So my esophagus had to be dilated. The doctor said there are polyps all in my stomach that he biopsied. He also said I have keloids all along the incision line from my sleeve. He biopsied those, too. And he said there's a gastric tumor that he biopsied, as well. 5 biopsies in all. I'm on soft foods today. I'll have the results of the biopsies in a week. I have a follow up appt with him then, and I follow up with the bariatric surgeon Feb 2nd.

As funny as it sounds it really sucks that I have lost my butt! It hurts bad! Sitting down for some time hurts. Getting up after sitting for a bit hurts… any tips? Anyone have a cushion that helps them with this? Will it get less painful when I loose more weight up top? Literally my only complaint of this process…

Hi All, wondering if anyone has had this issue and can offer any advise: My surgery was on 1/9/23. At my appt on 1/17/23 I was down 35 lbs, 10 of which was from the week prior to surgery being on liquid diet. My doctor switched me to purée as of 1/17 which I’ve been following to a tee. But ever since switching my scale has been stuck, no loss and actually up 1 lb yesterday - back down that 1 lb today. I’m worried because I’m told the biggest weight loss happens in first 90 days, did I go through all of this for just 35 lbs lost??

I had my surgery 4 days ago and am experiencing a lot of discomfort in my stomach every time I drink - even tiny sips of water. I’m worried if this doesn’t get better soon I’ll have to go in for IV hydration. Did anyone else have a hard time keeping up with liquid intake postop? I knew it would be hard but I didn’t realize it would be so painful….

Hi all, this is my first post. I have gastroparesis and am going in for an RNY in March. I've always had the pre-planned mindset, and I'm worried about the clear liquid weeks since I'm allergic to beef and beef protein is in alot of foods. No hospital jello for me! What is the normal type of protein supplement those first two weeks? I'm going to start cooking and freezing chicken bone broth soon, so I can eat easily. Thanks, and I'm looking forward to getting to know y'all!

I had the gastric sleeve done on January 15,2021... I was really good at first. Probably for the first 7-9 months I ate what I was supposed to, did my excersice like I was supposed to. Then I fell off the road. I slowly started eating badly again. I would make excuses or something like that. Then it got more and more. Now I have gained weight back on. I am finding hard to get back on track and stay with it. I beat myself up about it almost every day. I would really appreciate any kind of advice from someone else who may have gone through something similar or just anyone who might know how I can get back to it. Thank you in advance

Hi there I am curious if anyone has tried a weight loss program called noom? I had a bypass 21 months ago and I still have 18 pounds left to lose to reach my goal weight Of 128 lbs. The surgery was amazing but I feel like it’s very easy to experience stalls and start to lose focus. They report that most people will reach their goal weight by 18 months and afterwords effects of the surgery will start to diminish which is not an encouraging thing to hear! Would love to hear others stories or advice on how they lost those last 20 lbs etc? Michele

I’m learning a lot from reading others posts and also learning that sometimes doctors don’t 100% prepare us for our return home I’m thinking it’s because they don’t know first hand what it’s like to recover from WLS? I dunno, whatever the reason it’d be nice to have this post to refer to when I’m post-op (I’m getting roux en y gastric bypass) So, give me all your best tips for recovery and necessities. What did you need and wish you had readily available? Thanks in advance!!!

I had my surgery on June 8th and exactly a week later I was in the ER because I couldn’t stop throwing up. I just spent five days in the hospital and was released today. Turns out, I had a lower bowel obstruction which is a terrible experience to have to go through. Anyway, now I’m scared to even drink anything because it’s not totally clear yet and I don’t know how I’m supposed to know when it is cleared. Also, I am expecting to go to the bathroom and have a huge bowel movement and that’s how I know it’s cleared except if I haven’t eaten for the past six days, is it even possible to poop? For the past 3 days, I’ve been on a clear liquid diet. I’m afraid to even start ha…

Looking for some advice/suggestions, I'm getting a little bored with the same old stuff I've been eating and want to change it up a bit. I see people talking all the time about meal prepping so they only have to prepare one big meal on Sunday and then they are able to save the rest to eat throughout the week. I'd love to do that so I'm not tempted to eat out or do something unhealthy when I don't have time or energy to make a meal. But I've never done anything like that before ever, I always prepare the meal right before I eat it. Sometimes I'll have leftovers that I'll heat up the next day, but I really would like to be able to prep for the week in advance. …

I’m 3 full days post op on a sleeve to bypass surgery. I’m finding it a little painful to breath. Not like I can’t breath but deep breath hurt a bit in my lungs. Kinda feels like when I have a chest cold or bronchitis. Is this normal? Just after effects of the anesthesia?

Hello! I’m four weeks post op for gastric sleeve and have been incorporating soft proteins. I noticed that I feel a distinct rise in temperature including sweating after eating some meals. Sometimes I’ll go from cold and shivering before I eat to sweating after in what seems like very little time. Has anyone else experienced this? Is it just a reflection of my body working hard to digest?

Anyone have any experience with it? I'm 8 months post op and my hair is still coming out like crazy. I'm lucky I started out with a LOT of thick hair, otherwise I feel like I would be darn near bald by now lol I've been seeing ads for Nutrifol everywhere, and while it sounds and looks really good, I just want to see if anyone here has ever used it and if it actually does what it says. I know it's a waiting game for the hair to stop shedding, and I know protein consumption is the best thing for hair regrowth. But any additional help I can give my poor head, the better, you know?

Hello All! I was just wondering if anyone has taken weight loss medication after having bariatric surgery?! I had VSG in March and lost about 50 lbs in four months which was super exciting. Though, I haven't lost any weight since mid-July. My 6month post-op doctor suggested that I start taking Saxenda because Wegovy is on back order tool January. I started at 250 and have been sitting at 200-202 for three months. I guess my question is, has anyone else taken weight loss medication after having surgery? I feel pretty disappointed! Yes, fifty pounds is something to be proud of, but I feel like I lost 70-80% of my stomach, and now I need to take medication. Wtf! I'…

Hi there this is probably a common issue with weight loss surgery. I am almost 2 years post op from a bypass and really have zero complaints ..but stopped exercising over 4 months ago and became more lenient on my food choices and ended up gaining 7 lbs over the last 6 months.. The issue is once you see a slight gain it seems hard to lose an ounce of weight. I’ve downloaded a weight loss app and started monitoring my daily calories, water intake and exercise with no luck so far. I’m curious how others out there who encountered this situation were able to restart there weight loss. What apps are you using? Did you continue using the protein shakes? I feel responsible here…

Hello my name is Kelsey and I’m new to this website/forum. I came on here to seek advice/friends to help me out. I have been struggling so so bad lately. I had weight loss surgery 11.28.2015 and I was 400 pounds when I did. After about a year and a half I had lost a lot of weight, I got down to 170 pounds. I was happy at this weight, healthy, had less back/foot/ankle/knee pain, etc, you knew the drill. Until Covid i kept most of it off. In the past 3 years I have noticed a steady incline in weight again, so much so that I got back up to 270 at one point. i went back to my surgeon, dr Scott in search of maybe a revision. What I got instead was a speech…

Such a weird question, but I’m super bothered by this! I’m 6 weeks post op RNY. From immediately after surgery I have one armpit especially, sometimes both with horrible body odor!! I had switched off heavy deodorant probably 5 or so years ago and only use natural. I could do CrossFit and no worries. Now I can’t even sleep through the night without waking up smelling like I’ve ran a marathon! What’s the deal??? Anyone else with this? Is it anesthesia, burning fat off or what? I want it to go away and be not smelly like before…but I’ll take the lost pounds and just reapply for every few hours if I have to lol

I had the sleeve 12/21/22. I am about a week and a half into starting puréed foods and I am struggling big time. What I’ve tried, hurts, and I can’t think of what foods to try puréed. Anyone out there have suggestions of mush/puréed that worked for them? Right now I am doing three smoothies a day, yogurt, jello, and pudding in between and I’m just not feeling satiated.

Has anyone tried one of these? I’m thinking of using it for salad dressing but wonder if the creamy ones would be too thick?? It has the tablespoon measurements on it which would be great to measure out a serving if it works. I found them on Amazon. They are made for oil and vinegar but I want to use it for my yogurt ranch. I may get one just for thanksgiving day though cause my husband uses olive oil for the Turkey and I want him to see just how much he uses. Hey everyone. So I'm in my fifth week post OP and have been doing extremely well with food choices, slow eating, careful chewing, and sticking within the parameters my nutritionist and my doctor have given me. This morning, I tried eating an over medium egg (cooked whites, soft & runny yolk) over the shakshuka I have been eating all week for breakfast. (It is a pureed form of shakshuka with sausage that I've had zero trouble with over the last week.) I keep seeing that dumping syndrome seems to be only related to too much sugar. Since I'm not a sweets fan, that's not a problem for me. However, after just throwing up most of what I just ate, and it being the …

Hi everyone, Does anyone know of a chart that tells us how much protein, kcals, fats, carbs, fibre and salt we should eat as post-bariatric patients? Since I’m writing everything down, I feel like I should at least check that I’m not going over the top on salt, for example. I also suffer from constipation and I would like to try and manipulate my food to help - so it’s good to have base lines! The recommended daily allowance that we get on food labels in the U.K. is for standard diets of 2000kcals per day. Maybe I should just quarter that but I wonder if there’s a calculator out there that takes different sizes of people into consideration? Hope this isn’t a silly qu…

Since my revision I've picked up a strange new habit. I still think about food quite a bit, although I still average 970 to 1000 a day. I'm upping it slowly for maintenance. I'm going on my one year revision surgiversary in August. I love shopping online and get all kinds of food but I literally have a room full of food in sealed containers. If there is any emergency, I would have about 3 months of food or more haha. My poor husband has to eat the overfull freezer and fridge food that I buy. I used to have an empty fridge and freezer and eat out all the time (pre WLS srugeries) but not in the last year. Maybe because I've been cooking a lot at home and I want all the ingr…

Three weeks post surgery on my revision to a distal gastric bypass and my urine output keeps dropping. I drink 80-100oz of water a day, but am barely peeing like I did before. Scale hasn’t moved since the first week of surgery either. I’ve called the doc and they said since I’m not having problems breathing or swelling in my extremities, it’s just a stall. My pee is getting darker and it’s starting to get me worried.

I follow my programs calorie guide very strictly & the excitement to eat food has made it easy to keep up with that. I'm now 3 months out, that excitement had faded a bit & for a week or so I was 100 cals under my goal (800cals) - now I'm 200cals under my goal. How do you make sure to eat when you're truly just -not- hungry?

Have any of you had or wanted to have plastic surgery after weight loss, or other beauty treatments, especially (but not only) in the face? I've lost 41 pounds and I see it in my face. I really would like to have eyelid surgery and I also need to have something done with my neck, since I'm developing a bit of a turkey neck for the first time in my life. What's even worse, it's a bit off center. I'm wondering if it will get better or worse as I lose more weight. I also want to have a breast lift, and possibly a breast reduction, but I probably have to wait another year for that since I need to be at or near my goal weight for that. I'm hoping to avoid a tummy t…

Hi Gang. Meow here. 5.5 months post op bypass. I've had slow but steady losses. (SW:217 CW:178. GW: 150) And I just felt the need to make a post about my sweet addiction. Before my surgery I found myself very concerned about dumping. Often asking in the forum whether Bypass meant I could never have treats again and being assured I could "eventually" or "a bite or two" or "in moderation" etc. This brought me great relief. I knew then I wasn't in the ideal frame of mind but I was doing the best I could. I found at about 4 weeks post op I could tolerate about 5 of my favorite chocolate covered almonds and ate them every night as a reward for hitting my p…

Hey there! I'm new to this forum, so I hope to get a warm welcome I plan on having my surgery in November of this year and I'm super excited! Now, I've looked up some of this information on this already, however could not find very much. So I'm hoping with some luck I will get a few answers here. I am a recreational smoker of marijuana. However, I am proud to say that I am now 85 days sober due to the fact that I'm going for a promotion at my job that requires a hair follicle test. Before this however, I smoked a bowl at least once a day for 2-3 years. And before I get everyone talking about transfer addiction, understand that I was able to cut cold turkey without any…

I have been crazy busy, but I love it here and wanted to update you guys on what's new with me. And hopefully some of you will give updates on yourselves here, too So I am getting used to the work outs I've been doing (and by that I mean I don't need 2-3 days between working out now. I can do 6 days and take 1 rest day). I do cardio twice per week for an hour and a half each time, I do strength and core training twice per week for an hour and 15 minutes each time, and I do weight training twice per week for an hour each time (that's my least favorite lol) On my rest day, I literally do nothing. I work and do college from home, so I either lay in bed or on my love s…

I apologize for this because I know it’s been talked about a million times. BUT seriously I am at my wits end. I am 9 weeks out from RNY and just stuck. I lost 25 prior to surgery, 27.9 since surgery now under 200 @ 197.6. The scale won’t move. I am not breaking the rules, I am getting 60-80 grams of Protein a day, drinking 80 or more oz of Water per day. Carbs hanging in between 30-70. I’m killing it at the gym. I CrossFit 3-4 times a week and walk several miles on my off days. I reached out to my team and she planned for a call next week. She did mention maybe I wasn’t getting enough carbs, maybe needing like 100-150 on CrossFit days! Any experience with this? Seems …

I had a gastric sleeve operation two weeks ago. Have now started on puree food and am doing ok, food wise and not in any pain. However, I am frequently nauseous and I have a very difficult time swallowing tablets. I have to take meds for high blood pressure and blood sugar. One of my motivations for having the surgery was to hopefully get off some of the meds in due time. I still have to take them for now, though, but it's proving to be quite difficult. I take them one pill at a time and drink a bit of water with each. Even if I wait between each pill and try not to drink too much water, I often feel nauseous after and sometimes gag and have dry heaves. Tonigh…

Question!? And I am sure this is repetitive but I can’t find a specific answer! So I am 8 weeks in post operation. And my friends invited me out for drinks I explained that I can’t drink and they said for me to just try a buzzball which is 19.9 grams in carbs, 22.1 grams in alcohol, 248 in calories and also it’s gluten free! And I think I could probably only do half of that anyway. So my question is can I have a little to drink ? And how would it affect me if I do? Besides getting intoxicated faster. Thanks in advance and hope everyone has an amazing new year!!!

I'm had bypass April 15th and eggs use to be my favorite go to protein. I've tried eggs over the stove using different healthy butter alternatives, trying scrambled, fried, and boiled. Everytime I'm in the bathroom within minutes. Frozen Atkins egg meals are a lil easier but barely. I still get nauseated but I don't puke them up like fresh eggs. Anyone else have this issue?

Hello everyone! First-time poster here. I had Gastric Sleeve surgery on Monday 8/15. I went in hungry and woke up hungry. The day of and days following I haven't experienced any nausea or vomiting. I have been drinking water non stop, eating Liquicel protein packs, and sugar free popsicles like crazy. I'm worried because I've not had anything come back up. My stomach should hold around 4ounces so if I'm consuming more than 4oz, where is the rest going? Does liquid just move extremely quickly through your stomach? I'm starting to think the doctor just made some incisions but didn't take anything out, Hah! I know, unlikely. I just don't feel as restricted as …

Way back, when I weighed what I do now, I don't remember always being cold like this!!! I'm not skinny, or even thin. I'm still considered morbidly obese. Yet before, I was always feeling overheated, and now I'm always cold!!! I wear thick socks around the house, pants, long sleeved shirts, and I'm still cold lol It's so weird to me. Also, my bp (which I used to be on meds for) now stays around 105/63 - 110/72 all the time now. That's awesome, but still takes some getting used to. I'm 5 months and 1 week out from surgery, and the changes are just wild!!!

My sternum sticks out since loosing 65 lbs from pre surgery it seems like it has a bump on it and the front of my rib cage at the edge feels thick and the sides feel thin. It is weird to feel these bones since being so overweight for do long i never paid attention to them. I'm wondering if anyone elce is going through this also and does it seem normal or odd that I seem to have this. I would include pics but it doesn't show in pics. I'm also experiencing thin but and having the tail bone hurt from sitting for long time , but is has gotten better but now I get sore from the bone where the leg goes into the hip. As the clock ticks down to surgery day, I'm wondering if those of you who are post-op or are in the maintenance phase have favorite bariatric cookbooks or recipe blogs that you recommend. I see Amazon has some great bariatric cookbooks, specifically bariatric air fryer cookbooks, which I'm excited about in order to reduce cooking my protein in oil/butter. TIA!

From VST I've learned that there is quality Protein and so so protein -- I had no idea before coming here! I've tried a number of Protein shakes and a few protein powders (Syntrax Nector and Prescriptfit) and the only one that I can really stomach are the Atkins shakes. Does anyone know if they contain a quality protein or a low grade? I ordered a bunch of samples from unjury but I have a feeling I'm not going to fare much better with those based on what I've read here. Thanks! Dana
