  1. Hi, I am 3 months and 2 days since my gastric sleeve. I try not to weight myself often but keep finding that I do. I know that there will be stalls and slows but I wasn't expecting to lose only 6 lbs in the entire month. I have not been exercising regularly but i have been following everything else: drinking enough water, getting all my protein in, keeping a low carb diet. I realize that i have been not eating much during the day but tend to get my food in the evenings. Could that impact my weight loss? Any help is welcomed!

Hi friends! This is my introductory post. Wondering if anyone else has a similar surgery date, low starting weight, and low goal weight. I’d love to hear how others with similar stats are doing!!! I’m so afraid I’m gonna stop losing! 56 4’11” HW 230 SW 209 CW 167 GW 115 RNY 11/8/22

I had surgery on 2/15/23 and I'm in the liquids phase. These yogurts are helping me with my protein goal along with Fairlife Elite shakes (42g protein). The yogurt flavors I've seen at Target and Stop & Shop include blueberry, strawberry, key lime and coconut. They're about $1.70 ea i think.

Am I the only one going crazy over all the sipping? I’m told drink 1 oz every 15 minutes and take 15 minutes to drink it. That’s a sip every 5 minutes rite? I’m sooooo full! FYI: I gained 1 pound overnight!!! How??

Hi all, had the GB just five days ago and despite a few moments of ‘what the hell have I done’ etc, so far it’s going fine and recovery seems on track. I’ve been working hard on my liquid diet but as a former gulper / big water (or soda) drinker I am finding the little sips such a bore lol! When did everyone start being able to drink more? I’d love to able just to more comfortably get more in. I’m obviously understanding of my need for patience but i would love to learn your experience!

  7. Starting weight: 262lbs Height 5ft Hi all, I'm just over 1 month post-op (Mini bypass). I lost 14lbs on LRD (2 weeks), and since surgery I've lost 19lbs. I've pretty much had stalls throughout this month and I'm so disheartened that the scales aren't shifting much. Literally everyone else I know that's had surgery lost at a fast rate in their first month and meanwhile I'm chugging behind. I healed extremely fast, tolerate anything I'm cleared to eat and drinking as much fluid as I can. I'm also walking more with my dogs and soon to be cleared to go to the gym. I feel hunger still as well, and to be honest drinking water makes it worse for me. …

So I have been around the same weight for a little over a month. Sometimes gaining a pound or two then losing it back. My question is once your weight loss really starts to slow way down like mine did will you continue to lose weight? I am eating around 900 calories per day with 30 minutes of exercise. Is this enough or do I need to revamp my calories down? Thanks

Hello. I am new here. I'm already finding this forum very informative. I have my first initial consult with the bariatric surgeon next week. I know I have to tell my wife and frankly I do not know how she will react. Knowing her she will say I don't need surgery, I just need to stop snacking particularly at night. I really want her support if I decide to have WLS, probably the original gastric bypass. I have struggled with my weight since I was a teenager. I am now 67. I was on the original Atkins in 1971. I have yo-yo dieted many times. I don't think I am morbidly obese and I hide my weight well but my BMI is 37%. I have enjoyed bicycling and at one point about 20 years …

I am 5 weeks post op from gastric bypass. I had surgery November 7th. I have read that lots of people have so much energy but I'm not feeling it. In the last week or so, I have wanted to take a nap most afternoons. Is this normal or am I missing something? I was really looking forward to feeling more motivated to move and do things. TIA!

I am able to eat a bit more than recommended and I’m worried about it. I’m week 3-4 post op and can currently have eggs, toast, tuna etc. a stage let purée. I can eat about a cup and a half of strained soup in a sitting. I can eat a whole egg and a half a piece of toast in a sitting as well. Is this abnormal? Should I be concerned?

Hello All, I had my RYGB surgery on 2/14/23. I am just wondering if anyone else had or has issues with brain fog since surgery? If so how long did it last? The only thing I am taking is OTC Tylenol, my bariatric vitamin, Wellbutrin, Colace, Phillips colon health and just started the actigall today. I am also getting 62+ ozs of liquids in me daily since Sunday.

I finally got a surgery date of Feb. 7th. It has been an interesting journey! I initially went to a doctor to see what could be done for my severe GERD. I have been battling it for about 6 years and I now have a raw throat all of the time. I had a scope done and it showed I also had a hiatal hernia. My doctor referred me to a surgeon. At the meeting with the surgeon he told me that as severe as my hiatal hernia, GERD/reflux is that the best surgery option is gastric bypass. I was a little hesitant but after talking to him for about an hour I understood why this is the best option. After meeting with a nutritionist and getting my psychiatrist eval done I finally got…

The Olympic Peninsula? I'd love someone to talk to, whether you have had the surgery yet or not. Just someone who is on the same journey as me would be fantastic!

Seriously, what is with people of this world. Don't get me wrong, the noticed weight loss and compliments are nice.. to a point. Over the weekend I was at my VFW for a Thanksgiving food drive dropping off some donations and while standing at the corner of the bar talking to a bar tender a guy(who knows me from there and sees me all the time) came up behind me and said "excuse me BIG GUY!" I turned around and said I am a woman. Seriously WTF? My hair was down and it's LONG, I was wearing leggings and a hoodie... I know it was an accident but why "BIG" guy? Hello everyone! Its been quite a long time since I've utilized this site, but I'm itching to get people's opinions on something. Lately, I've been stewing on becoming plant-based, or at least, mostly plant-based. Can this be done as someone who's had WLS? Would it be difficult to meet protein goals? Has anyone on here tried it, or does it? There's a good possibility this question has already been asked on here before, and I just can't find it. But I am curious. Any thoughts on this are appreciated! Thank you.

Hi - everyone everything is going well. I lost 105 lbs and on March 16th I’ll be my one year gastric bypass anniversary. Initially I had a somewhat difficult time eating- went on omeprazole for gastritis issues-it seemed to work. November I went to ER to realize after extensive testing I had a gallbladder attack. In December I had my gallbladder removed. I am doing well now but I am scared because I am hungry at night. Nighttime has always been my downfall. I try to eat well during the day. I work PT 10-2PM M-F and I start the day off with a protein shake - drink water-iced coffee no sugar almond milk-water-snack on either nuts, cheese, yogurt or protein bar. I try to have…

I wonder if I am missing something essential in my diet triggering them, and am curious if anyone found the missing link. I'm just broke enough where that's not really in the budget but I want someone to help me develop my muscle groups so badly. Are there any special online websites or gyms you know of? I'm moving to Texas in a month so I'm thinking of starting there.

Do you miss eating? Like the comfort of it, not in an emotional eating way, just the joy that comes from really good food. I understand the new mindset is to eat for fuel and I'm fully on board with it. But I also have 40 years of programming that is opposite to that way of thinking.

I just got my surgery date for April 1st last friday. Today I went to the doctor because I have been having stomach problems so they ran some test, and I have gastroparesis. It is delayed emptying of the stomach. Basically my food just likes to sit in my stomach and just hang out instead of going where it needs to go causing me to be sick all the time. Has anyone dealt with this and had gastric bypass surgery or just dealt with it period? I get really nervous that it is going to screw up my surgery and I do not want that to happen. They are doing 1 more test just to make sure I dont have a blockage and if that comes back fine, then I will be making a call to the surgeon t…

I had gastric bypass in March last year. For about 3 or 4 months, I have had ridiculous gas pain and discomfort. I thought it was from making bad food choices so I went back to eating the right stuff. It doesn’t matter what I eat or even if I eat, there is still unbelievable gas. I don’t drink anything carbonated, no coffee or tea, don’t use straws. It doesn’t matter if I exercise or not. Does anyone else have this problem? I had CT scans for a kidney stone problem, the only thing they found was some swollen abdominal lymph nodes and the stones.

Hi, I have a bypass booked for the 13/3 and I was wondering if anyone had made or come across anyone who has had surgery, preferably recently, and had made a daily blog or journal so you can read about their journey in detail from the beginning? What and how often they ate, how they felt, how many corridor loops they walked, their journey home.... Etc etc.

  36. My Bariatric dietician told me that whilst standard advice remains 30 mins of no liquid before and after meals, 15 would suffice and does for all her patients, eventually becoming 10 mins. What do you all do? Secondly, I know dumping is meant to hit within 30 mins (early dumping) but does it normally come on real quick for those who get it? Thanks all, loving reading the forum from start to finish!

  37. My two week anniversary today (lost 10.4 kilos since my bypass, 22.93 pounds) and generally had good progression over the time. I’m shocked by how little I need to eat so far in purée section but presume this increases over time. Biggest shock is how easily I cry over emotional or sad things. Cried seeing someone who I thought might be homeless yesterday. Not that I was emotionless before but gee, this has been a ride lol I have had moments of regret and realisation of what I paid to have done to me. I doubt these will Continue past a point but my mind has been my biggest enemy, the rest, so far, has been good.

I am sucking.. bad. I had a BC control change and it is the only thing I can think of that has changed. I ALWAYS want to eat, I am a miserable b***h right now. Don't want to be around anyone, just want to sit on the couch and eat. Which is basically what got me here int he first place. I haven't gained weight, but I haven't lost anything in over 2 months. I know it is because I am eating more, sometimes bad crap. I am really thinking about switching back to my old BC to see if it helps get me out of the rut! I still want to loose 40 more lbs to hit my goal and this isn't going to get me there...

Just got my surgery date today - March 29th! It just got very real! I'm excited and slightly terrified. Lol. Overall, I feel ready after months of research and reading posts on this forum. I'm so grateful for the honesty, support and encouragement everyone here shares. I have mixed emotions and almost can't believe that my life could actually change for good. I had honestly stopped feeling like I could ever hope to reach my goals after decades of failed attempts. I will be getting a gastric bypass due to longstanding GERD and hiatal hernia. So glad to know I have all of you to lean on. ❤️

Hi everyone, I had gastric bypass on 1/31 and I am feeling ok other than having a gigantic bruise on my stomach around my belly button. It’s about 9in in diameter. Also, for the last 2 days whenever I get up and walk around, I get very dizzy and have a hot flash. Is this common? Should I be concerned? Thanks for any advice.

  46. Started by bypass24jan2023,

I knew I would struggle to purée food myself so I found a delivery service and have been enjoying the food a lot, they have a Bariatric box delivery. My dietician approved (albeit thought I’d find the servings too big at least for a week, she’s right!) just using for dinner. Anyway link below: https://www.carefoodco.com.au/

  47. How many struggle with eating after gastric bypass surgery? I've followed all the instructions (ie chewing well, waiting between bites, etc), but can't hardly stand the taste of most foods I eat. I've particularly had problems with protein shakes, protein water and protein powders. Some days I feel like I don't even want to eat. I'm concerned because I never reach the amount of protein and water recommended. Will this ever end? Good news is I've lost 48 lbs since November 23, 2022.

Hello all, I am having my gastric bypass tomorrow. For the most part, I am calm and yes, a bit nervous. I just wanted to know what others who've been there what was your experience like on the day of and what can I expect after the surgery? And what was it like the first few days home? I know everyone experiences things differently. But some reassurances from those who had this procedure would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance for any advice.

  50. Started by LindsayT,

I think I've settled in on getting bypassed, so I'm trying to gather all the information I can. Dumping doesn't sound pleasant and I want to get as much information about that as I can. I have read sugar and fat is the biggest contributing factor to dumping. I get added sugar and fat, but what about items that have natural sugars, like fruit? Or natural fats like avocado or nuts? What about sautéed vegetables in olive oil? Or is Dumping more of a personal trigger? What are your go-to alternatives for sugar and fats (oils and butter for cooking) Thanks all!
