  14. I had my sleeve in May 2022 at age 62, so I am 8 mos post-op. Recovery was quick and fairly easy for me! Like others, wish I hadn't waited so long! I've stalled over the holidays and even gained a couple of pounds, but I am back on track now. My weight loss has slowed dramatically and my surgeon says I'll probably only lose another 20 lbs, but I'm good with that. I feel FANTASTIC! I've eliminated one of my BP meds and the other has been cut in half and some days I don't take it if my pressure is low. I do at least 30 minutes of aerobic exercise five days per week, alternating stationary bike and rowing machine. I think my hair loss has finally slowed/stopped. My surgeon & internist are very pleased with my progress. I'm sure I could have lost more if I had eaten cleaner the past 8 mos, but I really have just been relying on portion control and eating pretty much what I want, but focusing on healthier options when available and keeping track of my protein intake. Definitely consumed far too many sweets over the holidays. My husband and I are spending a week in a cabin in the woods near Fairbanks, Alaska in a couple of weeks and I'm excited to see how much easier the smaller me will fit in the seat for the long flight!
  15. I ate whatever I wanted, just in small quantities - successfully made it through leftovers without gaining weight. Even had pie
  16. First photo is from an Alaskan cruise in 2019. The second is at 60 lbs loss while on vacation in Miami.
  17. I'm disappointed that I didn't know about this options BEFORE I had my VSG, although I am very pleased with my progress.

  19. I must be slow....what is ESG?
  20. I expect to experience this tonight! I am attending a retirement party for my boss and MANY former employees are attending, some of whom I haven't seen in 8 years!
  21. We are having our usual large family gathering and will make our traditional meal: Turkey, dressing, mashed potatoes, green bean casserole, corn pudding, fruit salad, deviled eggs, homemade cranberry sauce and a variety of pies: pumpkin, pecan, lemon chess, buttermilk, mincemeat, cherry, apple... I plan to have at least a bite of all of my Thanksgiving favorites!
  22. I'm 62 and had sleeve surgery 3.5 mos ago. My BMI was over 40. I am already down 55 lbs, 2-3 sizes smaller and feeling fabulous. I've had very little discomfort with the surgery and eat whatever I want - albeit in much smaller quantities. I consume on average 900-1100 calories per day. Happy to answer any other questions you might have. I have no regrets other than wishing I had had the surgery sooner!
  23. The stalls are the WORST! Congrats on your weight loss though!
  24. Maybe try frozen yogurt instead of ice cream? Or a sugar free brand.
  25. Oh my! That is frustrating! My scale has stood still for 3 days, so I suspect that I am now in a stall as well!
  26. I am 3 mos out and had my final nutritionist visit last week. Because I am healed and tolerating the surgery well, she has cleared me (more or less) for juice, soda, alcohol, coffee, etc. - all in MODERATION. I have had small portions of cake, cheesecake, pie, cobbler and candy and have not experienced dumping syndrome. I HAVE had the foamies when eating something either too bulky or taking one or two bites too many. I generally stay between 900-1100 calories per day. I am 62, 50 lbs down and still losing 1-2 lbs per week. EDIT: By "clear", I mean I made her aware that I had consumed this items without any negative consequences and we discussed that I should have no problems if I exercise moderation.
  27. Boy I hope this calculator is wrong! I'm just 3 mos out and down 50 lbs. According to this calculator, I can only expect to lose another 16 lbs?!!!!
