Thank you both . I'm leaning towards doing it a few days so that I get used to it for pre-op.

I have to do 3 weeks on Optifast as per my surgeons instructions as he wants the liver as small as possible. I look at this as the last diet I'll go on so I am all in....and it will get me used to the

Hello everyone!
This is actually my first posting but I have been part of this community for a few months now. I attended my first seminar in May, met with the surgeon for the first time in August, and completed my supervised diet plan from August-October. The surgeon submitted my file to insurance on 10/31 and I was approved on 11/04! It has been a very seamless process for me and I consider myself lucky after reading some of the posts
. I am calling the surgeon on Monday to be proactive and since it only takes 1-2 weeks for surgery (based on his schedule) once you are approved for insurance, I am hoping to get sleeved around the 16th.
My question surrounds the liquid diet for two weeks before surgery. The surgeon is not making me do a liquid diet because my BMI isn't above 50 (I'm currently at 44-45). I'm seeking feedback on whether you think I should do the liquid diet anyway. My thought it that is may make it easier to do the liquid diet post-op but I'm not sure of other benefits. Thank you all
.
