I just finished day 8 of my preop diet and I was terrified of becoming hypoglycemic and starving. I have to say it's been much easier than I ever imagined. I get over 90g of Protein in a day and stay just under 700 calories and all I feel is a slight hunger at times and of course some head hunger, but it's not bad. You got this! You. Can. Do. It! I drink the Whey Isolate protein powders and they have 1g of carbs per scoop. I am taking in less than 10g carbs per day, I would say you just need a better protein powder. Premier Protein is pretty good and found at walmart. Good luck and I hope you get your surgery!
