November 2021 surgeries

I got a surgery date November 1, 2021- Gastric Bypass! I was originally scheduled for October 13, 2021. But during my EGD they thought I had Gastroparesis. So surgery was postponed until after I had a Gastric Emptying study. Now that test is complete, I don't have Gastroparesis, I instead I'm supposed to have Dumping Syndrome. I am a type 2 diabetic. I am just glad that is all behind me, I now can continue to move forward.

@Misnomer awesome!! Do you have to do 2 days of liquid diet before surgery? I'm on day 6 of low carb pre op diet. I start liquid Sunday.

My program refers to the entire 2-week thing as a "liquid diet," but part of the plan is a protein bar every day plus either a banana or 8oz of low-fat milk (for potassium). It becomes strictly liquid-only 2 days before surgery, though. For me, that will happen on Saturday. I love bananas, so that was an easy choice at first, but right now I'm desperate for any variety so I'll be switching to 1% milk this week. :) And they only provided 12 protein bars to begin with (smart bariatric center!), so I won't have to remember to stop eating them. I have my pre-op nutritionist appointment tomorrow morning, and Wednesday morning is the pre-op with my surgeon. I have a feeling this week will go by really fast!!

@misnomer My Preop diet is just low carb low cal. I'm kinda grateful. My pre op appointments are on Friday. Im hoping the week goes by very quickly!

I am 11 days out from my RNY and back to work. I feel amazing. The first three days sucked, but after that, I am ready to go to war again. This show will continue rolling!

Good to hear; I’m planning to go back to work (from home) a week after surgery!

I would refer to your doctor or dietiican, but I drank 2-3 premier protein drinks a day, broth, V8, a lot of water.

This is my first time coming across this site!

Date set for November 22nd (5 days!!) and starting to get nervous!

And my willpower has not been great as far as my 7-day protien shake/liquid only diet. Today was my first really good day as far as that goes.

Half of November is done with their surgeries? Hope you're all doing great!!

*also the orange cream Bariatric Advantage vitamins are the highlight of my day, lol!!
