I'm finished all my pre op duties for my insurance and I'm waiting on the approval! (Yay)!! But I'm in a little dilemma. I haven't told anyone about my surgery except my mom, fiance, and one friend months ago. Did you tell anyone? I don't know why I'm not. I think I may be in denial about needing the surgery and I feel upset I couldn't lose the weight without this tool. Also, I've been up at night trying to figure out what I'm going to tell the people at my work when I have to leave for 1-3 weeks... Just feeling stressed... Spokesman told me normally 15 days so they can review so I probably won't hear anything till the 27th of October. ????????????my surgery date is November 3rd. I know a couple of you said you got your approval right before your surgery date and others got theirs in a week. Wondering why some are approved quicker than others. Again my bmi is over 40 (42 to be EXACT ) I have sleep apnea, arthritis, rls, all pre-certification was complete. Ugh, trying to remain positive and calm but freaking out on the inside Sent fro…

  13. My Nutritionist and Dr's Office requires a 2 week liquid diet pre -op. They make me purchase the Meal Replacement Protein in their office along with the Vitamins. They only give me the choice of Bariatic Advantage and I tried all the flavors and don't like it. I've tried mixing the drink in a shaker cup and different blenders and I hate the consistency. Its too thick and even in the blender it comes out too foamy and still thick. It won't even freeze when I put it in the freezer to try to make it taste better. I've tasted Premier Protein with 30Grams of Protein and I actually like it because it taste better and I can buy it already made. Premier Protein drinks have almost…

I have my surgeon consult on Friday and am both excited and nervous. I have been working with a weigh management clinic for almost a full year now and am ready to move on to the surgical option and change my whole life. I'm ready to get started, but nervous mainly for my family and the actual surgical process and healing. I have question for you all: How long did you all stay in the hospital when you had yours done? My babies are 4, 3, an 2 and it's just my husband at home. No family nearby. It's still a huge weight on my shoulders about how they will manage. When did you return to work? I am a professor, so while I'm on my feet off and on, I don't feel it is …

Hi, Just wondering if anyone can answer my Q. I have gynaecology problems including endometriosis which really needs treated but I've been refused because of my weight the past few years. Just wondering if the 'no stomach surgery for 12 months' includes gynaecology surgery on uterus, ovaries etc. I know it's not the stomach but I just wondered if it's restricted. The closer I get to being done... the more everything gets pushed back. My insurance doesn't cover a home sleep study. So they cancelled my appointment for it tomorrow, and appealed for it to be done in a lab. That can take up to 14 days to be approved. So, unfortunately for me, I am always worried and stressing about something. Hopefully some of you wonderful people can set my nerves at ease. I am on week 8 of my Options Class, which I absolutely love. I started out with a BMI of 41. I am down 8 pounds out of the 11-25 they want me to lose during this program period. So far, I think I am doing okay. Here is my worry... what are the odds that I still get denied by the surgeon? Does anyone have any suggestions when dealing with Kaiser? Thank you in advance!

I had 1st appt with nutritionist today - she said that, of those I'll see (nurse, psych, and her), she is the biggest hurdle for potential surgery patients. I didn't really figure out until after my 1st appt. that my acceptance into the program doesn't mean that I'm accepted for surgery. She said that proper nutrition after surgery can be difficult - and if there are issues pre-surgery, then it's up to her to report whether she thinks a patient is a good candidate for surgery based on how she feels they'll do afterward. I can appreciate this. I won't do this if somebody truly feels it isn't the right thing for me. If I'm not a candidate then I'll have to lose weig…

  44. Hi everybody! I'm relatively new here, so real quick: I'm Cate, 24, and looking at a January '17 surgery. I had my consult today, and will have my initial meeting with the surgeon in a little less than a month! EEK! What were questions YOU asked your NUT and surgeon, that you felt you needed answered before surgery could happen? I know these questions exist, but I'm drawing blanks!
