Just left my surgeons office and i am down 25 lbs. he only needed me to lose 15 lbs so that is great news, I have been on the pre-op liquid diet for a week now and surgery is scheduled for November 2nd!! Yeah!!! He said I have done great and said that the night before surgery he wants me to have Pasta with red sauce (just a small amount)! I asked if it was a joke, he said he wants me to have some carb storage before since I will be on Clear liquids for days after. Anyone else had this option? Of course I have to eat before 7pm that night but what a surprise, feeling great and excited!

  10. Hello all. I received my insurance approval and an aiming to have surgery this month. My husband is aware of the surgery but he has NO idea how much I weigh. Yes, he could very well have an idea but I've never discussed it with him. He's 160 pounds or so and has never dealt with being overweight. My thought is that I will tell him my starting weight once I lose a lot of weight. Has anyone dealt with not telling their spouse? I know he'll be accepting of it but I still can't bring myself to tell him.

Hi everyone, I stumbled across this forum in doing my research, I have pretty much made up my mind about having WLS and I have decided that I think I prefer the gastric sleeve. Any thoughts on that?? I am terrified, and ready lol. I go to see my PCP tomorrow 11/7 to talk to her about getting the ball rolling. I am interested in hearing people's stories from the beginning of their journey. Why you decided to have WLS, why you chose the type of WLS you did. And I want to hear about the good, bad, and the ugly. Any information, tips, thing that "you wish you knew before surgery" tips, just as much information as you are prepared to give me lol. my name is Ali, some of m…

So you know this post has no purpose. It’s me venting to people I don’t know so I can say anything which is a amazing because I’ve been pretty quiet at home ( Cant scare my hubby). So my surgery is tomorrow and I’m defiantly nervous.. How much pain am I going to be in ... ? Is this really going to help us get pregnant in the end?? Am I going to be more obsessed with my looks then with the whole reason I’m doing this in the first place? Am I going to maintain a healthy weight After surgery? Will I even get to a healthy weight !? I feel like my head is going to explode. Then the darker things like are people going to say I took the easy way? I’m so sick of people in gene…

I'm so sick of waiting. Over the whole situation. I am completely done with EVERYTHING. But the stupid sleep study place keeps pushing me back, and putting me off like I'm not important. I've waited a month to hear back about something that was supposed to take a week tops, I've had to call them MULTIPLE times for them to say the same thing. "You should've heard from us by now" well I haven't. And y'all continue saying the same crap. Now they have to get in contact with my insurance again, to "extreme authorization" because the lab is completely booked for awhile. I just want my surgery. I just want to start living life. We did everything they asked us to do. Even the stuff our insurance didn't require. Six months of physician supervised weight loss? Done. Stress test? EKG? Done and done. Pulmonary consult? Done. Psychiatric evaluation? We're officially sane enough for surgery. My wife and I are both trying to get the surgery. We had hoped to space it about a month apart, so one of us would be healed up enough to take care of our toddler by the time the other went under the knife. I've gone first, about a month ahead of her. All along the way, we collected the documentation from these visits, scanned it in and forwarded it to the staff member at Peachtree Surgical and Bariatri…

I do have a cardiologist appt wed, so I assume they will submit paper work after that visit. It's just hitting me how quickly this time has gone by! I am sure a lot of you have gone through this stage- should I do it? Am I ready? Etc etc. eeeeeeeeeeek. Trying to stay calm and positive. I feel I am ready. I have read and researched like crazy. Hello everyone! This is actually my first posting but I have been part of this community for a few months now. I attended my first seminar in May, met with the surgeon for the first time in August, and completed my supervised diet plan from August-October. The surgeon submitted my file to insurance on 10/31 and I was approved on 11/04! It has been a very seamless process for me and I consider myself lucky after reading some of the posts . I am calling the surgeon on Monday to be proactive and since it only takes 1-2 weeks for surgery (based on his schedule) once you are approved for insurance, I am hoping to get sleeved around the 16th. My question surrounds the liqu…

I was put on a 3 week diet and I am on day 11 and this has been the hardest thing mentally I have ever experienced. I have lost 17 pounds so far! I have had some weak moments though. I was starving and I just couldn't drink another Protein drink so I ate some broccoli. I know I'm halfway there but another week and a half seems so long. I never really realized the true relationship I had with food until now. I know that I will be able to eat again but it doesn't feel like it at the moment. Some positives have come from it though. I feel like I have more energy. I don't have that bloated feeling. I also think mentally it has helped even though it has been a struggle. I am g…

Also, has anyone went from like 300 to under 170. My ideal goal is 154lbs. I'm wondering if that's unrealistic and if I should set another goal.

Thursday night I had a miscarriage. I was 7 weeks pregnant and didn't know. I think my body has been through enough for now and surgery is just not something I want to do at this point. I want to say that this liquid diet sucks. Ugh. Everyone around me at work Snacks and eats. I just want to hide for two weeks until surgery. I am just venting because I know you all know how this feels. Also, I am questioning it all. Second guessing myself. Especially, during the holidays. I had to ask my Mom to make me turkey broth for this Thanksgiving. It is going to be rough watching them eat all the yummy food, and I am sipping on broth. Is it truly worth it? Will I be able to ever eat the foods I love again? Someone told me you can't have any sugar or carbs after surgery? Am I not allowed a cheat every once in awhile like on my bday? Feeling frustrated. Hi all! I recently came across this app through my researching and have been reading a ton of super helpful info and thought I'd put myself out there. I'm a 31 y/o Wedding Planner living in the PNW, considering/hoping for getting sleeved. I've struggled with weight all my life and have lost a significant amount (50+ lbs) several times and I always gain it back and then some. I'm now at my highest weight at a BMI of 41.9 and I'm ready for a permanent change and a tool that will help me to accomplish long term success without making myself miserable in the process. I had a checkup w/ my PCP on 10/26 where I told her I have been considering it (and researching for alm…

  39. I just attended the information session last week and have scheduled my first appointment for next week. I'd like to know what factors made you choose the sleeve over the bypass surgery. I know the doctor will tell me ultimately which one would likely give me more success, but it in the end it is my decision. I don't have any major health issues except for fatty liver which is very common when you are overweight. What factors helped in determining your decision? At my last check in, which was 3 out of 6, I was told that I should lose about 5 pounds between each of the remaining appointments. So about 15 pounds total. She said if I do not do this then the surgeon will ask that I lose weight before I will be scheduled for surgery. And I'm not talking about the liquid diet that shrinks your liver type weight loss. She means, just lose weight. Im 250 now (6 pounds lost since I began) so it's not like operating on me will be dangerous due to my weight and after all, Im doing this because I can't lose the weight on my own! I'm a little freaked out about it and I guess I should add that I have feminine issues that make it difficult for …
