I'm 11 days post op and I'm struggling to get more than 250 calories a day of that I'm getting about 15 grams of protein. At 9 days post op, I was allowed to start a full liquid diet and I finally tried today a teaspoon of mushroom bisque, stayed down but now I'm trying to do a shake and my stomach is just gurgling. My nutrition gave me a recipe for protein Popsicles, so making them now. Has anyone had any problems with liquid intake after surgery.

It's all Thanksgiving's fault. I avoided the mashed potatoes, but I had some gravy made from turkey drippings and stuffing, as well as cheesy peas and 2 Hawaiian sweet rolls, besides the turkey. Not all at once, because I can't eat that much at once. But throughout the day, yep. Definitely didn't eat right. So...today I get back to basics and reset my pouch and my mindset. I didn't workout yesterday, so today is strictly back to my diet and my working out. I've been so good at not cheating and not messing up, but yesterday was too much for me to resist. So, time to get back on track. But MAN it was so yummy lol

Hi! I am about 2.5 weeks post op. I am currently on puree stage until 12/12, after which I move to soft foods. My recovery has been surprisingly easy. I am getting my recommended protein (averaging 70g) and water in and I haven't found any food tolerance issues (so far). I have had zero issues with keeping things down. My question is... I am fresh off the liquids and just starting into anything of "substance". I started purees this past Monday. I am struggling with the boundary between "satisfied" and "too full". I have noticed that I either eat too fast or too much (haven't figured out which yet) and get the chest tightness/esophagus fullness, where…

I’m 6 days post op and am struggling with having any energy at all. I know it’s early but I’m a fairly active person and this is freaking me out. I feel sickly and tired and dizzy all the time. I’m getting all of my protein and hitting my beverage intake. Any advice?

So i'm a medical marijuana user and I've stopped using for a few months for my surgery and I asked my nurse when I could start again and she just said "Well I wouldn't recommend it because it can make you crave foods" Like, first of all weed affects everyone differently. ALSO that's to say I have no self control or sense. I have the common sense to know not to try to eat things i'm not supposed to after surgery even if i'm high. Like they act as if when i'm high I forget what planet i'm on. It's so annoying. I'm not just going to stop smoking weed but I also will wait until it's safe for me to. When did you guys start back again? Don't tell me to try to quit because that'…

I'm now 3 months post op and had just my bloodwork done. Noticed that my leucocytes were elevated (upper normal limit here 8,2, which is what my results were the last time (pre op) as they have been usually along that area before as well Now the result was 10,1 so significantly higher, I don't have any acute illnesses at the moment, no cold, haven't had covid etc and would be interested to know if anyone else has had the their leucocytes levels increased after surgery (not directly after, rather months after)? I have been really tired for the past few weeks but there has been some stress in my life, and I have been thinking that that would be a contributor.

Is there a formula for logging the fluids and proteins for stage 3? Example, if you do 2 scoops powder with 8 oz milk but are drinking out of little 2oz cups every 15-30 mins? How are we logging this? Thanks.

Veterans of weight-loss surgery, what kind of plan do you go into Thanksgiving with? Do you count calories, weigh your food or just eat tiny portions of what you want? Do you go out of your way to make WLS-friendly sides and desserts? I just broke a 3 week stall and I don't want to go back to that weight ever again. Any tips and tricks are appreciated!

I noticed since some weight loss I have been super clumsy. Its like my equilibrium is off. If I'm walking on a flat surface I will all of a sudden start slanting and usually grab something to steady myself. Has anyone had this happen to them?

Hi all, I’m 3 weeks post op after gastric bypass surgery and the last week I haven’t been able to keep anything down. I’m constantly sipping on water but no matter what I do it comes back up again. Last weekend I made a stupid mistake of having a bite out of a toasted chicken wrap thinking if I chewed it well it wouldn’t do me any harm. I felt absolutely fine afterwards but the following day is when this stage I’m at started. Really worried I’ve done some damage now and don’t know what to do??

It’s been a week after gastric bypass surgery and I’m on thick liquids not taking pain meds much anymore but every time I drink or have my soups my stomach hurts a lot. Protein shakes are really sweet and hurt my stomach even water and popsicles. Plus I’m lactose intolerant and sensitive to corn ingredients so I stay away from those so I know that’s not where the pain is coming from. Anyone else have pain after eating or drinking post op?

Hi guys. I am 1 week and a few days post Op from my sleeve surgery. I’m a little concern because I have notice that I am able to drink Water like normal. I’m also able to drink Protein Shakes without a problem. I had mash potato and I was able to eat a good amount without having to feel horrible. I know everyone is different. I just find it strange. Has anyone dealt with this? I’m just nervous that this surgery did not work.

Have you been on vacation since surgery? How did you do? I'll be visiting family at a beautiful beach town soon! & I've been over-planning to not mess up my progress or hurt my stomach. I have so many restaurant options already picked out, microwavable meals I can have, protein snacks, & I'm packing a Bento box just in case I need to take extra protein out w me. It's gonna be a challenge but I think I'm well prepared! Any tips?

When were you guys allowed to start eating carbs? How did you feel? I follow a Youtuber that got the sleeve & she was allowed to eat anything including carbs after 6 weeks, while my Kaiser program wants me to wait 3 months so I was shocked to see her start eating rice, tacos & pancakes so soon. I had no clue the carb time-line varied so much

My handbook, every YouTube video, every blog states that it should take 30mins to finish a meal. However, I'm finding that I'm eating faster than that & I feel fine. No stomach aches, no dumping etc. (maybe it's bc I'm still in the soft food stage) How long has it been since your surgery & how long does it take you to finish a meal? Do you find certain foods take longer to eat than others? If so which ones.

I've been stuck at the same weight for 4 weeks now. I'm starting to panic. I'm nowhere near my goal weight. I've been trying to drink all of my water and get my protein in. I've got extra stress for work and school right now. I know that's not helping. Anyone have some advice or similar struggles?

I had gastric sleeve surgery12/3/15 and as I recover, I repeatedly have distressing dreams where I am gorging on foods that are completely off limits to me at this stage (pans of brownies, cake with handfuls of icing, carbonated drinks, tortilla chips... ). I wake up in a panic, thinking I have "broken" my new stomach. Then the relief comes when I realize it was just a dream. I've had a variation of this dream three to four times since having surgery seven days ago! Must be some kind of psychic purging of old habits. Have any of you experienced this kind of thing? :-) -Ann

I’m about 3 months post-op and have noticed that some old (bad) habits are starting to creep back into my life. My worst problem pre-surgery was snacking at night. I’ve been slowly doing this again. At dinner, I feel full after 6-8 bites of food, but not snacking. I feel like I’m able to take in a lot more when snaking than regular meals. I know I need to just not do it all, but obviously that’s easier said than done. Anybody else went through these cravings around this time post-op? If so, what did you do/are you doing to curb the cravings?

Hello everyone, I could really use some input or info on anyone that has experienced numbness of the body. Where was the numbness? Did it progress? What did the doctor suggest and did it clear? I started to experience some numbness in my legs about 3 1/2 weeks ago. The numbness now has progressed to pretty much my whole entire body except for my head everything is numb and it’s to the point where it’s getting a little harder to walk without feeling like I might fall but I’m thankful I can still walk at this point. I don’t really experience much tingling and it’s not painful even though every now and then I’ll get a little shocks when I am sitting crisscross or stretching …

Had my 6 month post op appt on Wednesday. Went FANTASTIC, but still in this stupid stall. Officially 3 weeks on Wednesday. So so annoying. Really ready to have it break so I can get on with it. Have to get bloodwork done, but all vitals and stats look excellent. Happy with my progress and my NSVs and my improved health. My dietician told me to keep my calories between 1100 - 1200 per day and add 2 days of weight training to my workout routine. I was doing light weights and cardio 5 days per week and she said to add the weight training to the 2 days I'm not working out. She said my diet and drinks and Snacks are all good, the amount and frequency I'm eating are good. So ho…

Wondering how other people manage period pain after surgery. Before surgery, I would use iBuprofen and that worked perfectly. I would take a couple and it would completely get rid of my pain. Cramps, back aches, discomfort. All gone. Now, after surgery, I'm not allowed to take it anymore, so I tried Tylenol and it simply doesn't work as well for me when it comes to managing period pain. Are there any other options?

Hi! I’m almost 10 weeks post rny surgery. I keep having a long lasting bad taste in my mouth. (Yes I’m taking my reflux meds!) I was trying to pay attention to when it’s worse and I think it’s after I take my calcium chew! I switched to a different brand and it’s the same taste. I’m wondering if calcium citrate chews cause a bad taste for anyone else? Maybe it’s something else and I’m way off but I feel like it’s the chews! Thanks for your time!

I was warned about food tasting different post-op but I did not expect flavors to change so much! I'm 41 days out & I ate teriyaki chicken from one of my favorite spots. I snuck a piece of orange chicken & suddenly did NOT like it. it tasted too sweet! Also Kraft cheese slices. I grabbed half a slice to to pair with some chicken & it tasted SO weird. I know it was never good cheese but it tasted worse than usual lol. Things in general just taste sweeter & stronger. What about you guys? Also are these taste changes permanent for you?

This is the longest one so far, but each time is a little longer so I was expecting this. STILL...... my 6 my 6 month follow up is Wednesday and I really wanted to be below 300 when I went in. I know I'm still doing well, it's just a personal goal I had that I'm bummed I won't meet. I won't see them again until my 1 year follow up, so maybe I'll have a big jump for them to see by then. Have I mentioned how much I hate stalls? Because I do. I really do. Gotta just keep on keepin on and eventually the stall will break and I'll drop again. Just super annoying.

Ok, need some advice. Everytime I eat anything, my throat starts this embarrassing growing noise. I can feel bubbles like feeling coming up from the bottom of my throat and come to the top. I compare it to the sizzling rock candy I use to eat as a kid. It's so embarrassing and uneasy feeling, it makes me not want to eat at all. What gives? I take Prilosec now.

I am using both for maintenance calories. As everyone knows, these tend to be a little off but I still love using them since it gives me some kind of guideline, and I find tracking fun and enlightening. My questions are: When I input my weight when I lose or gain, does the calories adjust to the new weight I input or does it always go by goal weight and Fitbit activity alone? Also, those of you that use either, do you find the calories (or carbs if you are on low carb) requirement to lose or maintain, too high, too low or just right? Thanks in advance.

to those of you post op who had sleep apnea and cpap/bipap machines….. Did your sleep apnea improve? How long/how much weight before it did? Did you stop using your machine/when? i am down about 50 lbs already since my in lab sleep titration test (70+ since my at home sleep study) and I was severe and needing bipap. (tmi but i was having issues with hypoxic morning migraines and sleep paralysis) I hate my machine but like not getting hypoxic at night so I still wear it. Just went to sleep dr and they were not really helpful with the question. said I would need to loose “significant” weight before I would need retesting or come off the …

I searched the forum, and despite a ton of posts requesting Protein powder recommendations, I couldn't find this topic.... So, can anyone suggest a Protein Powder (preferably unflavored) that gives a good amount of protein but doesn't require a big scoop? I currently have Jarrow, and the scoops size is about 1/4 cup for 18 G protein. That is a lot of bulk to add when my meals are so small (almost two weeks out). I can use half a scoop, but then the amount of protein added seems really small. So I guess I'm looking for either a powder with a decent amount of protein with a small scoop, or a powder with a much larger amount of protein per scoop, so I can halve the scoo…

I am 3 weeks post op today and haven't experienced any real nausea the whole time. But yesterday and today I am having the WORST nausea all day. I wake up and it's instant. I had to leave work early because it's been so bad today. I took 2 Zofran and it worked for less than an hour before it came back. The worst part is my new stomach isn't capable of throwing up - just dry heaving spit. I have a doctor appointment tomorrow to check it out. My question is has anyone developed nausea out of the blue? It's been hard to stay on top of eating and drinking when my stomach is flip-flopping all day ?
