TW: Mention of ED I’m about 4 weeks out from having this gastric sleeve surgery. Right now I am on the soft foods stage. I have one week of it left. When I was on the liquid diet I was craving food watching food videos and just could not wait to eat again. Now suddenly I am disgusted by all foods, and I do mean all foods even my “favorites.” I look in my fridge and most days I’m just like “I would rather not” and I have to force myself to eat but normally halfway through I’m like I can’t do this anymore. Ive also been experiencing a “twisting” feeling in my stomach when eating or drinking which is very discouraging trying to get the food down. I’ve even been doing this t…

Hi So I’m two weeks post op and currently struggling to get keep my water intake and vitamins intake. Whenever I take a pill I feel severe discomfort like heartburn for 20 mins and need my husbands help to rub my chest off to move it down. This makes it difficult for me. I have restrictions to have only a spoonful of water each time and wait for 3 mins between the next spoon. This makes it tough to get enough water and my skin is becoming flaky. I also find it difficult to swallow anything with protein powder in it . I think I am losing ideal weight 1lb per day but it also includes muscle loss which I would like to avoid. Any advice or tips that I could get on taking…

I finished my schooling and am officially working in my chosen field as a medical assistant!!! I got my certification and I'm working in a critical care pulmonary office. I'm absolutely LOVING it!! And even though I can look at myself and see the weight loss, and I can see my diabetes and blood pressure are normal now, I still have a hard time believing I'm physically able to do my job and do it well. Yet here I am....doing the d@mn thing!!! I have a CT with contrast on the 29th because my bariatric surgeon thinks I have a distal hernia (if you look at my stomach in my pic, you can see that area poking out a little). And I have my complete hysterectomy scheduled for …

I had surgery on 11/9. I’ve lost 20lbs since surgery 247 down to 227. I have stalled the last few days with no budge on the scale. Should I be worried? It seems pretty early for a plateau?? I’m tracking and getting between 300 and 500 calories a day. Is my weight loss over? I just can’t believe my weight is stalling already. I guess I just need some encouragement.

So as you all know, I had my revision from sleeve to bypass on June 28th because of severe gerd, esophagitis, gastritis, and a ton of pre-cancerous polyps all through my stomach. I was put on 80mg of Nexium daily and still had a lot of pain and break through gerd issues. After the revision, the PPI was lowered to 40mg daily for 2 weeks and then on weeks 3 and 4, go to 40mg every other day and then completely stop at the beginning of week 5. Well here I am, doing the evry other day, and I had horrible gerd today!!! My throat was burning, my esophagus felt like I had acid in it, and I was MISERABLE. I had to take a Nexium (today was a day not to take it) and follow it up an…

I'm one week post op and have been having the oddest stomach spasms when I try to consume anything other than water (and it happens with water sometimes too). It feels like my stomach bunches up into a fist and tries to somersault within my belly. It provokes a wave of sharp pain and nausea and is very unpleasant. I mentioned this to the doc when I was in the hospital and he gave me a med that worked some for the smaller ones, but it has stopped working (he warned it might). I can usually drink water but anything heavier like a protein drink, a strained soup, a protein broth, or even jello provokes this odd cramping sensation. Sometimes it even happens when I'm not eating…

Hello - I had my my VSG about 20 days ago. I was cleared for the soft food phase but it takes me 2 hours to finish ONE egg and the food makes me feel like something is stuck in my throat. I decided to stay on purées because of it. Is that normal? How long does it last? Second question…. Where they heck is our stomach? Any discomfort I feel is only on my left side. When I feel the food “drop” it’s always there. I also feel a tightness and poking sensation on that side. Sometimes it feels like baby flutters too… Is that normal? Any advice would help. Thanks!!

I've been having really bad left side pain since I had my surgery 7/17/23. Yesterday night I had fever twice going as high as 102.5. I called my surgeon who advised me to keep hydrating and visit their office in the AM. When I woke up this morning I noticed some redness and swelling around my left side incision and moving towards belly button. I decided to go to doctors office and they put me on antibiotics. I have to go in 2 days to see the surgeon. The nurse told me he might possibly have to open the incision back and drain it. I am praying and hoping he doesn't have to drain it. It sounds so painful. I had fever twice today. I can't wait for this …

I had gastric bypass 10/18 I also had my gallbladder removed. The first 2 weeks I lost 18 pounds.I was happy and then i go to my clinic for a class with people who had surgery the same day or around the same time.We were there to go over the next phase of eating .Everyone was discussing there weigh loss (30lbs and up) and what they've been eating.I thought to myself im eating far less than most of them why am I only down 18 and there 30+ At the time I was having 8oz of pureed soup,a protein shake or two,and 32oz of water.Im having trouble getting in 64oz of water.I thought ma…

For those who have had the surgical procedure, on a scale of 1-10 (1 being not worth the worry and 10 being couldn't have survived without it), what value do you place on the use of a recliner during the days immediately following your surgery?

I am a week and a half out from surgery, and I had my first official full-fledged cheat today. I ate a slice and a half of avacado. I'm not supposed to even be trying vegetables for about another two weeks, but it just looked so good. So, my lovely ladies and handsome gents, tell me about the first time you fell off the horse? What did you eat? How far out were you? Was it hard to get back on track? Story sharing time.

I'm a week out from surgery but have been having rib to back pain (maybe spasms). At first, it was if I had sipped too much liquid, but now it comes and goes on its own. Has anybody else experienced this? Is this normal?

Hello everyone! I was just wondering if its just me or have you experienced being more clumsy/less finger dexterity after surgery I'm 2 months post op. I find I drop things more, fumble with safety seals etc. Is this something others have experienced since surgery or should I be concerned? ??

Hey everyone! 5 months post op and I’ve been noticing that I have a lump directly under one of my incisions from gastric bypass surgery in June. I’m assuming it’s nothing serious - probably just some scar tissue but I don’t meet with my surgeon until December to ask him so I was just going to see if anyone had anything similar?? Hope everyone’s progress is going well!

Write what YOU eat in a day. I'm nosy and would like to know. Also, maybe it'll give me some food ideas. I'm almost 8 months out. Getting bored of some foods. If you've had stalls, what do YOU do to break those stalls?

Reposting on this forum from the gals room… Has anyone had their mirena iud removed after weight loss surgery and gained weight because of it? I got my gastric sleeve last year and I’m so happy with where I’m at however, I’ve been considering getting my iud removed. My issue is that I have pcos and am terrified that I gain weight due to hormones after getting it removed. Has anyone else been in this situation that can offer any advice?

I want to start this thread out by first apologizing for the question I am about to ask. For me, this question is not just embarrassing but extremely embarrassing, but I need to know the answer and don't want to call my surgeons office, I'm sure they are pretty busy today and it's nothing life threatening. So with that being said, it's off to my question. I am now 1 month and 2 weeks post op and have been noticing a foul smell coming from my viginal area, kind of like an acidic smell. I have been to my regualr doctor and had test and test run and I have no infection whatso ever ran, I have had a test for every STD out there ran, (even though I am married and DO NOT c…

It's driving me completely crazy. Nothing I do is getting it off. Working out...no. Changing up what I do on my workouts....no. Sticking to my diet.....no. Being even more strict with my diet.....no. Easing up my diet a bit.....no. Doing easier workouts.....no. Carb blockers...no. Appetite suppressants....no. Supplements to speed up metabolism.....no. I absolutely REFUSE to stay at this weight, but I truly don't know what else to do......I'm LITERALLY going out of my mind. I need to lose these last 50 pounds, and absolutely nothing is helping. Just needed to vent about it and get it out of my system.

Hi community! Hope you’re all well. I am officially 18 days post op and I am struggling. My puréed diet is very restrictive. I can’t have eggs, tuna, cheese like many can and I’m struggling with meeting my protein goals. I was told not to have protein shakes as a liquid but as a meal. But it’s difficult to meet my liquids goal and my protein goal when I feel like I don’t have many options. These are the things I was cleared to have: 2 oz. of milk, 2 oz. of low fat or light yoghurt, protein shakes, mashed potatoes, mashed avocado, 2-3 oz. of small curd cottage cheese, hot cereals like oatmeal, cream of wheat, farina with skim milk, lentils, chick peas, tofu or …

I did it!!! I just got offered a job IN MY CHOSEN FIELD!!!!! I busted my butt (finished my program early and with a 94), chased a dream I thought was lost to me (thanks to the surgery, getting my health under control, changing my diet, and believing in myself that I could actually do it), and I just got my first job in the medical field!!!!! I literally cried. I'm so so excited!!!! I start on Monday!!!!!! Even though I'm a Medical Administrative Assistant, I won't be at the front desk when you first walk into the office (checking people in, collecting payments, verifying insurance, etc). I'll be the one that comes to get you and takes your vitals, takes you to your e…

Hi! So I see a lot of bariatric patients drinking all kinds of different protein drinks after surgery. My surgeon and dietitians have all said that anyone who goes to their clinic can only have their specific brand of protein or unjury. They've said after surgery our bodies don't tolerate other brands well because they're not whey based. But if that's true then how do other patients who've gone to other doctors tolerate them? They're not doing the surgery any differently. Im just wondering if this is a ploy to get us to buy their stuff, or if there's any truth to this? I'd like to buy pre-made shakes because their protein powder makes me nauseous. …

I have had pain in my upper abdomen under and below my ribs on the left side. Sometimes it is sharp, most of the time it feels tight. My Doctor said it's an internal stitch pulling and will go away. It is bugging me and makes it hard to exercise because of the feeling. Anyone else have this?

Hi, kinda new here. I'm 11 weeks post op gastric bypass & I'm about 55-57 lbs down to be exact. In the last few weeks I've been feeling what is kinda like experiencing a numbingness feeling or "falling asleep" "tingling" feeling in my legs from the front part of my stomach down to the top part of my things to my knees. It comes & goes, doesn't always stay! Is this normal? Am I the only one experiencing this? Please tell me this goes away?! [emoji28]?[emoji848]

For those of you that were dealing with some emotional trauma or issues that you were dealing with, did losing the physical weight help you lose the emotional weight you were carrying. For example, I don’t feel confident like I use to before I gained weight and I feel once I lose weight I will feel confident again and those thoughts of being unworthy will dissipate. Did anyone’s emotional issues go away after the weight came off?

I had my surgery back in 2019. Ever since I’ve had body pain problems. So they put me on t3 which I’ve been on for only four months now. I just experienced constipation the past few days and finally went today. It was painful and I felt like I was going to pass out. But ever since I’ve been nauseous and EXTREMELY gassy and didn’t know if anyone else has experienced this. I tried googling it but nothing came up so I want to assume maybe it’s a rny issue.

Good Morning, I am 9 days post op and have started purées. I’m trying to track my protein but I’m getting confused. This morning I made one pack of butter grits, with 1/2c Fairlife milk, and 1/2 scoop of isoprene protein powder. When you add that up it comes to 21 G protein. If I eat 2 oz how much protein did I eat?

Hi! Two months post op today and I have noticed in the last couple of weeks that I am having serious saliva over-production. Anyone else out there encounter the same issue? I talked to my nutritionist about it today and she said it could be sliming (see link- I know it is lap band and I had sleeve, but same idea: http://drsimpson.net/fills/lap-band-problems/sliming/sliming.html ) It is driving me nuts! I am spitting all of the time and find it rather disgusting. Good news though- two months post op and I am down 32lbs (43lbs if you include my pre-surgery diet).

Hey there. I had a scan of my gallbladder and there is a 2cm stone. I’ve been taking my Urisodol religiously since prescribed so just wonder if anyone who had a gallbladder issue/surgery did so as a preventative measure or bc they experienced the excruciating pain and went straight to the ER? I’m concerned but have not been counseled to have GB removed. The hope is it will slowly dissolve…any ideas or advice on how to address this? Thanks.

Hello all. I wanted to reach out to you to ask if any of you have started taking ibuprofen for headaches or whatever, after a year post OP. Initially, my surgeon said no to taking it because it can be rough on our stomach in general. However, I kept forgetting to ask him at each of my 3 month post OP visits if it is okay to take on occasion. Now I won't see him for 6 months because he is happy with my progress so my forgetfulness has caught up with me. I have been able to take children's tylenol and it actually works most times, (where prior to my surgery, I might as well have been taking a sugar pill) but I know it can be tough on our liver. I don't want to take eit…
