Has anyone had issues with Roux Limb Syndrome? I've been having awful cramping in my upper abdominal area (especially after eating certain foods). They've done CT, upper endoscopy, and ultrasound. They have found any causes of the pain. The GI doctor mentioned Roux Limb as a possibility. I can't find much that lays it out in simple terms. I don't believe this is dumping.

It's been just over 3 years since I had my RNY (12/31/19). I am so glad I made the decision to do this. It's not easy and there are challenges, but I feel so much better in my own skin. Stats: 5'10; 44 years old Starting Weight: 336 Surgery weight: 292 Lowest weight: 155 Current weight: 172 Wins in 2022: Last year I really wanted to focus on strength and stamina. I set a bucket list goal of climbing Kilimanjaro (I did it in June!) and spent the first half of the year getting in shape for that. That included regular hikes, but also yoga and strength training classes to build muscle and flexibility. I also did a lot of time on the treadmill at inc…

Hi! I’m 6 weeks post bypass and have lost 19lb since surgery. I’m getting 1.5/2l fluid a day. Hitting my protein targets and getting some exercise in. Why is my weight so slow? If I’d known that it was going to be like this, then I never would have put my body through a major op.

I have been going through the process of the bariatric program since January so it's about to be a full year. My surgery was originally supposed to be in July but the doctor's office screwed up my paperwork so insurance denied it. They were very dismissive and acted like it wasn't there fault but it was. They left out my psych evaluation so it was denied. I was so turned off that I went to another surgeon but couldn't schedule mine until December 28th. Now I'm a little more than a week away from surgery and on Day 5 of liquid diet but they do not communicate with me at all. No one even scheduled my pre-op testing. I have been emailing and calling my surgeon's …

Please please tell me this is normal. I've also only lost 12lbs in the first 2 weeks and now in a 3 week stall. I'm glad I've not gained anything cause i think i would be even more disheartened. I'm taking in around 700cals a day, getting my protein in and fluids. I have been doing light exercise on cross trainer but too scared to push it. should i be doing anything different or do i just wait it out? I knew it was coming, but mannnnnn... 3 weeks :(

Hello I know everyone is different, but I would really appreciate any comments as to when you finally stopped losing weight after your surgery? I am nearly 8 months post gastric bypass, but have at least another 2st 8lbs to lose before I hit my goal (my goal is to be outside of the obese category for my BMI). Whilst I would love to lose more than this, as long as I lose another 2st 8lbs I will be happy as my reason for undergoing the surgery (other than for my own health) is because I want to undergo IVF. The further out of my surgery I get the more I am consciously limiting my calories and food, because I am just so scared of the weight loss stopping and I…

I, 49 M, am over 2 years post RNY, and it has been a success story for the most part. Everything was going along fine, until just over a month ago, when all of a sudden I had severe reflux (first time since procedure), and it hasn't gone away. There's like a burning pain in my chest at times, feels like gas, right in the center at the point where the breastbone comes together. Had heart and lungs checked, and nothing abnormal was detected. It's not by any means crippling, but it is concerning. Has anyone else experienced anything like this? Thank you.

I had a bypass on 11-6. I eat solid foods. It does not hurt. I can eat 2 whole cucumbers. I can eat a 4oz piece of tuna. Am I just doomed? I should hurt right? probably eat 500-600 calories a day. only eating fish, chicken, and cucumbers. I crave them ALLDAY. so I'm not concerned that I'm not eating health. But why can I eat so much. Oh, I can eat 2 large scrambled eggs.

I'm constipated. Like really bad. I've taken laxatives (miralax, Smooth Move tea, milk of magnesia and docalax) for the last 3 days. I take a probiotic, Prebiotic, and stool softener regularly. I'm very bloated, some pain, I feel full easily, and just all around yucky. I do have very tiny poops, like the size of a small grape, but thin, like a pencil. This makes me think the laxatives are working, but things can move. Im also very gassy. I'm worried about a partial bowl obstruction, but my symptoms don't all fit. I don't know what to do. I'm 7 months post-op.

I survived my gastric bypass. I spent two nights in the hospital. Doing good on the clear liquid/protein drink diet. Dr wants 64 ounces of fluid per day so I purchased a bunch of 1 ounce plastic containers with lids and filled 74 of them and put them in my fridge and tomorrow I just have to grab 4-5 per hour and when all are done I am good. I am attaching a picture. I am bound and determined to be successful.

Hi, i'm almost 3 month out, got my Bypass on 1. September 2023, i Had a lot of problems, and a lot of ER Visits, it seems like the Exit of my Pouch narrowed down so much that i couldn't even Drink anymore, they Stretchted it to 1,2cm's the "normal" size should be 3cm, they Already told me i need a Second Surgery and one of my surgeons said that maybe the Doctor who did that did it on purpose so i would "lose weight better!" with a giggle, What an A-Hole. I'm kinda off all things i've read on that Topic, i can't eat any kind of meat or Cheese, it would not sit well and i will Vomit a lot. I Live after 3 Month, Out of Protein Yoghurts and Pudding. I can tolerate C…

I’m 12 hours out from surgery. Or at least from having to be at the hospital. Having some protein broth. It’s actually pretty good it’s chicken soup flavored protein powder that you had to hot water. My doctor ok’d it for the pre surgery diet. Luckily my program only requires 2 days of liquid diet before surgery. They used to require the two weeks but claim studies have shown 2 days is enough. Still nervous as I said in my last post because I am high risk because I have kidney failure and heart failure but everyone cleared me for surgery. They do think I will have issues with infection and leaking because I am on chronic steroids. My highest weight was 509…

Hi, I wanted to see who was having Roux-en-Y gastric bypass this October. It seems like more people in general get VSG, and we RGNY folks are on the fringes. I did a quick search and did not see a topic, so sorry if this is a repeat. I wanted a group just for RGNY because even though a lot of advice is similar there are some nuanced differences. My surgery is on October 27th I start my pre-op diet on Friday the 13th, but I decided to get a bit of a jump start by easing into it today.

Hi, I had my surgery a little over a month ago and just had two small stuffed squash with beef and a tiny bit of rice. I ate the first one thinking I'll feel the restriction and felt nothing, I went in for the second one and had a couple sips of water (I know I need to wait 30 min) but I feel fine. I think I might be full but I can't really tell. I feel satisfied but I know if I want I can more in and that's not something I want to do. Anyone felt this before. Not too much restriction after the surgery.

I did gastric bypass + hiatal hernia repair June 6. I have had very few "issues"-- a couple of "one step over the line," one incident of the dreaded foamies, but generally, smooth sailing. I was at around 274 lbs and now am at around 206-7, depending on scale and time of day. That's crazy! I look at the stats for how much folks lose on average and this seems to be beyond the norm. I'm not complaining-- I not only walk, but got into a rigorous exercise regime with a trainer. His focus, for now, is balance, and "whole body"--I do some weights but the "balance" stuff has been a real blessing. I have checked the boxes with the M.D.s- my cardiologist has no problem …

Hello, all. I have been happily using soft-chew multi-vitamins from Bariatric Pal for the last four years. I live in Australia and shipping has always been expensive but manageable. I just placed an order for more vitamins and three types of protein snacks, and the cheapest shipping option was US$ 225! That is way more than usual--and more than I'm willing to pay. Can anyone recommend a comparable product that is available on Amazon? Thanks!

I just wanted to express my appreciation for: The wonderful, supportive people on this forum. I love how ppl step up to help others going through this journey. Its as if we're never alone, a strong WLS community is behind us all propping us up and pushing us forward! Its been rather slow on new posts lately, so I figured now was a good time to at least say thank you to everyone who reads the posts and steps up to help others with their knowledge and understanding. I'm glad to have received advice and happy to help when I can. Thank you for making this life changing lifelong journey for me and others easier! ❤

I'd been eyeing this product since Facebook and Instagram started sending me ads. It's low carb keto ramen with 6g carbs, 21g protein and 890 mg sodium and 18g fiber. I found they sell them individually at Whole Foods (because I am NOT buying a $35 pack knowing there's a huge risk me and my stomach don't like it for some reason). Planning to run out to buy a pack or two tonight just out of curiosity and eat half a pack or maybe a fourth just for a taste (and also because it's 300 calories for an entire pack) But before I do, I'm wondering if anyone has tried Immi ramen and if so how did you like it? Did it have a weird aftertaste like a lot of protein infused product…

Hi All, I thought I would share my resent adventure in traveling after surgery. Husband and I spent the holiday in Maui. As we all know when flying there is that 3 oz limit on liquids which I was concerned about. How am I going to get my proteins, water, pills and vitamins all in with the total day was spent flying? Here is what I came up with before traveling and it worked for me. For protien: I found Bariatric Fusion sells the powder in individuals packets. I also packed in my carry on 2 One protien bars. I picked up a yogurt at the airport to mix the powder in it. On lay overs I was able to find a couple places that had healthy food choice, like the Grab and…

Hi all, I'd really like to hear only from those that have experienced similar feelings. I've turned to Facebook groups but only get responses from people that haven't experienced what I'm going through and hasn't helped. I'm seeing a psychologist soon but would like to hear from you. Bit of a backstory. I was so close to getting surgery a few years back on the NHS, my motivation was at it's peak and was excited to eat healthier. That was stopped as I moved and there's no support where I am from the NHS, in the meantime I went back to eating whatever I wanted and big portions of it. I managed to get approved by my insurance and it all happened very quickly and I got my byp…

Hi guys, I’m 9 days post op and doing great. I keep down most things. I’m struggling with eggs and getting fluids in. I’m wondering if I will ever be able to eat fries again? I’m a sandwich lover too so what about bread? Is there Bariatric friendly bread? also, I’ve gone from 117kg to 101kg in a month but how do I actually lose weight after the bypass? I’m still struggling to walk long distances without feeling dizzy and exhausted

Was given the all clear to try regular coffee if desired. Yesterday was my birthday and I chickened out of getting a birthday skinny mocha. Today I did end up trying a small one and my god. This is probably hour 2 of dumping. Anxiety? Check Heart palpitations? Check Nausea? Check General uneasy feeling? Check 0/10 do not recommend!

Hi- I had RNY I almost 5 years ago. Got to 132 pounds and currently at 144. I am freezing all the time. It gets in my bones and I often have to sit in a hot bath to get warmed up. I ordered a heated vest. I take a heating pad with me to places when I can. Does anyone who also deals with this post op have any advice on what they do or wear? Thanks!

Hey everyone! I hope you're all doing well. I wanted to reach out and ask about your experiences during the first week after gastric bypass surgery. I had mine on July 24th, so it's been 6 days since the procedure, and I've been feeling a bit concerned about my eating progress. I had my surgery in Belgium, where I'm from cause it's free there! Unlike most of you, we don't have to stick to liquids only for an extended period. After the first 2 days, we can move on to puree and soft foods, which is a relief. However, I can't help but feel like I'm eating too much already. Today, for breakfast, I managed to eat 2 small french toasts and 1 egg in one sitting. W…

Hey everyone, I just wanted to take a moment to share my experience and vent a bit about the difficulties I've been facing after my gastric bypass surgery. It's been tough, and I could really use some support and understanding right now. Firstly, one of the biggest challenges I've encountered is the loss of taste. It's incredibly disheartening to try different food and drink options, only to find that nothing tastes good anymore. I've experimented with various yogurts, protein powders, shakes, and even crystal light flavors, but unfortunately, the enjoyment I used to get from eating has vanished. Even something as simple as finishing a bottle of water has become a …

(Also my status update, btw) It's finally here!! My last day with a "normal" digestive system. Tomorrow morning I go in at 10:15am to check in, go through all the pre-flight checks (IV, vitals, sign consents, talk to anesthesia and my surgeon, etc), then into the OR I go! This process has taken what seems like forever. Way back in April of 2022, I saw a general surgeon to have a Nissen Fundoplication to deal with my (horrible!!) reflux and repair my hiatal hernia. Problem was....my weight made it so there would be a high risk of both failure after a couple years and potential complications. He then suggested I see a bariatric surgeon (which was the first time a…
