While looking at protein bars today I saw Quest chips and thought I would try them.... 20 / 21 Gms protein, 2 net carbs, 0 sugar and 130 calories. I only bought 3 snack size bags in case I liked them, I don't want to eat them every day. I tried the cheddar ones and liked them... I suppose if I feel I really need a snack that these wouldn't be too bad considering the protein content. I don't plan on having them often. Anyone else try them?

I am 11 days post sleeve and my pain was getting much better, I could even lay on my side with a pillow pressed against my stomach. Starting yesterday the area under the incision (not the incision itself, the muscles underneath) began to feel extremely painful, making it difficult to move. This feels like a step backwards. This pain takes my breath away. Is this normal or should I call my surgeon's office?

This didn't go well at all for me, it was my first time eating out and I thought I could eat a mozzarella stick. I think 15 minutes later I was in the restroom vomiting cheese sorry for tmi I was sweating profusely and was hot and everyone was eating like normal. Oh never again and lesson learned probably avoid eating out or continue to make healthy choices. How do you order when you're out? What do you order?

I was sleeved in 3/14. Something I have noticed is if I bend to pick something up off the floor or even if I squat down to pick it up I get lightheaded and dizzy for a couple minutes. I have to wait a minute before moving to prevent falling. It's the weirdest thing. Has anyone experienced this? Everything else is going well. I had posted last week that I fell off the wagon but I did not qualify what I meant...do here goes I literally 900 calories per day instead of my usual 600 cal and I00 gms of carbs instead of my usual 50gms. I confessed, repented and got back to protein & excercise........ well I gained 5 pounds in 1 week.....which is mathematically impossible as I did not consume 20,000 additional calories in a week....so what gives? My Overall weight loss is 42 lbs in 3 months. At this point I will take a stall but gain ???? Sent from my SM-G955U using BariatricPal mobile app

When it comes to unflavored protein powders - are Unjury and Genepro TRULY unflavored? I tried Isopure unflavored and it was definitely not unflavored. It also made my Crystal Light thicker, which was gross. Please let me know what you think!!

Hey fellow VSGers!!! I got sleeved on April 12, 2017 and before surgery I had very good skin. I Didn't have to wear makeup or anything. Now, I am experiencing small bumps all over my face and everyday I wake up with more. It looks like a rash and I tried doing face washes and face masks but nothing works! I don't think it's anything I'm eating because I'm still on soft foods and have been for the past few weeks. I'm feeling very frustrated and upset at this point because I have never experienced this. Have any of you experienced this? What should I do? HELP ME PLEASE!!!! I'm desperate over here :-(

Today as I sat down I felt a huge "POP" around the large incision on the bottom left side of my belly. The incision site once had a large dimple around it but after the "pop" the dimple is gone. It didn't really hurt when it happened but scared the crackers out of me! I thought my intestines were going to fall out!! My doc says not to worry about it if I'm not in any severe pain. I don't know I'm still pretty freaked out.....

Hi everyone! I'm getting a bit nervous about my post-surgical weight loss as I've hit my first plateau after dropping from 310 to 250 in the first 8 weeks. What seems odd compared to many of the same anxiety posts is I'm only 3 months out of surgery. I've been pretty good about my eating, following the rules (30 mins between drinks and food, extended chewing, etc.), and I'm exercising frequently (I did crossfit before surgery, and I'm back to it. However, even with all of that I've only lost 1 lb in the last month. My wife seems to think its from the workouts (building heavier muscle vs. fat), but that was always my excuse before surgery, so not sure I want to bu…

Hello all, my DOS was 04/24/2017. I am 2 to 3 weeks out. I am able to drink broth or water 8 to 12 pounces in one sitting (20 to 30 min) . I know they say liquid goes right through u, but is this to much? I am also able to have eggs, cottage and ricotta cheese, but not only do I not like them but my stomach can't take them. I stick to water and broth and protein drinks. So how much broth is too much?

I stay so nauseous , burp a lot, hiccups, and when I do try something by mouth it feels like it is trapped between my breast and chest. Any answers or suggestions please!!!! Very stressed!

The reality that "patients don't have much room for vegetables after consuming necessary protein" is one that makes me think about the rest of my life. I have to say the thought of living on 4 meals of almost exclusively protein, and a bunch of supplements (to round out how terribly unbalanced that is and keep me from essential vitamin deficiency) is a little depressing. Not I-wish-I-hadn't-done-this depressing, but still kind of depressing. I mean, I am not just someone that wanted to lose weight, I am someone that wanted to be reborn as someone that could nourish themselves sanely with balanced meals. My last meal with an intact s…

I have an extremely low budget when it comes to what I have left out of my check for food. It's so hard to find healthy things for low prices. My main focus is on protein and thats what my doctor wants me to primarily focus on anyway. I've tried out HelloFresh meal delivery and it's not bad but I work overnight and my husband is on second shift so it doesn't make sense to buy something every week that may not get cooked. I've even tried couponing but I'm not very good at it. What can I do to make sure I'm getting the right nutrients, saving money and time, and stay in the right lane of what I'm supposed to be doing? (High Protein, Low Carb, Low Calorie) And so I'm not e…

My surgeon prescribed me prilosec and gallstone avoidance medicine after surgery and I took it regularly until my 2 week appointment when I told him I hated taking it because of the taste in the applesauce. He told me I could stop taking it until I could swallow the whole capsule and I did so. I don't notice any issues with reflux on the days I don't take the prilosec and I'm wondering if any of you have stopped taking it early due to this reason? Does everyone take Prilosec after surgery for 3 months?

I'm 6 weeks out and I've been having some unexpected side effects and looking for others with the same. When I get up too fast, I feel really dizzy and my heart rate goes up. Before surgery, this never happened. Has this happened to you? My resting heart rate has also went down, but I feel like my heart rate in general spikes really quickly nowadays. If I eat an extra bite of something, my heart will speed up and stay that way for about an hour. Is this normal?

I have a surgery date of May 15th, and I am trying to start planning ahead - vitamins, protein, food - and I was wondering if anyone has tried any good tasting baby food? I already know that I like the fruit, but what about the entrees and vegetables? I am having a hard time mentally getting over the fact that I am going to have to puree my meat and veggies, so I would like to know the best things that you all have tried.

Did anyone run a fever post-op? I have a 100.8 temp and just left a message for the doctor on call. My brain is going to the worst case scenario (leak), and I'm panicking. I have some soreness when I move but otherwise not a lot of pain and none when I'm sitting. I am extremely fatigued, but I assume that's from the low calories and just generally healing.

Hi, everyone. I was sleeved a week ago and am getting 320 - 380 calories/day (from 2 Premier Proteins and sometimes a sugar-free pudding). I'd love to get a sense of other folks' experience here and tips for getting more calories to function. I'm feeling great in every way except energy and want to be sure I can go back to work fairly soon! (Scheduled for next week.) For reference, my current diet is "protein liquids" -- what's allowed are protein drinks, water, fat-free or 1% milk, yogurt, sugar-free pudding. I'd love to use milk for calories and protein but I've been trying and it smells rotten to me! Same with yogurt. I read another thread where some other folks …

I ma 1 week post op and I am not experiencing a full feeling. I am not feeling any discomfort. I am not experiencing any nausea. I basically have to stop myself from drinking too much liquids or too much soup. I was told that it would be difficult to get anything down.... NOPE... I was told that I would have to MAKE myself get the protein drinks down each day.. NOPE.. I can drink a 12 oz protein drink in one sitting with no problem... Of course, I don't do it but so disappointed that I feel NO discomfort of full feeling at all. I was up walking the same day with no problem and went through surgery with flying colors. Anyone else struggling with not feeling full ??? So dep…

16 weeks out and I am down 59lbs from my highest weight, and 51 lbs since surgery! That in and of itself is a huge accomplishment! I just wanted to share an NSV that I haven't seen anywhere else in this site yet. I went for my 6 month dental cleaning last night, and they had to do very little cleaning at all on my teeth. They said that I had very light plaque buildup since the last visit, and asked if I had changed anything significant. I explained that I completely cut out all caffeine, breads, pasta, rice (basically any non veggie carb) and SUGAR! They said that is contributing to a cleaner set of teeth, so YAY for an easy dental check up! I never expected for my teeth …

Hi everyone, I am eight-and-a-half months post-sleeve surgery, and I guess that I have reached my goal - down 70 lbs, from 203 to 133, and from a size 16-18 to a size 6-8. Of course, I am thrilled, but terror is beginning to set in about being able to maintain my new weight. I understand that there is a 'honeymoon period', after which food may become more difficult again. I am scared petrified of gaining weight back. I am focused on protein, vegetables and fruit (primarily protein - meat, fish, eggs, cheese, yogurt, etc., and smaller quantities of vegetables and fruit). I still drink two Premier Protein shakes a day as mid-morning and mid-afternoon snacks, which…

Hi, I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this. I've had a lap band for about 8 years and have never had an issue with it. Over the past month I am burping all of the time, no acid just burping. It doesn't seem to matter if I've eaten or not. I went to the doc last week and had an upper GI done and he said the band hasn't slipped and there is no hernia. He's not really sure what the issue is right now. Next step is a endoscopy. I was just wondering if anyone has ever had similar symptoms and if they found out what the cause was? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Well tomorrow will be my 6 moth anniversary since my RNY surgery. I have my 6 month surgeon check up on Monday. I am excited to see what he has to say. On my home scale I am 6 pounds from the surgeons goal weight for me. Also, my surgeons office does a thing called Baripals that pairs up someone at least 6 month post op with someone who doesn't have a good support group to help them through the preop through post op processes. I now officially have two Baripals to help.

I'm pissed! I have gained 6 lbs this week.. and 2lbs between yesterday and today. The only difference is that I am now on a regular diet (minus raw fruit/veg) so I am eating chicken, I tried some pork this week, some steak and my protein shakes. This is what a regular day looks like Am: quest protein 1 scoop, 8 oz fat free Fairlife milk 180 cals, 33g protein Lunch: 1.5 oz baked chicken breast 40 cals, 10 G protein (sometimes I'll have 1 oz of broccoli) Dinner: 1 oz flank steak/ 1 oz broccoli: 60 cals, 9 G protein -or- Another protein shake 33g protein, 180 cals Looking at this now I may not be having enough calories ( my nut hasn't mentioned how much I am supposed to be…

Despite my size/weight I am very physically active. I go to Crossift 4 x's a week (and have for almost 2 years) and I've ran in several mud run/obstacle course races. I have one scheduled (paid for, no refund) 2w3d after my sleeve surgery. My surgeon said he will most likely release me for exercise at my 2 week check up and he doesn't see why I can't do the race. I'm just curious how most of you were feeling 2 weeks out. I'm wondering if I should just forget the money wasted and get it in my head now that I'm not doing the race. My husband said he'll walk the course with me and I don't have to do any obstacles, I can walk around them. I have done this race for the la…

Hello All, I had RNY gastric bypass on 04/24/2015. So I am about 2 or 3 weeks post op. Tonight I think I took to large of a bite or didn't chew it well enough, and I felt like it was stuck in my chest. I was able to get the food to go down with some fluid. I am concerned that too large of a bite and the fluids can stretch my pouch/stoma. Even though this has only happened once is it a possibility to stretch them? Any help would be great
