Post Op Coffee

Was given the all clear to try regular coffee if desired. Yesterday was my birthday and I chickened out of getting a birthday skinny mocha. Today I did end up trying a small one and my god. This is probably hour 2 of dumping.

My support group said it was likely the sugar content. Because my derpy self didn’t think they made a sugar free and they do ?‍♀️ I am scarred for awhile though.

It's an individual thing. I'm a bypass patient, and I drink coffee - and various coffee drinks - all the time. Never had an issue.

I was allowed on the first day, offered a cup in the hospital. My surgeon has no issues with it at all.

Really! omg. They said no caffeine... I even thought of drinking decaf but they said its high in acid

Yeah, since surgery I have 2 or 3 cups a day. If acid is a problem, I have read there are good low-acid coffee.

Its been 6 week's postop for me and I have a 1/2 to a full cup of decaf each morning with no issues! I'm RNY as well.

when did you start drinking coffee after your surgery. im one month out of gastric bypass and craving my morning coffee

I don’t remember exactly (I am 2+ yrs out), but I would say around month 2 or 3. I still find that cold coffee is easier on my stomach.

I use the 30g vanilla protein shakes as my creamer. My breakfast for over a year has been coffee with a protein shake (either vanilla or caramel).

My program says no regular coffee for 6 months. ? I am a huge coffee and tea drinker. I ordered a box of assorted decaf coffee pods for after surgery and I have decaf black tea, but it won't be the same. Everyone's program is different! I'll follow what they want though because I know they have my best interests at heart. I need to find a good decaf jasmine tea!
