Hi guys, I did it. I’m one day post op bypass and still in hospital. I have severe stomach and back pain (cramps in the back) I can’t walk without behind hunched over or lie on my side. Whenever I talk medicine or food or water the pain gets worse and my stomach gurgles making me feel like I’m about to have explosive diahorrea. How was everyone else’s experience post op one day? What shall I do?

Hi everyone. I had gastric bypass on September 28 and so far, things are great. I'm down 31 lbs., I feel fantastic and I've already been able to eliminate some medications. Here's my question... I was very constipated after surgery (which I know is to be expected) and had only gone 2 or 3 times in 3 weeks, even when using benefiber every morning and evening. After discussing with my doctor, I started fiber chews at twice the normal dose (2 chews twice a day) until things started moving normally, and two days ago knocked it back to 1 chew twice a day. Now, my poops are regular (usually once a day) but I'm concerned that they are very light colored and they float. I've…

Hi my surgery is tomorrow abs I’m terrified my liver hasn’t shrunk. I started the 1/10/21 for the 20th but my date got cancelled so I went of the diet fir one day. I also had a few slips ups before. They gave me a new date the 25th and I’ve been on the diet as strict as possible although I did have another slip up. Since starting the diet I have gone from 117kg to 109/110kg and I’ve been eating according to the diet recently but I’m still terrified it’s not shrunk. What shall I do

  5. I had a Roux en Y procedure done in 2010 and lost about 85 lbs total. Over the years I've maintained my weight pretty well but during this past 6 months I've gone off the rails. I'm not sure if Covid stress finally caught up to me or my new meds are the culprit, but if anyone has any advice, good words, etc... I could use them. Thanks

Hi Everyone, I had RNY surgery on Oct, 13th, 2020, so I am just over the 12 month post op mark. I notice my weight loss has slowed down a lot, and around the 8-9 month post op mark, I have stalled and I am not loosing any weight. I know this is normal but still worried that my body has reached it's set point. If anyone here has experienced this, let me know. I seem to have gained a pound each month and my weight is back up to the weight it was when I was at 9 months post op. I have lost 100lbs since surgery, but still have around 60 lbs. to go to reach my goal weight. Should I be worried? ( I will be speaking to my Bariatric clinic soon for my 1 year appointment so I wil…

1 week from today I have my surgery! I can't believe I actually went through with this program let alone and 1 week from surgery. It's for sure the hardest thing I have ever done. I met with anesthesia on Monday and am meeting with my surgeon tomorrow. I'm down 21 pounds on the liquid diet (I did 3 weeks) and I can't believe it. I have wanted to cheat so many times, last night I sat on my couch and stared at the phone number for my favorite pizza place but I put it down and preoccupied myself with other things. I am determined to make this work. Anyone else in the home stretch?

Hi I had surgery the 18th of Aug and I have so many regrets, I should've never went through with it. I take 2 bites and I'm sick as a dog for hours... does it ever get better? I have been so depressed from all the sickness. [emoji19] I am still on pureed stage but take 2 small bites and I'm done then I don't eat anymore because I'm too sick.

Hello I’m new on here, I had my gastric bypass surgery on the 13th of September and I just wanted to know how and when people with the same surgery started introducing actual foods (not soft foods) into their diets and how that went for them. I know a lot of doctors have different ways of how they go about the stages and mines told me to stay on soft foods for 3-6 weeks so I just want to know what I would be looking forward to when I do start to eat solid foods in November. Thank you!

Hi Peeps, I had my Gastric bypass (RnY) on Aug 17. My stats are as follows. SW: 302 lbs Height: 169 cm. CW: 246 lbs. Total lost: 56 lbs Exercise: Walking 10km daily However, I'm feeling I'm not losing fast enough, my dietitian thinks I should be losing about 4 lbs a week. I'm worried that I'm going to ruin this. Any tips on how to lose faster. Would really appreciate the help. Thank you.

Good morning! This is my first post here, but I have been "lurking" for a while. ? I had my RNY 3/17/2021 (HW 367, SW 349) and did GREAT for the first 3 months (down to 292.6). Around month 4 I noticed I could eat much more and when boredom hit, I would munch on snacks. I started eating "around" my surgery. Slider foods mostly. I hit my protein goals and water goals daily, but I have realized that I am a stress and emotional eater. In my program, we have a doctor, nutritionist, and a surgeon. I spoke with the nutritionist and the doctor about my habits and how I caused my own stalls. They were quite understanding and even offered to start a medication to control the…

  15. Hey, Just reaching out to the community for some support. I've recently been approved for gastric bypass after going through 4 months of supervised diet and mental health counseling. I can basically get my surgery as soon as possible after completing my EKG and endoscopy (Dr's words). When they went over the gastric bypass procedure with me and all the complications, deficiencies and how strict the diet is (no fresh vegetables for a while which is what I've heavily been relying on to lose weight and enjoy it too) I was almost knocked down to my old feelings of hopelessness. The truth is, hearing all of that terrified me. It scares me and makes me think that there are so …

  16. All I have to say is I am failing miserably in my pre-op liver shrinking diet. I think is anxiety my mind playing tricks tell me you won’t to be able to like before. Kinda insane I think ? anyone else has had this issue????

  17. Hey! For those of you who are or were avid chefs/home cooks how did weight loss surgery change that for you? How did it change exploring new recipes? Grocery lists? Not being able to make or eat certain things? I'm also quite scared of this. I love cooking, cook all my meals, am working on a cookbook, make food for people all the time. I've lost 25 lbs and just got approved for surgery. Having trouble understanding how my relationship with my love of cooking is going to change over time. I know I won't be able to cook and eat much the first year, what about after that?

I literally posted about this a couple weeks ago. I was worried that with surging covid cases, they would shut down the elective surgeries again. My surgery was scheduled for tomorrow. This morning about 10 am, the nurses called me to give me instructions for pre-surgery. Then they called me at noon to tell me they were canceling me. The worst part is that my husband lost his job, and I’m losing my insurance. This isn’t going to happen for me. I’m devastated. I’ve been crying since they told me. I don’t even know what I’m supposed to do now. I’ve been on liquids for a week. I just feel like.... I have jumped through every one of the hoops for this insurance. I waited …

I’m 5 weeks post op and I’m losing weight at a fairly good clip. Question: when the doctor says you should expect to lose 75% of the total amount you need to lose (or whatever the percentage is) from the surgery, should you expect that to happen continuously? Or will should I expect to hit a plateau before the 75%? Does that make any sense?

  25. Total Scale Victory and Random Observations: I now have lost more than I weigh. I have lost 190 lbs. from my highest weight of 374. The first 50 was using Victoza for Type 2 diabetes. My bariatric program has my starting weight as 343. SW=325. CW=185. My program doesn’t give goal weights. For my own satisfaction, 174 would give me a normal BMI. I’d like to end about 170 knowing that some gain/loss is possible as things settle. I’m 5’10”. I have gone from a size 30/32 to a 14. I haven’t been this size since early high school. I look forward to doing things rather than dreading them. I’ve been off all diabetes meds since surgery. I am still using my CPAP altho…

Hi all. I had gastric bypass last week on Sept 28. Surgery went well but I had one very bad day/night of nausea so I'm already basically a day behind. I'm in need of some encouragement that it gets better. When do I feel "normal" again? I understand there will be pain and my nausea seems unusually high but I can deal with it. But is it normal to constantly feel gurgling and movement (for lack of a better word) in my new stomach? Water tastes terrible... I have a hard time getting down the vitamins and protein shakes. I've only lost about 4 lbs. I feel like I'm far behind where I should be. I have my follow up appointment tomorrow so maybe they will be able to set my…

Hi I'm due to have a bypass on Wednesday morning. I'm really tearful and stressed. Is it lack of food? I keep thinking what if it doesn't work. I live in Spain and have paid to have it done as it's not covered in the health care here nd cost a lot of money. I desperately want it but scared it will fail even tho my rather handsome (bonus) surgeon assures me it wont. I'm worried about recovery and not being able to eat. Am I just driving myself and with anxiety? Am I just being a stupid nearly 50 year old woman. Sorry Xxx

Hi guys and girls Jenn here and I'm looking for some advice. As the title states I am 2 weeks post op and I have a bit of a stall. I'm not sure if its because I can't get anything but soup and yoghurt in or that I'm constipated all the time. I'm also struggling with my water intake, I'm managing around 1 liter a day plus the soup and yoghurt, oh and the occasional popsicle Any advice would be great

Yesterday I experienced DUMPING - DUN DUN DUN DUNNNNNNN. I had nausea, pain, high heart rate, cold sweats, and i threw up (water since i am still in my full liquid phase) I was wondering why i wasn't feeling well and it was because i had drank too much, too fast, too often! (supposed to be an one ounce every 10-15 MIN) Which in my defense, in the beginning i could drink as much as i wanted. With the exception of a little soreness going down but i never had the 'full' sensation until this morning. So i more than likely over did it. Today i am so much better

I am 6 weeks post op and I had a mini gastric bypass. At this point am supposed to be able to eat everything but if I eat I spoon of something or the smallest amounts I get the worst chest pain and I immediately need to vomit! From the first bite I can feel the “foamy” coming up and it makes me more nauseous. I chew till my jaw cracks and I eat with a kids spoon so I dont know what to do tbh. I am so scared that I’ll be like that forever and wont be able to eat properly again! ( I can easily keep down liquids. Ice water is my best friend atm cause it help with the nausea a lot ). Please let me know if you’ve been through this or know what would help.

I’ve been attempting to get my 64OZ of water in, along with my protein. However yesterday and today that seemed to be impossible! The Premier protein shakes are making me feel sick on top of the internal muscle / suture pain I have on my right side I just feel like crying. Please tell me there is a light at the end of the tunnel.

Hi all I’ve completed all the insurance requirements and waiting for clearance and surgery date. Doctor thinks it will be before Thanksgiving so mentally preparing for it. I’m single and live alone with no family nearby. Need advice on what type of support will I need once I come home. Can you do it alone? Thinking about getting a visiting nurse care - is that needed? Just looking for personal experience and if you think you could have done it alone if you had to. My bedroom is upstairs so also thinking if it make sense to setup a bed in living room for a few days. Thanks for guidance in this.

The learning curve is steep for me this time around. I was revised from VSG to bypass recently. I really have to watch the size of my bites now, it has to be really super super suuuper tiny or I risk feeling plugged or get pressure in my throat. If I do that, I'm good to go. I know that as time goes on, I'll be able to eat more at one sitting (I fear that actually lol) but those of you who are further out, do the size of the bites also change? No complaints here, I'm so glad I did this but I'm curious how things will change with time. Thanks in advance.

I had gastric bypass surgery on August 24. It’s just over a month later and I’m feeling like my Cymbalta is not working. I’ve noticed I have been feeling depressed which I initially just attributed to the surgery but now I’m wondering if my body is even absorbing the medicine like it should. I did not have any problems with the dosage prior to surgery.

Hi! Any marathon runners out there? What is your hydration strategy? What is your fueling strategy? I am 2 years out and my long run now is at 15 miles. I have run with and without gatorade chews. Not sure if I feel a difference or not when I ate some chews. I have no issues eating sugar (not sure why). Thank you!

Did anyone need to do 3 months of physical therapy to get their breast reduction surgery approved? I know some insurance wants it to see if PT helps the back problems. I know rashes, split skin, etc. will also get approvals. I would like to hear from only people who needed this approval done and what their experience was. Thank you.

My starting weight was 252, surgery weight was 243, and I’ve been stuck at 197 for a month almost. Honestly I’ve only lost 17 lbs in the past like 2 months. I’m 3 months post op and I’m so frustrated. I get about 90-115g of protein a day, my job is very active… I’m so frustrated. I’m starting to worry that this is all the weight I’ll lose. Does anyone have any advice? I’m so scared I’m doing something wrong or that my surgery is just failing.
