I am officially one week post-op. I love beef Jerky and of course know it's way to early to start eating it. But the thought crossed my mind to chew on it for the flavor and spit out the solids. Any comments from anyone who may have tried this and what your results were. Thanks in advance.

Hello all, I had GS in Aug. 2020. I lost just over 100lbs, but never made it to my goal weight of 125lb. I got down to 138lb, which actually almost seemed a little too thin, and people thought I was starting to look sickly. That was at the end of October 2022. Since about December, I have gained 20lb, and I have NO idea why. It's so incredibly disheartening. I'm 50 years old, so I think menopause could be a real issue, as nothing else has changed with my eating/drinking/exercise habits in that time. I don't know if I should reach out to my surgeon, my OBGYN or my regular PCP. I'm also under an INSANE amount of stress, so I'm guessing cortisol is a contributing factor…

I have a question for all you post-op people! I love, love, LOVE roller coasters! I'm wondering if after surgery I'll have nausea on the rides that "tickle" my tummy, or what it's going to feel like when you go down the steepest drop that usually makes my stomach "drop"? There is nothing better than throwing your arms up and letting gravity pull your butt off the seat on the big drops! I'd be so sad if rides felt different! Have any of you post-op people been on roller coasters since your surgery?

I am OFFICIALLY in a size 7 ring!!! And my size 18/20 clothes are beginning to get a little loose. Holy crap!!!! I'm having my 1st procedure to remove (hopefully) half of my pre-cancerous polyps in my stomach on Friday the 17th. The 2nd (and hopefully last) one will be on March 10th. I'm thinking my revision (going from my gastric sleeve to a gastric bypass out of necessity, because of what the sleeve is doing to my stomach and my esophagus) will be in May or June. I can't wait to get through that and just get back to living my life. So tired of all these medical issues. I just want to go back to working out the way I used to and FEEL BETTER. So tired of th…

I am scheduled for a gastric sleeve in 3 days. I have the luxury of working from home, but was planning to take a week off after my procedure, and work from home for a week before attempting to go back into the office. I have a sedentary job, but a really nice walking path available to me at the office (along with my walking pals who I can meet up with on my breaks and lunch). I have heard a myriad of responses to this among my friends who have had this procedure, but was hoping that medicine has evolved since then, and I'm curious. For anyone who has had their surgery in the last two years - How long after surgery were you able to return to work?

I had surgery Monday (2/13) and was doing well and got discharged on Tuesday. The pain had been tolerable, so they only prescribed me some light pain relievers. I'm just curious how long the pain/soreness lasts? I can handle it but it definitely puts a damper on things. I'm home from work for the week, and I can take another week off if needed. My biggest thing, as silly as it is, is that I'm a side and stomach sleeper and I can't do that right now lol How long did the soreness last everyone else?

Hi everyone, I had my gastric sleeve on 2/9 and have not really been doing to well and was hoping to get some feedback. I ended up back in the er yesterday after having terrible chest pain after attempting to swallow my omeprazole. It got stuck twice ?♀️ ct scan showed a hiatal hernia that is inflamed from surgery and I was severely dehydrated. I now have to crush all my meds given fluids but I started having terrible liquid diarrhea on day 3 post op. I will literally have some water and immediately have liquid green uncontrollable diarrhea. I told the doctors about it but they were not concerned. I feel dizzy and weak struggling on liquid intake. Does this diarrhea end…

History: I had a revision surgery from sleeve to gastric bypass on 1/31/23. I had all the normal gas pain issues (fun). Then, I had something weird happen - I got a severe, sharp pain directly in the middle of my upper abdomen. Lasted a day, then, when I was walking, I took a gasp breath and it rattled and went away. Doc thinks maybe mucus plug? That was insane and I’m so glad it went away. Current issue: Today, 11 days PO, I developed a severe, sharp pain in my lower left stomach (below/under the big incision - not the same spot). When I try to go to the bathroom (even just trying to urinate), it is killer pain. I can barely walk. The only way I can make it feel any…

I am 1 month post-op today and I’m down about 18 lbs. I healed quickly, I’ve been back on the treadmill since week 2 and am walking 2+ miles a day. I had very little pain post surgery and I have had NO problems with any foods. To the point where I feel like I SHOULD be having more difficulty. I have lost little if any weight since January 25th. A girlfriend thinks I’m consuming too many calories. I am eating between 800-1000 calories a day, but burning between 400-500 on the treadmill daily. I’m tall. 5’8” and my SW was 290. CW is 272. I started the pre-op diet at 303.2. Am I eating too many calories? Should I feel ok that my NET calories daily are closer to 500-600 calor…

Anyone have issues with Premier Protein Shakes? I’m 1 week post-op and starting on Friday last week, I started having issues with them. When drinking them it would make my stomach upset, give me a weird film in my mouth that would leave a weird aftertaste and I couldn’t get rid of. Even brushing my teeth it would stay. Because I couldn’t stomach it, I switched to a plant based powder and use fairlife fat-free and so far I’ve been fine. I have had lactose issues in the past, so wondering if this may be that or if others have experienced something similar.

Hi everyone, I am going on my first trip since having my surgery at the end of November. At this point my meal plan includes most foods, but I’m anticipating having some challenges with meeting my goals and tracking. I’m planning to bring some protein bars to have with me as I don’t think much time will be spent at the hotel - I’ll be sight seeing most of the day. I’m flying so can’t bring any protein shakes with me and won’t have a kitchen to do any cooking. Does anyone have any travel tips?

I know it's really common to be cold after bariatric surgery. I've been cold all the time MY WHOLE LIFE. Now that I'm down over 100lbs it's becoming impossible. Today, I'm wearing a silk long sleeve undershirt, a long sleeve knit shirt, and a fleece, plus dress pants, thick socks, and short boots. I AM SO COLD! It's especially terrible when I have to sit still during work. Has anyone found a good solution?

As many of you know, I never lost my hunger. From day 1 I still had it. And it's made this journey harder than it needed to be. I tried a few different appetite suppressants and they did nothing at all for me. 2 weeks ago, I found one called PhenQ. I read the reviews and the ingredients and really liked how it sounded, so I bought it. I got it a week ago and have been using it everyday, and FINALLY I can say I have absolutely NO hunger!!! I set alarms to remind me to eat, and it's amazing. It speeds up my metabolism, burns fat, and REALLY kills my appetite. I have zero cravings, zero hunger. There's a day and a night version, and I bought both. So here's how it works…

Hi, I was sleeved on January 5th and have not lost any weight! Also, I notice that most people have a hard time drinking their protein drinks. I do not, I can drink an entire one in less than 15 mins taking small sips. The only side effect I have is being dizzy sometimes. Did my surgeon even do anything? First, let me start by saying I now have to have a revision due to sleeve complications (insane gerd causing high doses of PPI which have cased a ton of polyps all through my stomach, which make the gerd worse, which caused gastritis and esophagitis). I love my sleeve and am really sad to need a revision. I have to have half the polyps removed on the 17th, then the other half on March 10th. We're looking at a revision to bypass probably in May, which is ironic because that's my 1 year surgiversary for my sleeve lol My ring size is now a 7 1/2 and my clothing size is an 18/20. My surgeon told me to expect to lose maybe another 60-65 pounds with the bypass (it'll be s…

Does anyone else have health anxiety regarding this surgery? --- I'm so worried about developing stenosis, blood clots, or sudden heart failure! I made the mistake of looking into the death statistics and the most common deaths from gastric and how it mostly happens up to 4 weeks after surgery due to those causes. Age range 32-54 and weight 285-400+ -- Likely overreacting, but it's a huge worry of mine. I'm constantly checking my incisions and moving just to avoid it. I read we're high risk up to 3 months post op. -- I had surgery Feb 2nd 2023 *~☆AnxiousMommy☆~*

But I was wondering if anyone else has broken any bones post op? Tomorrow will be 10 weeks postop for me. And did this have any negative impact on your progress? Thanks

Still managing soreness. Luckily not too much pain. Belly button is tender and abdomen is bloated and stiff to the touch. All this appears normal, I spoke with my nurse. But what are peoples experience getting their liquids down? Today I finished 1 protein shake and probably had 30 oz of hydrating liquids. But when I take my sips it feels like my stomach cramps a little, or there's some tightness in my chest. In guessing this is normal so close to being post op, but it's very annoying and makes me not what to eat lol.

I’m approaching two months post op and I’ve found I’m so tired. Prior to surgery I swam twice a day slept about 6 hours a night. Now I’m sleeping many nights by 8:30 pm. My activity is currently only at one swim a day plus 3 personal training sessions a week. It’s 4:30P right now and I wish I had more energy for a second swim or gym session this evening but I feel like I already am ready to sleep. When will my energy come back?

Hi! I’m a little over a month post op and I’m having a hard time keeping the vitamin C + iron chewable’s down. I got them from Bariatric advantage & every time I take them I feel nauseated immediately. I then feel like I may have to throw up for a long time after. My surgeon had said to take these two hours separately from the multi vitamin chewable and I always do. I know these are crucial to the recovery process so any tips on how to take them would be very appreciated!

Just got the call from my GI specialist. I DO NOT have cancer!!! It seems what I have are 4 different types of polyps, all of which are pre cancerous. Nobody knows how I got them, what caused them, or if they will come back. My gastritis and GERD are apparently caused by my sleeve itself. So the plan moving forward is to have 3-4 more upper GI endoscopies to remove every single polyp (that way they don't become cancer) and then I have to have a revision from sleeve to bypass. But the removal of the polyps is first, then the revision. Don't really want a revision, but at this point, I'll do WHATEVER it takes to get all of this taken care of and finally start to f…

Hello everyone, I’m new here I am really struggling… I had surgery 3/7 of 2022 and started at 250. I am now 123 and seem to lose a pound or two each week which is way below my goal weight that was 150. I have so many issues eating pretty much everything. I can only eat or drink small amounts. I am extremely exhausted. I feel faint a lot. I can’t sleep. I had major issues eating at first, but around August my PCP told me eat what I can and stop trying to force the protein. I then ate - which was mainly fruits and veggies. I started feeling better for about a month and then got Covid. Since I have been struggling again to eat. I feel sick. Nauseous. Over heated each …

Hi everybody! I had my surgery December 14,2022 so I’m a little over a month out. Sometimes I’ll feel like this weird emptiness in my stomach, or something that mimics what it feels like when your hungry (isn’t painful but does cause discomfort). Does anyone know what that is or have they experienced the same? I sometimes get confused as to if my body’s hungry and should eat or if it’s digestion or another issue I should be focusing on.

So I am almost at the end of my 4th month and it seems I am getting full lot faster than before ??♀️ Like the amount, I was able to eat, now I can't as much. Before I was okay eating around 0.75 cup (half of it is usually yogurt) but now I feel stuffed with the same level, so I have reduced the portion size a little to may be 0.5 to 0.6 cup or incorporate less solid and more semi solid like yogurt (which I usually have with every meal for my protein as a vegetarian eater). I don't know if anyone has experienced similar trajectory. Not sure if I should be concerned? Because I am studying, I am not as active. I do make sure to walk about 45 mins to an hour…

First, I do not take ambien or any other controlled sleeping medicine. The only new medicines I have been on since this started is ActiGall and Pepcid AC Is anyone doing strange things in the middle of the night? I will "come to" and be sitting on the edge of my husbands side of the bed. No idea how I manage to do that Just sitting there. I will come into the dining room and be so out of it hubby says go back to bed and I will randomly pick something up off the table that I think needs to go to bed with me books, paper, bowls, silverware.
