Today is day 4 of my new life. I slept so much better at home last night than at the hospital. I had to do the leak test twice and that stuff they have you drink is beyond horrible. I still haven't been hungry at all but eat like I was instructed. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

So I am freaking out about my psych evaluation. I don't know why but I am! It is not until November 16 and I am already driving myself crazy about it. I don't know what to expect or if they will just tell me I need to do more evaluations. What was everyone's visit like? Or what were you freaked out about that did or didn't happen? Any input would be amazing and help ease my mind! Thanks all!

Hello All, I have finished all of my requirements with the exception of 2 NUT visits. My doctor is Dr. Neff and is 2 hours away (he's amazing) however I'm really considering someone closer. I have called a ton of doctors out there and they all tell me they no longer are accepting Horizon NJ health or they just met their quota. If anyone knows of a doctor in North or even Central NJ please advise. Thanks, P

Hello Everyone! I have an initial appointment with the surgical center on Tuesday and have already completed one appointment with a nutritionist and completed my psychological evaluation. I asked the psychologist for reading material suggestions and she gave me hers. I've ordered the book from Amazon. I've been focusing on not drinking with lunch and chewing everything to the point of applesauce. I've also purchased some Protein shakes to try for Breakfast as well as a multi-Vitamin. I've been lurking here for a bit trying to get an idea of what to do with myself for the next six months. I think I would be best served with small changes that accumulate over tim…

I'm 18 years old and strongly considering lap band surgery. I have a relatively low BMI of about 32 with sleep apnea and gastric reflux, which means i will be paying out of pocket for surgery.I have been overweight since the age of 5 and tried countless weight loss techniques, all of which failed. This is not an impulsive decision i'm making, I've been doing research for a very long time and my parents are completely on board. However, being 18 i have some concerns. One of which being scarring. As a young teenager I don't want people knowing I received weight loss surgery...I typically scar pretty easily. I've looked for surgeons that's use the single incision approach bu…

First, how many started with the belly pooch and had a great deal of skin leftover from the weight loss? My doctor thinks I will have some to deal with. Did you get surgery to get rid of it? If yes, was that difficult/expensive? Second, I have D cup breasts and actually kinda like them - how much breast fat did you lose post surgery? I am not letting that worry me or anything, but I have had these my whole adult life and It would be strange to not - you know? Thank you!

Hi all! I am writing this because I am ashamed and embarrassed because I cheated on my liquid diet with several times. Now I've read ppl posts about cheating with fruits or maybe crackers but my ass went the extra mile and ate McD three times. I am completely worried but also wondering if I should even do this. I have 10days left, will my liver shrink enough in time? I've come so far and frankly too far too sabotage it for myself. Please folks give me some words of encouragement. Keep the criticism down to a minimum please.

I've read time and time again how some of us have had to resort to gaining an extra 5-10lbs in order to reach our bmi for insurance requirements. Maybe one day insurance companies will open their eyes and see just how much changes need to be made to their policy for wls approval...but until then let's share our ways of cheating the consultation scale. My bmi is directly borderline, my consultation is March 13th. So yes I may need a way to grab an extra 3-5lbs by then....

At my last Pre-Surgery visit I asked about Gas X. The Nurse Practitioner told me that the Surgeon removes the gas after surgery. I have been reading this forum for a few months now and I see people complaining about the gas pain all the time and to walk to relieve it. Has any one heard of this removal? I have one last pre-op appointment two days before surgery where I actually see the doctor and will ask him then.

Hello friends, I have been here for a while now. In 2009, I had the lap band but like most I had it removed in 2014. I am still diabetic and still have HBP and cholesterol. With the band I had lost only 45 lbs and have regained 15 lbs back. I've always feared having another surgery no matter how bad I've always wanted it. My diabetes is getting worse and I've been put on an additional pill and it's still not controlled. I've finally come to my final decision as I sit here very tearful, to go ahead and have another surgery. I know RNY is better for me, but b/c of my weight (215) I'm choosing the sleeve. I guess it just really hit me today that due to my health I need to d…

Hi everyone I haven't posted in a while but wanted to update you all that I completed all the pre-op necessary insurance stuff and met with my surgeon this morning. They will be submitting my information to insurance in the next few days then the wait begins for the approval process. My insurance company takes awhile to approve (they told me 21 business days when I inquired about it) so at this time if approved I am looking at a mid-November surgery date. It has been a long process but I know some people have longer then what I went thru.

I have about 7 days till my final appointment. I will finally find out when I can get my wls. I am starting to feel nervous. At first I was just ready to start my journey.. Now I will admit I'm scared outta my mind. I've never spend the night in the hospital. But at the same time I'm super excited. I have anxiety which has been pretty well managed but lately it's been at an all time high. Its been hard for me to fall asleep at night. I'm sure it will be late nights like this till its over with. What are some things you all have done to keep calm?
