’ve never loved protein shakes, and can only have 2 ounces at a time. I’m lucky if I consume 1 shake/day. I add in chicken bone broth, and a little bit of nonfat yogurt/cottage cheese (which my surgeon allows), but I just can’t seem to consume more than 250 calories/day (at best 40-50 grams of prot…

HI! I am 2 months post-op 40lbs down. In 2 weeks I gained 3 lbs. My cravings are back from before surgery. Its so hard to meal prep as well since my family are also big and cook unhealthy meals. I eat small portions but its been a lot of carbs. Any recommendation? What should I be eating at 2 months? My father tells me I shouldn't be eating at all but my nutritionist says otherwise. Its kind of the reason i'm back to my cravings. Father problems. I want to do better for myself. Any food recommendation for the soft stage? Thank you for any help.

I have had a wonderful first two weeks postop experience. But the last few days I’ve been getting horrible pains and finally broke down and went to urgent care. I thought I had a kidney stone. Turns it is pancreatitis. Does anyone know if that is a common side effect post op? If so, do you know when I might stop being a problem? The pain had inched up close to kidney stone level, but now I am on some narcotics to keep the pain down

I am 4 weeks and 3 days post surgery - nothing tastes good, following my plan and trying new things to see if finally something will taste good - I've tried meatballs, chicken, turkey, eggs, ricotta bake, LOTS OF THINGS and they all taste horrible - getting frustrated and only applesauce and mashed potatoes taste good enough to be able to eat - I keep reading that this will get better, but I cannot live on these 2 things alone, cannot be good for me! Waiting for April 21st for "regular stage" but don't have much hope that things will taste good then either Have had a couple break downs and cried, but trying to keep my hopes up!

Hi everyone I had my sleeve last week on Thu 3rd nov and everything has been great with no complications and no side effects until 1 week post op I developed a red itchy rash on my stomach area only no where else on my body. I put the itching down to incision healing but it has gotten worse over night by already across my entire stomach and has kept me up itching like hell!! I have contacted my doctor for advice but wondered if anyone else has experienced this? I still have my sutures and bandages on, they come off on day 10.

Hello all, I went in Monday for my Sadi and while my surgeon was in there he said I had too much scar tissue from past c sections and it would be unsafe to do the Sadi and just gave me a sleeve. He said once I lose 100-150 lbs I can go bad and have the second portion done. I’m feeling kind of discouraged. My highest weight was 490, I got down to 461 pre op, and I’m just worried I’m not going to lose enough weight on the sleeve as I would have with our original plan. Anyone else start out at a higher weight and have success with VSG? How much were you able to get off your first year? I’m just trying to figure out what to expect.

I am almost 5 weeks post-op, and am frustrated. I joined another site to help me track my foods, and yesterday I consumed less than 300 calories for a whole day and was nowhere near my protein goals. Last week I was able to make some egg whites and I had a 1,000 calorie day and felt like that was too much. My dietician told me to aim for 700 per day, with a minimum of 80g of protein. I feel like there's no consistency. Yall, I am really struggling. Do I need to go back to my liquid diet where I was getting all my protein? I've been at a stall for almost 2 weeks and don't see my dietician again until mid-April.

I had done the stress test to get cleared to have gastric sleeve but I was wondering if anyone also had to do a stress test 1 year post op. Just got a call to schedule one but I never heard my doc say I’d needed to do it. I still have follow up visits and bloodwork etc. Just wasn’t sure if the stress test was required or an optional thing. Surgery went great. Was done Feb 17th 2022 and I’ve lost 222 pounds to date.

I'm 3 days out of surgery and on protein liquids. I can't figure out how fast or slow to be eating in order to satisfy my hunger and make sure I don't stretch out my new pouch. I ate a 1/4 cup of pudding in about 10 minutes and am feeling guilty that it was too fast. My stomach gurgled and I felt it stretch. Am I damaging the pouch? How do you all eat slowly and satisfy the hunger?

I know the title may sound odd....but hear me out. I'm 5 weeks post op, so just over a month. I don't feel "restriction" as much or as painful as i did initially. I still feel it but i feel like it's not as significant of a feeling as before. Also i feel like I can eat more than i should already without pain. I had a piece of cake the other day at a birthday and felt fine, no dumping syndrome or any issues. That was really surprising to me. Also, I don't have changed taste buds like everyone else seems to (so far). Everything still tastes the same to me! The only thing is i prefer very cold water now and before i was fine with room temperature water. Another thing about w…

Things have been super annoying lately. I had surgeries for all the polyps in my stomach in Jan, Feb, and March. Thought I was done, then the doctor looked down through my duodenum and found nodules all through it, so now I have a surgery on the 14th of this month to remove them. Hopefully he can get them all, if not, then I'll have 1 last one in May. THEN I will be cleared for revision surgery in either June or July. On the plus side, my A1c is now 5.3, which takes me out of even being pre-diabetes and is now officially normal. My blood pressure stays around 110/70ish. I'm in size 18 clothes now (from size 28), size 7 ring (from size 10), have a lot of annoying loo…

I had surgery on 6/5/13. The first 10 days or so I didn't feel hungry at all so eating and drinking was quite a task. Since then I've developed the sensation of hunger but not fullness. I'm afraid of possibly overeating so I eat out of an under filled 1/2 cup container or a small bread plate. My dietitian said to try eating a little more to see if I begin to feel full. I tried but I am afraid or stretching my stomach or making myself sick. Has anyone else experienced this? Any suggestions?

Hi Everyone, I hope you are all well. I'm just over 4 weeks out from having my gastric bypass and I really don't feel well at all! I'm dealing with constant nausea and sickness to the point I'm struggling to take my medication. I am only getting in about 500ml of liquid a day and I sometimes am able to eat a couple of teaspoons of soup or yoghurt. I was just wondering if anyone else went through this and if they had any advice? Does it get better? I'm feeling so lightheaded at the moment too. I have spoken to my medical team and they are helping but I just wanted to hear from people who have actually gone through gastric surgery? I'm just miserabl…

Hey y’all, I am wondering if anyone out there has had liver damage related to the surgery. My liver function tests have been elevated since surgery in February and I was finally referred to GI. My GI doc did some more tests and found that I have liver damage (there’s a blood test that looks for this called the GGT or Gamma Glutamyltransfer Ase). My GGT is 537, normal is under 38. They want to do a liver biopsy next. Any thoughts or advice on how to not freak out about this?

Hi everyone! I’m having trouble keeping down my calcium citrate chewable, every time I take one I am immediately hit with nausea. Does anyone have any suggestions for getting that down? My nurse had mentioned powders, pills, etc. What works for other people? Also, I am running out of my multi vitamin chewable. I was taking the lemon flavor which was okay. Does anyone have any flavor or flavors they particularly enjoy from the brand Bariatric advantage? Thank you!!

On the 3rd of April i was scheduled for my gastric sleeve. That went great. i woke up with tons of pain all in my shoulder and belly. I had a extremely hard time drinking water but day 4 and it’s been much easier for me to get down the clear liquid broth that my mum made for me. It was really hard for me the first couple of days as i felt extremely nauseous and suffer with ‘Emetophobia’ so as you can imagine this has been a very hard experience none the less. I was in hospital for 2 days and was sipping on my fluids enough to be sent home which was great as the hospital was very great, welcoming and attentive i just became really home sick the third morning i was there s…

Hi, I'm new to this forum. I am one week out from gastric sleeve surgery. During the first 4 days, I had terrible shoulder pain. My surgeon said it happens to some patients and is due to air left in the stomach after surgery. Currently, the pain comes back periodically. I have a fear of intaking too many ounces per hour. At my post-op discharge, I was told to try to get 4 ounces in per hour. On day 5 I was able to finish 4 oz in 30-45 minutes. My fear is that I will jeopardize the integrity of the stomach sutures. Has anybody else experienced these issues?

After my sleeve surgery on 3/13, the biggest issue was dealing with severe pain on my right side about six inches under my right breast just above one incision by about three inches. I rested with a heating pad for several days in a row and was able to get through it. Doc said it could be the abdominal wall healing through a small bleed. Haven’t had any issues in over a week, but last night as I reached up into my pantry I felt a sharp pain in the same spot. I tried to breathe in, but that made it hurt worse. Now it’s tender to the touch... I can sit and stand without pain, but if I try to stand upright AND breath in deeply I will feel a sharp burning pain (like stabbing)…
