So I've only lost 10 pounds in 3 months. I'm supper slow at losing but I have bit been eating enough the Dr said. So I'll try to eat more. I am able to. I just thought at 7 months only eat 700 calories. He said 1000. Wow.. With that being Said my loss since Nov has only been 56 pounds. But happy to lose it! Thr oddest thing is my body feels heavier, like it was before I lost weight

  3. I had terrible pain about a month ago. Barely ate a thing, cramping, bloating, constipation. I was in agony. Surgeon thought it was an ulcer so he put me on carafate. In the meantime my gastro sent me for an endoscopy. That came back all good with mild inflammation in intestine. Still wanting to be certain nothing major was wrong, I asked my surgeon to send me for a sonogram and catscan. Sono came back with a fluid cystic like structure near the liver. My cat scan came back yesterday and it shows the fluid next to the liver but it also showed thickening of the intestine with possible telescope / intussusception. After everything I read about this, I'm so afraid. I have …

I had a RNY over 4 years ago. For the last 6 months I have been very nauseous most days. Somedays I can’t do much. It’s not anyone thing like the smell of food or what I eat. I have been to my PCP, a Gastrologist & a naturopath. No one can figure anything out. I have had a barium swallow test & an EDG. Everything looks normal. I’m not comfortable going back to my surgeon because he’s not a bariatric surgeon. I had the surgery for medical reasons not related to obesity. He told me to get all my info from the internet. I don’t think he knows how much different info is on the internet for gastric bypass! Has this happened to anyone else? If so what w…

I officially hit 2 months post-op Saturday. Just a few fun shares. I have lost 48 lbs since surgery!!! (84 total) I had to move my the seat up in my truck. My knees do not grind as I walk up steps anymore. My blood pressure is on the LOW side of perfect. All of my clothes are too big, way too big. My shoes are loose/roomier. I am so amazed at how quickly our bodies change. But, what amazes me the most is how we (at least me) don't even notice as it slowly changes for the worse but EVERY SINGLE TINY thing stands out when it is changing for the better. I had 2 cookouts this weekend and it didn't even phase me. At my family cookout, I made avocad…

Anyone try these shakes? They're a bit more caloric than the ones I usually drink (230 vs. 170) but I recently tried their 26 gram protein shakes and realllyyy liked them because they just taste like normal flavored milk. I want to try the 42-gram protein one. There are 8 grams of sugar in each shake which is approved by my dietician. I just don't want to buy a whole case and hate it. Does it taste like milk or have that weird, gross, artificially sweet, protein taste?

Going on my first post op date. I haven't dated in 2 years. I am already picturing all the weird things I have to do around food with him. He offered to cook me a pasta dinner and I had to say no LOL so we're going to a smoothie place instead. I looked up the menu and they have unsweetened tea and coffees so I'll be fine but omg how does one explain it? Anyway, wish me luck! And feel free to share your post op date stories too

  17. Hey! I was curious if anyone is experiencing this or has experienced this in the past. I'm a little over 3 months post op and as I transition more into regular eating, I find that I CANNOT eat in the mornings to early afternoon. Like my body can't physically handle food until around 2pm. If I eat something before then it gets "stuck" or I get the slimeee and need to puke. Doesn't matter what it is, I try eggs, protein yogurt, beans, cheese, veggies, fruit, all of it gets stuck and I get nauseous for an hour or so. This has been a recent development...maybe the past month this has started. It's not a stricture because past 2 I have no issues regardless of what the food is…

Today is my three month anniversary. I can now eat solids! Doing ok, still rare occasional foamies, to avoid it I now watch the second hand on the clock and time each bite. Lost 52 pounds, mostly everywhere but my stubborn tummy. What I’m looking forward to is being to eat salad. Anyone out there have any problems with lettuce? I’m a little nervous about it as it seems like it might be hard to digest. Also every time I try something new I get nauseous after the first bite, then after a few minutes it goes away. Then after that if I eat the new thing again it doesn’t happen. It’s almost like my stomach is deciding if it wants to accept or reject a new food. Any one experie…

Hi all: I’m hanging out in June SB because I am hoping against hope that my surgery date is mid June. My Results visit is 5/16 and I hope to get the date at that visit. Cigna has had my insurance packet for 1 week. Doctor’s office says they take 2 weeks to study it. I began the liver shrinking diet on Tuesday, 5/3 (per doctors office) and I’m down 6 lbs which is nothing short of a miracle for me. A typical eating plan in a day is 2 Atkins Plus shakes, 1 or 2 Oikos yogurts, an Aldi Shrimp meal (140 calories), 64oz water and sugar free ice pops. I WAS hungry on Day 4-yesterday- but I dropped 2 lbs overnight which explains that. I’m using vitamin patches because they ar…

Hello! Just a short story of how I got here! 8/2012, I underwent the Gastric Sleeve. I went from 230 lbs to 140 lbs. I had a hiatal hernia repair during this surgery in 2012 and again in 2021. Every since I had the sleeve in 2012, I have had reflux. Within the last few years, it has increased, severely. It did a little better when I had the hernia repair in 2021. However the hernia has returned and the GERD is even worse. I wake up quite often gagging on stomach acid. Sometimes waiting to go to bed three hours after my last meal/snack, will help SOMETIMES. A lot of times, I have to sleep sitting up. I am taking Protonix 40 MG twice a day for many many year…

I tried so hard to get myself mentally focused on dieting but it was so hard and hard to get the motivation to do it. So about 3 weeks I was at 290 the biggest I have ever been in my life. I had already seen the a doctor about doing surgery. Which I feel like it was my last solution. But TBH I feel like I’m also taking the easy way out. Does anyone feel like that???? Anyhow so two weeks ago I started my pre op. And it’s been so hard just having one meal a day and the other two meals are replaced by a shake. I also get…

Hello everyone! My Bypass surgery was scheduled FINALLY! May 16 2022. Anyone else in may? Now I’m excited and nervous!

  24. As I'm getting closer to my "goal zone" (in between 220-190) I'm wondering if anyone else who is female and six feet or taller was given a goal weight and what that should be. I distinctly remember my doctor showing me a chart during my initial consultation that put my sex and height at a desirable weight of 160 lbs but then my surgeon quickly said, that's not realistic for my frame/body and that these charts were outdated and inaccurate. He instead said I don't have a goal weight but told me he typically likes to see his patients under a BMI of 30 to reduce co-morbidities with being obese. Since 220 puts me in the "overweight" range, I'm sticking to that as a realis…

Does anyone have any advice on how to get an affordable personal trainer? I'm just broke enough where that's not really in the budget but I want someone to help me develop my muscle groups so badly. Are there any special online websites or gyms you know of? I'm moving to Texas in a month so I'm thinking of starting there.

  28. I finally did it! Back on 19 May 2022 I had my revision surgery from Lapband to RNY Gastric Bypass. So as of today (23 May 2022) it's my 4th day Post Op. Fortunately for me personally I have been able to sip water and other free liquids (soups) etc without any nausea or vomiting. I just have to work toward, to eventually get all the daily protein and fliuds into my body per day - aim to have each meal "pack a punch" nutritionally. I'm definitely adding my Tasteless Protein & Tasteless Fibre into my liquids, as I certainly do not want to experience any constipation. I know what that's like, from past experience many years ago. I'm not going to bother about jump…

I am always coughing and gagging, sneezing, my throat always hurts. I have been coughing so much my chest hurts. It is miserable! I talked to my doctor he said since I was COVID NEGATIVE that it seems like allergies. Told me to start taking Flonase and then let him know if it doesn't help. Seriously! Is this a coincidence?? Stuff Just Hit the Fan I had my RYGB last August, 2021, and I'm down a good deal of weight and was feeling great! Hi, can I get a little guidance please? I had a gastric bypass 6 months ago. I've lost 4 stone so far. I've recently got back from a holiday (where I lost 6lbs) but since I got back its all gone a bit odd (see pic of weekly weigh in). I don't know if this is all normal or if I'm doing something wrong? Am I panicking over nothing? I've got some epic toilet issues (chronic diarrhoea) that Ive got a referral to gastroenterology for so there is that factor. I am also not overly concerned about protein goals, as directed by my nutritionist as my stomach is struggling with everything at the mo. So I want to know more about this dumping thing. When I was getting ready for surgery my doctor never mentioned anything about it, and none of the information he gave mentioned it either. A couple months before my surgery I started reading about it in forums like this one, and it seems like an awfully major thing to not mention. So I brought it up to the some of my doctor's nurses and all I got was cagey non-answers. So I had the surgery, doing pretty good, getting in the protein and water groove and lost 45 pounds in 5 weeks. BUT I'm sacred to death of dumping and this casts a shadow over trying anything new. I ate 4 cherries the other day because they were so good…

Hello all, I recently asked my PCP if I was a good candidate for gastric bypass and he said yes without hesitation and referred me to their bariatrics. I’m in the bay area so I got a call 2 days later from the South San Francisco staff and they scheduled my first nutrition class and also my appointment with my surgeon. I currently have a BMI of 38 and have no additional health issues and scared about getting denied. Has anyone had luck within the 35-39 BMI range without any cormorbidities? 42. Was just thinking since I have my 3 month post op follow up tomorrow, dreaming of my 1 year post op and the weight I'll lose. I've had, since the beginning of this whole journey, the idea to reward myself with a designer trench coat when I reach my goal weight. I'd ideally like to be 195 lbs but I'm starting with 220 for now because of my doctor's suggestions and recommendations. I think if I'm between 215 and 195 I'd give myself the reward. Anyway, I'm soooo dreaming of buying a designer coat when I reach that weight. Having one of those "imagine" nights. So I wanna know, do you or did you have a big item or thing in mind you wanna (or did) reward yourself with once …

Just curious if anyone else has experienced this? I'm not necessarily upset about the lack of weight loss, but rather concerned since I'm under 450 calories per day and drinking my 64oz water for the most part. It just seems odd to me.

I can drink so much water and take big gulps without any pain. Its like I forgot I even had surgery. Is this normal or not. Thank you.

I have looked up slider foods for a general idea but it is my understanding they can differ from person to person. How do you know if you are eating a slider food? Do you just never get full? Second part: I DO NOT want to dump, as I am sure none of us do. I track everything I eat and keep it low sugar and fat. How do you find your limits? Just slowing increase and hope for the best? Or do you just do your best and if it happens, reevaluate what you ate and learn from it?

  48. Started by fourmonthspreop,

Hey! I'm about one month post op (gastric bypass feb 14). I've only lost about 23 lbs post op. I was at 309 when I went in for surgery. I think my weight was like 314 right after surgery because of all the fluids though. Anyway I'm getting annoyed because I've been in between 287 and 286 for the last 2 weeks. I am eating more calories now but not nearly enough to gain or even stall. I have about 700-800 calories a day right now. Is this normal to stall out so early? I try incorporating exercise in my daily routine but I'm still dealing with a lot of fatigue and lightheadedness from anemia so I feel terrible whenever I really exert myself. Any advice or tips? Thanks!

How they eat, how fast they eat, their giant bites that barely fit into their mouths, their chomping and slurping! It literally turns my stomach. It also gets me so irritated, bad. Like I think about punching them or taking their food and throwing it across the room. I know I have read some people being grossed out by how much people eat, but that doesn't bother me.
