I looked around and I didn’t find an official thread for October GP surgeries. Anyway I’m scheduled for 10/5/2022 ~ Wednesday. I go for my Covid test tomorrow morning. I’m not going to lie…I’m anxious but excited. Who else is having surgery this month? Anyone on the 5th?

I had Gastric Bypass Sept 2016. Started at around 330lb and was able to lose and roughly maintain 100lb weightloss. I also have Hypothyroidism, with new diagnosis of Hashimoto's, and PCOS. My weight has increased MAJORLY since having a Pannilectomy in November 2021. I've tried lowering calories even more, upping protein, engaging in more activity, weightloss medication to suppress appetite. Anything and everything I could think. Ended up consulting with my weight management doctor and we proceeded with a Partial Gastrectomy sinxlce they said there was a TINY sliver of stomach that they could still remove to maintain the pouch integrity. They confirmed my pouch was not str…

Hi all! Wondering wondering if anyone else has gone through this. I had surgery in September on the 15th I lost 20 lb immediately the first two weeks now I'm on week 7 and have not lost any more weight still just the 20 lb from the first two weeks. I am getting enough protein but am having a hard time not getting in too many carbs with it too I don't like protein shakes and I am lucky enough that nothing I've tried so far has irritated my stomach so I can eat anything. I stay away from greasy and high fatty foods and pop and sugar. But I am still getting around 700 to 1200 calories per day I walk like 30 minutes per day if not more. But I am not losing anything. I am so …

Hi!! Brand new to this forum! Was wondering: I had my gastric bypass in December of 2014. I have lost 120ish pounds and have NOT gained back (it's a life change--not a "miracle!' I have a few questions. 1--the past 2-3 years my hemoglobin has dropped to a 7 (January) and 8 (a month ago.) I've been recently referred to a specialist-in which I go on the 20th of this month. Has anyone had this problem? BTW--extremely addicted to Sonic ice!! haha. 2--are gastric bypass patients still supposed to wait 30 minutes after eating to drink anything? I know we had to in the beginning. Asking these questions because my …

I decided over the weekend that I wanted to change my goal weight. haha Not because I want to be skinnier but because I want to lose half of me. I think it would be really exciting and rewarding to myself to know that I have literally lost half of myself. I am 6ft tall, and may never hit it but that's ok. I will try and will be happy even if I don't but I want to try! Does anyone else update their goals for "weird" random reasons other than the actual weight itself?

I underwent a roux en y this morning and have been dosing for most of the day. However, I’m feeling pretty worried because I’ve woken up very hungry. Is that normal? Very worries as hunger reduction / elimination was a major reason i had this surgery. Anyone have a similar experience?

I was due for surgery last September, but due to rise in COVID number jt was canceled and then we moved. I finally got back in the process and it is now scheduled for December 13th! I just bought some protein oatmeal, and noticed it has 12g sugar, so thinking I will have to make my own after surgery? I definitely want tk avoid dumping, and originally thought I could add this as a puree option and soft food.

Hello! Just starting my journey in the new year and wanted to start getting everything together. Did anyone use short term disability for their surgery rather than just take vacation? I have limited vacation days next year so I am trying to weigh my options. I know FMLA is an option but that has no pay, so I was wondering if anyone chose short term disability and what the process was? Thank you!

I'm still fairly newly post-op (2.5 months) and this is the first time I have experienced this and was wondering if anyone had this happen and what can I do about it? Last night around 7:30 I had my dinner which was chicken breast, about 3 oz. I went to bed and when I woke up this morning at 6AM, I immediately had to run to the bathroom and vomitted and a lot of the chicken came up. Some of it was partially digested and some was more intact. What is going on? Why hadn't it moved out of the pouch overnight? Is something wrong?

Good morning! I am still early in my pre-op journey. I have had my meeting with the nutritionist and surgeon but now waiting for my evaluaion with the psychologist. I guess my question is, what are they looking for primarily? I don't have bulimia or any other eating disorder. Is this what they are looking for? Teresa

Hello, I’m 10 days post op. My question is about the cost of the surgery. Are there any self-pay patients out there? I began this process in January of this year. Started with my local hospital and was given a quote of $35,000 which is due to the pre-op requirements such as psych eval, endoscopy, sleep study, etc. I then reached out to a bariatric center about 5 hours away and they quoted me $25,000 and didn’t require the same pre-op items. I went with this program because the doctor has been doing bariatric surgeries for over 25 years. I prepaid the surgeon $4400 and the hospital said I needed to prepay $19,100. A week after getting home, I am n…

Hello everyone, This is my first post. I am having gastric bypass surgery tomorrow 10/19/22 and I am so nervous and excited. I can't believe that the day is almost here. I have been researching WLS for about 5 years and finally started the process about 6 months ago. I am mostly nervous about the mental challenges I will face after the surgery. Any tips for a newbie?

Is this a thing after WLS? I have lost up to 170 lbs before (obviously not nearly as quickly) but never had this problem. I don't know if it is related or what but I keep banging my feet and toes up! Constantly stubbing my toes, took a chunk out of the side of my big toe the other day. I feel like my mind thinks my body is still as big (like it hasn't caught up to my body yet or something) in which my stomach was huge so I knew if my body cleared the area, or in this case the door jam then my feet were safe. Now, my stomach is flat/normal chubby and my feet stick out more? My feet are so banged up either way! My baby pinky toe nail has been fully or parti…

I am having the bypass on Monday Oct. 10th. But I am second guessing it all because of the hair loss. I know it's a common thing that happens with something this traumatic with you body and it happens suddenly. What has anyone done to help the hair loss not be as bad? My hair is super thin as it is and I am just scared it will completely fall out.

Which is working great and I finally have energy again . The problem is I have only lost 20 lbs since my surgery and I feel like I should have lost more by now. I am not able to get in the protien I k ow I need so I'm worried I am failing.

I was at work and walked to the corner store on my lunch break to pick up some food. I got a vegan protein bar by the name of "misfits" because it fit my nutritionists macros for protein bars (15 grams of protein, 1 gram of sugar). I ate my protein bar on the walk back and was amazed at how good it tasted. About 15 minutes after that, I started feeling incredibly hot and dizzy, then the nausea set in. I was sitting at work trying to hold it together but went to the bathroom and realized I felt like I needed to puke so I went back to my coworkers, said I am feeling really sick and ill finish the day from home. Now im home and I tried puking, lots of violent dry heaves but…

I'm 3 days post op. The only thing that hurts is the shoulders. I move around, I drink water, I try to get my protein, my stomach is sore but isn't unbearable. The thing that is unbearable is my shoulders. If it's not the right it's the left or is both. What are some things that helped this and when does it stop??

5 weeks post op and a few situations where vomiting would have helped, feeling miserable for a good 1/2-2 hours, salivating and really nauseous but unable to produce anything other than foam and mucous fluids. Anyone else with the same problem and if so, is this going to last forever?

I’m 5 1/2 weeks post op and really have no problem with any food I’ve tried. I’m able to get in my low protein requirement and stay well below my calorie requirement. I try to bump that up so I’m hitting the low end of my goal, but I am just not able to. However, doing all of this now that I can actually eat real food again is leaving me feeling extremely guilty, as if I’m just gorging. In my mind, I know I’m not, I’m eating well within my plan, but I feel so gross like I used to before surgery when I’d eat crap. On top of this, I’ve hit my first plateau and have only lost 1lb in 2 weeks, which makes me feel even worse. Anyone else feel this horrible guilt? How did you w…

Hey! I'm getting sick of my usual and looking for some new meal idea and snacks. I'm dealing a lot with craving carbohydrates and salt. I'd like to only eat whole foods and complex carbohydrates if I decide to eat them but stick mostly to protein and veggies. I'm a vegetarian but feel free to share with my your meaty meals because I can always modify them and make them veg with tofu and other plant based proteins. I usually eat eggs or a protein shake for breakfast, salads, cheese, crackers and soy products like tofu or Tempeh for dinners and lunch. I ate a lot of chips and barely drank any water this week because of my environment (which I'm about to leave thank god)…

I met with my surgeon a couple weeks ago. I thought I had my mind made up that I was going to do the sleeve but he told me with my hiatal hernia and Gerd that he would only do a gastric bypass. The more I read the posts on here I agree that this is the best option for me. I got my psychologist appt and got some paperwork in the mail to fill out. Many questions about my eating habits. What I eat if I am eating uncontrollably etc. Then in the middle of it a random question if I like to waterski! I laughed out loud! Then later in the questionaire it asked if I like to downhill snow ski at a fast speed. I know they are wondering, if I am a binge eater, bulimic, anorexic …

Hi. I’m new here and I’ve been reading several posts. I’m getting the gastric bypass on 19 October 2022, following removal of the gastric lap band. I am terrified and now I am thinking about cancelling the operation altogether. I am terrified of how things will be to travel and eating, catching up with friends for dinner and a glass of wine and don’t get me started on what I’ve been reading about dumping syndrome! I’m not going into this very lightly and have given it quite a bit of thought but now that the surgery day is almost here (currently doing the pre-op diet) I’m starting to really freak out! I’m from the Australia, Sydney so any help will be …

Hi - 5 weeks post op from Gastric Bypass. I am having bloating in my abdomen and discomfort (feeling full ALOT).. Sometimes I have nausea. I understand this can happen after I eat but this is sometimes when I wake up (10+ hours since eating) I am also struggling to have bowel movements. I took a stool softener every day before surgery to help but I've been told not to take since somedays are mainly diarhea. I am losing weight but worry. Thoughts?

PreSurgery i lost some, then after the surgery ive lost about 30 lbs. And now nothing. Yes, i look at what i eat, and water intake. The scale hasnt moved in months. Not sure it might be because i was a lapband then went to bypass and my body is not letting go. Let me tell ya its frustrating. prior lapband patient band removal 11/18/21 sw 257 surgery date was 1/18/22 because of covid it was rescheduled to 2/1/22

I replied this to a topic of other than the scale, what other victories do you have? As I read all the post of what people are able to do now, that they were not able to do before, I was thinking about what is something I can share? I found that if I had to share one thing it would be impossible because there is countless things that I can list! Though the one thing you have to remember, if you are planning to get a surgery, is that if you are having a hard time with something due to weight and only you know what that is... know that you will be able to do that, and more! This surgery for me has been a fountain of youth. yes, it is hard, yes there will be moments of wor…

Hey all! I’m 5 weeks post op and have been doing great, but I got my teeth cleaned yesterday and haven’t been feeling well since. Usually the dentist is an easy thing for me but this time my body aches and my digestive system is definitely unhappy. My pre-op info did not say anything about the dentist. Has anyone else had experiences like this? Did your info have a timeline for dental cleanings? Thanks, Breanne

So this month's rate of loss has significantly slowed down and I'm not sure that's due to a stall or normal. For August my loss was around 12 lbs and this month it's just 4.4. I have just entered my 6th month since surgery. I'm now yo-yoing within 2 to 4 lbs overall. Is this normal? The amount of calories I take in have increased a slight bit from around 760 to appox. 800-810. Wouldn't I still be losing weight at this point?

I had my consultation yesterday and was able to check off everything required prior to surgery (cardiologist, upper G.I., sleep study, etc.) except the nutritionist appointments and preop lab work. I wanted to ask if anyone was vegetarian or vegan postop and how well you’re doing with it. Also, please feel free to share any recipes or tips!

Does anyone else have a runny nose all the time? My surgery was 18 months ago, and I have had a runny nose ever since. I'm constantly blowing my nose. I had to switch to using a microfiber towel, because it get sore from using tissue. It's more troublesome after I had a very minor surgery on my voice. There were some complications, and I needed a second surgery. Now I can't sing or even speak properly because of constant goop in my voice. I'm always having to clear my throat. Though I wasn't having this problem before the voice surgery, I'm wondering if they're somehow connected. Much of the joy in my life comes from singing, so I really need to get back to…

I'm nearly 2 years post op (bypass) and most foods still make me ill after only a couple of bites. I take small bites, eat slowly etc., not heavy/ greasy food, but yeah. Most food makes me a bit sick and I'm so over it. Like, it's a struggle to remain over 115lbs, which is crazy! (I still have a bunch of skin removal to go too, at least 5lbs worth and my weight ranges between 117 and 125.) I'm putting a call in to my doctor because it just seems a bit weird that I'm still getting nauseated so very often. Keeps me skinny I guess. *sigh* ? Anyone else have this issue?

Hi! I'm 3 weeks out and having a hard time. Where do I start? My energy level is all over the place, mostly low. I'm still on pureed, but not really tolerating much so Eating anything now just feels like a chore. And I've only lost 12 pounds since the surgery (14 pounds before surgery). PLEASE tell me this will get better and I'll be able to enjoy my life again! P.S. I'm not usually this negative, I'm just so frustrated with this process.

This is probably the weirdest post given we all have a goal. To lose weight. I am post gastric sleeve. I have proudly lost 25lbs (and counting) in three weeks. I am doing this for my family and for my health. I was having a lot of health issues due to being obese, and I wanted to enjoy life again. That said, I didn't have body issues prior to the gastric sleeve. I had a "Don't like it don't look" attitude. Proud of my bought and paid for body. 6 years of infertility medications, PCOS, hormonal issues, two pregnancies, the first being with twins. My body was almost like a medal. Now, I'm finding I'm fixated on what will I look like when I reach my goal weight. …

I’m 3 weeks post op and everything as far as eating and drinking is going great. However, I still have significant pain around my left and right lower abdomen. Right around my 2 bigger incision sites. Like when I stand from sitting or when I bend over. It’s very painful & sleeping on my side is still a no go. Is this normal? I’m sure I’m still swollen in there but it almost seems just as bad as my first day. Just wondering if I should bring it up to my doctor or give it more time.

Whelp six months post op tomorrow! I still do not have "hunger" but I find myself more snacky over the last few weeks. It is annoying. I still stay within my plan limits 98% of the time, sometimes going over my calories (within 100) but usually with still healthier snacks and foods. I have been eating out more because life is so crazy and hectic right now, which I need to chill there too. We are going to Florida/Disney the first week of October so I will be forced to eat out then, which is just another reason to stop now. Overall I really don't have any complaints. No issues, and still kicking butt. I see my surgeon for my 6 month check up next week …

THE WEIRDEST STUFF HAS BEEN HAPPENING TO ME AFTER I GOT MY BYPASS OCTOBER 2021 So when I was fresh out of surgery I had a really hard time when I started being able to eat solids, everything I ate made me sick, or I’d feel like something was stuck and just generally uncomfortable and so I had stopped eating because it became unbearable to be sick after every meal, it led to me being hospitalized a week or two for dehydration the doctor told me my body was eating itself (muscle/fat) anything it could to keep me alive and my blood sugar would stay critically low despite them putting sugar in my IV this happened twice (I was admitted on two separate occasions) they did …
