Howdy all, I hope everyone is well. I am scheduled for gastric bypass on January 13th, 2022. To those that have walked this path before me, do you have any helpful tips to offer me? I am not so concerned about the surgery itself moreover the next few days before/after the surgery. Thank you!

In 2012 I had lab-band surgery. My body hated the band from the start; nothing but problems. I lost about 82 pounds with the band but mainly only due to being unable to eat and vomiting. I developed acid reflux so bad that I slept sitting up for three years. I visited my doctor in 2017 and told him I could not deal with it anymore. He suggested converting to VSG. At the time, the surgery was not known for its acid reflux issues. I was converted in Dec 2017. Acid reflux left, and for one year, I felt normal. However, immediately after the conversion surgery, I never felt restriction. I felt I could eat normally. One year after the conversion, reflux returned. Now with a he…

I am 10weeks post op. I have been strict about measuring my food, getting my protein/vitamins and I workout 4 days a week. I have been stuck at 189 for 3 weeks and I'm feeling like I'm failing. I have been thinking about going back down to 2oz of protein per meal but I'm really trying to avoid unhealthy choices. Idk what to do. I have another 40lbs to my goal and I'm terrified I won't make it [emoji17][emoji17].

However I do have a question......Just recently when I eat, straight after I get all hot, sweaty and shaky and have palpitations almost like a diabetic Hypo(low blood sugar) . However I checked my blood sugar, and it is normal. Am I eating too fast? I have no other symptoms. This is just weird!!! Love & Light

Hi everyone. I had my roux May 2021, I am at goal weight, 90lbs lost. I have stomach pain after every meal and sometimes just drinking water. I take vitamins daily, and get at least 40 g of protein down and about 32oz of water. I can't get past that. The pain is like I'm hungry, yet feel nauseous after I eat and gets worse as the day goes on. My stomach is also very loud and bubbly, I can feel it moving sometimes. I also get calf pain and headaches. I have tried taking prilosec to see if it is acid related, doesnt seem to make a difference. I am without insurance right now, so kinda trying to troubleshoot on my own. Any insight would be great. Thank you.

Hello, I was just wondering something. Anyone with PCOS, GERD, FATTY LIVER all or some of these conditions, what is the most weight that you guys have lost with the gastric bypass? And for anyone who's had the bypass how did you guys prevent excess skin and, did you guys require surgery to fix the excess skin on your body such as: A BBL, TUMMY TUCK, BREAST AUGUMATAION? Hopefully, my surgery date will be in April/May because I have to get an endoscopy and I'm super excited but nervous at the same time about my surgery. And my main concern is I had an allergic reaction to my birth control in 2019 so I was just wondering what type of conceperati…

I had another endoscopy yesterday and the GERD hasn't gotten any better. At least the 2 ulcers have healed though. The doctor who did the scope yesterday recommends surgical intervention for the GERD. I can't expect her to know my medical history so she probably doesn't know surgery is already scheduled for March 1st. Hiatal hernia repair and revision of sleeve to bypass. 30 days!!

Hi, I am new here. I think I want to go with the gastric bypass VS the sleeve. The more I read about the gastric bypass and here of malnutrition because of lack of absorption makes me think it may not be the best option. What are your pros and cons? Do you regret the gastric bypass? What did you wish you knew before you chose the gastric bypass? Thank you you in advance!

Hi I am almost two weeks post op for a gastric bypass and have woken up with awful hives all over me. So irritating. I think I was allergic to the dressings but wonder if anyone else has had this? I also have woken up with I lump like feeling in my chest, a bit like when you have eaten too much but I obviously haven’t as I’m still on liquids and it started before I have even drunk anything. Any ideas? Thanks ?

So I’m starting to add more substantial things to my diet. My NUT said in the full liquid stage I could have cottage cheese (1% or skin milk small curd) or sugar free pudding as well. I tried a small portion of cottage cheese tonight, about two tablespoons because it looked like a lot, to start with, and I’m not full. Which is okay! I’m not hungry, but everything I’ve read said that your new tum will let you eat till you feel full and then not a bite more, but I don’t really want to push my still healing stomach. What do you do with that?

Hi Peeps, I had my Gastric bypass (RnY) on Aug 17. My stats are as follows. SW: 302 lbs Height: 169 cm. CW: 227 lbs. Total lost: 75 lbs Exercise: Walking 10km daily However, I'm feeling I'm not losing fast enough. Plus I've fallen off track with the festival season...been gorging on sweets, cakes and food. Just lost 8 pounds since November 15th. I'm worried that I'm going to ruin this. Any tips on how to lose faster as well as break this food addiction...can't seem to stop eating and feeling guilty after. Would really appreciate the help. Please help guys! …

Hey! I'm scheduled for surgery (gastric bypass) in February. I've been relying on protein shakes and some ketogenic friendly sweeteners as meal replacements to get use to drinking my calories instead of eating them. I wanna know if you've tried any of these ingredients post op and how they made you feel: - Vanilla premier protein - unsweetened cocoa powder - Swerve sugar replacement - blended strawberry, blackberries and blueberries (no added sugar) -Isopure unflavored powder -unsweetened almond milk -black beans (not in smoothies, just in general, mashed) Thanks! Happy New Year to you all

Is there anyone who has had gastric bypass and has dreadlocks???? I am doing a lot of my end to try and combat hair loss as best as I can. Making sure I’m getting my protein in, other supplements, and collagen, etc. I know hair loss is a part of the surgery but I’m doing what I can to minimize it when I get to that point. I am only 3 weeks ends right now. My dreadlocks fall between the middle of my back and my “bottom.” I was wondering since our hair doesn’t require a lot of manipulation if the hair loss is the same of us. I just wash my hair and keep it up in a bun yo lessen the manipulation. I saw one YouTube say she didn’t lose her locs but she lost her edges. I know e…

I got a surgery date November 1, 2021- Gastric Bypass! I was originally scheduled for October 13, 2021. But during my EGD they thought I had Gastroparesis. So surgery was postponed until after I had a Gastric Emptying study. Now that test is complete, I don't have Gastroparesis, I instead I'm supposed to have Dumping Syndrome. I am a type 2 diabetic. I am just glad that is all behind me, I now can continue to move forward.

Well, 3 months have gone by since my surgery and I wanted to throw a little bit of what's been happening out there. At surgery I weighed 292 lbs, this morning I weighed 230 lbs. Happy New Year to me!! In July I was 317 lbs, most I will ever weigh. I haven't had alot of issues so far. I'm hoping that trend continues into the New Year and beyond! I look forward to reading posts on this site. It has really helped me through all of this! I stalk more than I talk so, with that in mind, Happy New Year everyone and congratulations on your personal victories! This site is full of amazing people.

I am a week post op. Since surgery I have had such a gross taste in my mouth. I thought it was taking orally dissolvable medication. Then I tight it was the lack of food variety? I have been brushing my teeth, flossing, using a tongue scraper (my tongue has been very coated). It isn't oral thrush, I've checked. My breath is rank. Is this normal? Will it improve? Please tell me it will as my food intake returns to normal ?

My health is in the toilet, and I desperately need help and advice. RNY summer 2019, goal met in 2020, happy, maintained/healthy/active for a long while. I'm 51F btw. But since roughly March of this year I've unintentionally lost at least 50lbs while eating exact same nutrients/calories/macros/etc as my maintenance diet. I even started adding calories to try to stop it, bc my face looked awful/old. My BMI is now underweight and I look awful and ill. Also in March, the pain started. I had NO pain or issues from surgery 2019 all the way until March this year. It started as occasional lower right side abdominal pain, like a burning, hot coal sensation. Maybe 1 x a week.…
