Hi, I am new to this site and many others. I am trying to look for a sponsor, someone who can point me in the right directions, support me, and help me with questions. I am currently 5'2" and 330 lbs that's a bmi of almost 61... I have tried many diets and have always been the big girl. I have been more than ready to rid of my weight and become an active healthy person, but my weight is holding me back from being active and I am left with surgery. I have even started a gofundme for my surgery because my state doesn't allow weight loss surgery be covered by insurance https://www.gofundme.com/medical-surgery-2w33jxez

Well had part of my revision done, Dr Alvarez couldn't do sleeve because my band had so much damage and a lot of scar tissue, now I can't wait for 4 months to go by to get sleeve done. Was disappointed to not get sleeve at same time but least I'm alive and well. 4 month wait will not kill me. Sent from my VS990 using the BariatricPal App

I was just approved in 1 day, for surgery!!! Love Tricare Prime - South! I go next week for my pre-op class and get my surgery date. I will be having surgery within the next 4 weeks. I had an EGD on Friday, where I had to have my CO2 checked and an EKG. I have an irregular heartbeat and my body doesn't eliminate CO2 like it is supposed to. Two more reasons why I need this weight off for GOOD! I'm so stinkin excited I just can't stand it! WHOO HOO!!!!!

I was scheduled for RNY this coming Thursday, but over the weekend I kept thinking about the VSG option, and the more I thought about it, the more a VSG made sense. So this morning I called the surgeon and asked for a procedure change. Of course they were upset I waited so long and I had to hear about how it messed up their surgery schedule, and they would have to start the whole process over from scratch and the surgery would be postponed for 4 months. In short they made me feel like garbage over the change of heart. Has anyone else had this kind of change of heart and how did it go for them? I certainly feel the VSG is right for me, but I do not want a strained relation…

Hey guys! Hope everyone is enjoying their Friday. Couple quick questions that I'd like anyone's opinion on.. #1- I know there are premade shakes that you can buy at the store, however, I am a busy girl on a budget. I have been making Protein shakes from my Protein powder and soy milk each morning. I will make one drink it immediately and then right before work I will make another one for lunch and have it in the fridge until I am ready for it. Pre-made would be MUCH easier but with saving for being out of work for two weeks (silly me did not elect for short term disability this year) it just isn't doable right now. So, I was wondering if anyone went ahead and premade 5…

Hi everyone, I was just wandering I haven't had surgery yet but I hear of some people getting sick off of certain things, when this happens is it immediate and how long does it last? Is is just vomiting that is the outcome or does it come out the other end too and do you need to be close to a bathroom after eating certain things? Thanks just trying to get myself prepared for anything with this surgery!!! Then maybe I won't so panicked about this whole thing!! Thanks

Question?? I was talking to this lady at the Information desk at the hospital yesterday and she mentioned that she had the sleeve. She also stated she had to after they deducted what the insurance company paid, she had to pay a doctor fee and the rest she had the charity at the hospital pay the rest. Did anyone else have to pay anything once the insurance portion was deducted? If so, how much you had to pay? Sent from my SM-G920P using the BariatricPal App

Greetings all! I'm Ray and I'm on the last few steps before getting ye ol' lap band. Last steps in that I've got a dr, done the weigh ins, and now am waiting to hear from my insurance to find out if I'm approved. I'm happy with the place I'm going, but they are a bit of a machine so I've been doing a bit of the info gathering on my own, hence how I found this forum. So, I guess my question is, seeing as I'm approximately a month out, what are some tips and tricks that worked for you or you wish you knew that helped you prepare for the liquid diet or the surgery it's self? Thanks for any thoughts or such that you would like to share! Sent from my SM-N900V using…

Does anyone take the Barimelt Vitamins? They melt in your mouth and are absorbed instead of being dissolved and absorbed in your stomach and intestines. Has anyone's nutritionist recommended them or said stay away from them? I'm trying to research my best options and get stuff purchased before my surgery date. Thanks in advance for any input! I'm a hair stylist and am concerned about how long it to take off. Just to be safe, I've taken off 3 weeks. I realize everybody's experience is different but I'd love to hear some going back to work experiences. As a stylist, I stand on my feet almost all day. Although I don't lift sacks of concrete all day, it's not sitting at a desk type work. My main concern is shampooing. Any tips on making it through the day. My surgery date is November 15. Hello all! I'm scheduled for a VSG on 10/21 in Celebration FL. I just started my 2 week preop liquid diet. I was due to start 10/7 but hurricane Matthew threw a wrench in that so today was my first day. My only anxiety with the preop diet is that my birthday is on Tuesday and I have no idea how I'm going to get a candle to stand still in my shake [emoji12]! It hasn't been terrible but knowing I have to stay away from all food is rough especially when we decided to go out to eat while wandering around. I did good and only had the small salad I'm allowed. I hope this gets easier[emoji21] . I could use any and all moral support I can get!

So while I realize many of the things I've come to love food and habit wise will become a distant memory once I'm post op.... however.... am I doomed to a life of artificial sweetener forever? I'm not sure that I want to pump my system full of that crap for the rest of my life. This isn't to say that I want to have coke and kool-aid and pie as my diet staples . But things like a little no-sugar added all fruit spread, or a fruit popsicle without added sugar or fake sugar... how can Splenda be "better" for this healthy lifestyle than something sweetened with a pear . I guess my main question is, months down the line, are you still strictly fake sugar or do you rega…

So I am brand new here. I just completed my required 4 months of pre-work, lost the required weight, had all the appointments, done all the tests and studies. Now I am waiting for insurance approval (just submitted this week), on the liquid/vegetable diet for the next four weeks with a planned bypass surgery date of 11/16. I am feeling stressed about the approval, my stomach is aching from the pre-op diet, day five of the diet and no weight-loss .... and feeling a bit hopeless now. I just come from my second surgery consult with a different surgeon. I wanted to check out a couple different surgeons before making a decision about who I wanted go with for surgery. I have a high BMI and want to loose at least 50 pounds before my surgery. I was curious to know how much weight others lost before surgery. My insurance and doctor don't have a requirement.

I had my follow-up for the psych eval and it went well. He said I'm okay but wants me to start counseling to work on my stress eating. To be honest I didn't realize that's what I did! Talking to him today and telling him about the past, well it really hit me. The good thing is, the counselor that specializes in eating disorders that I was seeing, I can start going to her again. I stopped because she didn't take me reimbursable card. BUT now that my Out-of-Pocket has been met I won't have a fee. YAY! I have a follow-up visit with the Psych on December 23rd. I'm really starting to get more and more appts that I have to take off work for. I'm debating on telling my main bos…

The day before surgery I have to take one or the other. I just tried the Lemon flavor of magnesium citrate and it is nasty. Is the grape or berry flavor any better? Does Castor Oil taste better? Can I mix with any thing? The bottle of Magnesium citrate says do not refrigerate.

Hi all, I have an appointment next week with my surgeon's group. We will do several clearances all in one day: the psychiatric clearance, nutritionist clearance, and exercise evaluation. I get the first two, but does anyone else know what to expect from the exercise evaluation? It's not cardiopulmonary clearance, but I'm not sure exactly what it is. Anybody else had to do this?
