I am about 2 months into the program, my insurance requires 6 months and 11 office visits, at least 18 years old, and bmi 40 and had to have been over 40 for 2 years. Has anyone else gone through the whole program and met all the requirements and gotten denied by this insurance? I would be so disappointed! And ive seen posts with other insurances doing that so i was wondering about mine! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

So 3 days into my pre-op diet, surgery Nov 23rd. 800 calories, I know it is my fault for waiting so long to cut smoking out, I quit having them on Tuesday this week, just bought a pack on my way in to work a few moments ago. Had a half of one cuz i felt like throwing up. But I am so weak and shaky. I come home from work and sleep till the next day. No energy and today I just feel like crying. I am not going to throw in the towel but holy crap is this normal?? I know I sound like a wimp, some one just yell at me and shake me out of this. Me just venting.

  16. Started by NJ1980,

Good afternoon Sleevers, I began my journey on September 14, 2016 the day after my birthday. I attended the mandatory class that every Bariatric patient has to go to, I scheduled my appointment with them to meet with the doctor in 2 weeks. In my persistent nature I kept calling them and they were able to see me sooner, I was seen the following week. I met with the wonderful Dr. Neff for the second time (he is amazingly sweet, funny and knows his bariatric business). At this meeting I received a long list of Pre-Screening Requirements that had to be completed. Medical approval from PCP Lab Work (oh the joy! the drama with my veins) Radiology (boy did that juice…

I am looking into getting the gastric sleeve. My bmi is 39.5-39.7 so I do not meet the bmi requirement but I do have preexisting underlying conditions. I have pcos, osteoarthritis in my knees, migraines, acid reflux, fatty liver, mild mitral valve regurgitation, tricuspid valve disorder, and I am getting checked for sleep apnea. I have tried for years to lose weight with healthy eating etc and due to pcos I can't lose weight. Anyways is there anyone who got approved with a bmi under 40 with some of the comorbidities I have? I really want the sleeve surgery but am worried about being denied. I have bcbs California Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

  22. I have been looking into the lap-band procedure since June 2010. I went through the whole process (physicatrist, dietician, wellness) when I found out the my hospital has a max BMI they can operate at. The can't do the Lap band for anyone over 50 BMI. I was then 53. I tried for several months to lose the weight, but nothing worked. I kind of gave up for a while, but then got a call from my surgeon's office in April about where I stood. I told her I couldn't lose the required weight. She had me come in and meet with the bariatric dietician (the first was a general nutritionist). They gave me some pointers and really stressed that I need an exercise routine. So, I…

My date is Dec 14th, which is the exact date I wanted, I even have photographic proof of my handsome doctor I am a teacher. That gives 19 days off of work. I have to miss the last three days before Winter Break, which is fine by me. He did say that I could go home that day, like outpatient. Which seems REALLY weird. I will think about that some more. I would prefer my bed, but I worry about going home after something so major. We. Will. See. Now to find out the final total I owe (I have to pay $5k Out of Pocket PLUS my deductible) and other stuff. Sucks Big Time. Months ago I asked my Dad for a loan and now it is time to put up. So my surgery is November 21st and my fiance and I were sorting through our closet last night and she was telling me to get rid of all the summer clothes, I seriously started to freak out because I guess I am afraid that I will still need them. Kohls had a sale last weekend and I found 2 size 14 jeans that were only 3 bucks, my fiance told me to get them. I am in a size 18 now, but even then I was scared to get them because I am scared that I will still need my 18's. Needless to say she convinced me to get them and I am happy. But how do you all deal with clothes, do you wait until you're out of that size for good before you throw away, have you bought clothes that you wi…

OK so has anyone used plain unsweetened almond milk for the Protein shakes? I can't stand the texture when I make them with Water, it makes me gag. So is it a big deal to use almond milk instead of water ? It's only 30 cal and like 0 fat. So just curious if anyone else used some forms of almond or cashew milk ? So I have an upcoming appointment with my surgeon in 2 weeks before they schedule my surgery. After that they'll call me with my surgery date and I'll have to start my pre-op diet. My pre-op diet consists of 2 weeks of 3 Protein shakes a day and 1 small dinner. Which can consists of 3 oz of meat and veggies or a lean cuisine or smart choice meal. I believe they also want me to start taking my bariatric Vitamins ahead of time. So my question is how much did everyone lose on their pre-op diet. I've heard of people losing like 20-30 pounds alone just on the diet. Any feedback will be greatly appreciated. Also, what kind of Protein Shakes did you use? My doctors o…

So about two years ago, when I started to put on my last 40 pounds. I developed like severe lower back pain. I can't walk long distances without wobbling like a pregnant woman from this pain. My ankles are like in constant pain from carrying this extra weight. Every morning I wake up and wince at the pain, because they're sore from the day prior. I just wanted to see if anyone post- op out there has experienced the same level of pain and discomfort and how are you managing if necessary at all.
