Why do vitamins for bariatric patients (like celebrate vitamins) have such a high percentage of vitamins? When I look at the nutrition facts I see that most of the vitamins have a 300% or a higher %. After surgery do we need that high a percentage?

Sooooo... I have tried a million different protein shakes and protein shake recipes and have hated them all! I am almost 3 weeks post op and sadly have not been getting nearly enough protein! So I ordered tons of samples from different places and FINALLY found two I can drink, one of which I absolutely love! Vitalady's rocky road and the caramel latte!! The latte taste just like a cappuccino or latte you'd buy from a Star bucks. Gonna order some more ASAP! It's kinda pricey but I def don't wanna lose muscle or more hair than I have to! Gotta give this my all!

I am 8 months out and doing great, 85 lbs down and off all meds. Had problems taking the BIG Multivitamins pills. Diffidently did not like the gummies. Tried liquid Centrum, and that was good and very affordable. Now I can't find it any more at the local Walmart. I prefer liquids over the pills. I am now taking ReViva High Potency Multivitamin Complete Nutrition Tropical Burst Liquid. It taste good and seem to working for me. Is anyone familiar with ReViva Liquid Multivitamins. Continued Thanks, Lash

Hello I am new here. I am sorry if this is the wrong place for my post, but I was hoping someone on here on www.verticalsleevetalk.com would be nice enough to assist me in getting access to facebook.com from my school as it is currently firewalled. I am a computer tech intern. Just starting out. Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you in advance. http://www.laptoprepairlasvegas.net

Hey everyone! I have been on this site a few months and have noticed a lot of people that hate their Protein shakes. I have tried powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury and Chike and they are both too flavorful for me... By that I mean they are over compensating for what they lack. I do use the unjury unflavored to up the protein on Soup and stuff, but if a recipe calls for flavors it's Gladiator all the way. If you have seen my posts I am swearing by the Gladiator Protein powder from smoothie King. I know that Smoothie King franchises are limited, but because I love it so much I am g…

I have surgery on Thursday and have gotten most of the things I need to have post-surgery for convenience sake. I have sublingual B12 and chewable Multivitamins. My plan was to use Citracal, but II suddenly don't want to be crushing what is sure to be a nasty tasting Calcium citrate pill. It seems I have two main options: an order to Bariatric Advantage shipped to my parents' house where I'll be recovering or purchasing Citracal Chewable Gummies. I know Viactiv is a bad choice due to it being Calcium Carbonate, but apparently the Citracal chewables are something called Tricalcium Phosphate. Is that acceptable? If nobody knows, I'll try to call my hospital nutritioni…

Has anyone tried this from Celebrate Vitamins? You get it all in one packet to drink. Your multi and Calcium. Only have to drink 2 per day. For a 30 day supply its $44.95 They sent me a sample, have not tried it yet. This would be perfect instead of taking so many pills every day. They also make one with added Protein. Taking your calcium and Vitamin at the same time has been a no no....but you would think they know this...so maybe they figure it out. What is your thoughts on this? ENS Multivitamin & Calcium Drink Mix (Wild Cherry) 30 Day supply Created for surgical weight loss patients, our Celebrate ENS (Essential Nutrient System) provides a full…

Hi all... I'm new to the group. I'm 13 days out. I had my sleeve done on 5/17/11. My doctor told me to take the Chewable Bariatric Advantage Multi Vitamins, but since surgery everytime I take them I throw up. I'm still in my liquid stage (my doctor requires liquids for 2 weeks) and I've even tried taking them with a Protein shake. Has anyone else experienced this? I've always been a faithful Vitamin taker. Even before surgery. Does anyone know if there is a capsule or something out there that my stomach might tolerate better. I've tried taking my daughter's Flinstone vitamins, too. They made me sick also. Thanks so much for your help!

Hello everyone...My doc has put me on B12 Injections once monthly (partly due to the fact that I'm not taking my vitamins on a regular basis whatsoever...please..no lectures) I was wondering if anyone else has done any self-injections or had these. My mom is going to teach me, she's had RNY and has been taking these for years. I've been researching like CRAZY...I'm no chicken, but the needle is a 25 gage 1.5" long....gahhh!! (the pharmacist recommended it) I've read that its and intramuscular injection. I have only lost FOUR lbs since 8/3... I'm only 3 weeks out, I feel like I should be losing more than that at this stage in the game. I am eating what I should, drinking my water, exercising and doing my protein shakes... the only thing I can come up with is maybe I'm drinking the wrong shakes? I started out on Unjury and could not stomach the taste or smell so I've been using Six Star Pro Nutrition Whey Isolate protein powder for about the last 2 1/2 weeks. It's this one... http://www.walmart.com/ip/Six-Star-Pro-Nutrition-Decadent-Chocolate-Elite-Series-Professional-Strength-Whey-Isolate-1.5-lb/15724167 Is this one okay to drink? Hello! I am being sleeved in less than a month and I am going to have to start a liquid diet soon, the doctor recommends that we use BariEssentials or Optifast, both of which are $200 in his office. I wanted to know a couple of things Is Bariatric Advantage the same as BariEssentials? and Why would the shakes be so expensive at the Dr.'s office and almost like $100 less on the company's website. Has anyone tried either one of these products? Will the Dr.'s office be upset if I do not buy the products through them? Thanks for the advice!!

While I sing the praises of bariwise cappuccino that I have been putting with my morning decaf coffee, I began thinking that if I use one packet each morning (7 cost $11) that will start to get expensive. One packet has 15 grams of protein. I split it and put half in a cup and drink two cups of decaf. I like it but it can be too sweet if I put it all in one cup. Plus I get to enjoy two cups of coffee that way. So I have some S/F nestle chocolate breakfast drink (6 protein) and I mixed it with 1/3 cup of dry milk (8 protein) so that gives me 14 protein. Instant milk is cheap. I then thought, heck why not just do the whole 1/3 cup of milk in my coffee without the bre…

This is the first time I've tried some "food". So here's what I'm eating right now: 1/3 cup tomato Soup pureed with 2 tbsp medium salsa, then heated. On top I added 1/2 once finely shredded cheese (which is melting in the soup) and 1 tsp sour cream. Also added some ground pepper. I never thought I'd be so freaking happy to eat some generic condensed tomato soup but this is actually pretty good. Oh, and the soup is warm, not hot. Not sure I could do an extreme hot or cold yet. Just thought I'd share

I'm a little over 2 months post op and this week I've noticed my hair is falling out by the handfuls. Not just a few strands, A LOT! I've always had very thick hair and even my hair dresser joked that if I lost some I'd be okay. Well, I can now see my scalp. Is anyone else having this problem and what helped you through it? I've taken biotin in the past, and it did help, but I was curious if there is anything more I can do other than just wait for it it grow back? I've also heard some about Zinc. Thanks so much guys!Oh, and I've lost 62 pounds so far!

I was told to take the B12 sublingual pill once a week. I took it for the first time today and it took about 10 full minutes for it to melt. Is that right? I also noticed that the directions on the bottle said daily but I was told once a week. What are others doing?

I was browsing at costco this afternoon and saw these - wondered how they were? I was looking at the chocolate and wondered if they tasted OK. Does anyone know - if I purchased them and didn't like it, could I return the remaining shakes? My guess is no but doesn't hurt to ask! They have 30 g of Protein and only 1 g of sugar (and 160 cals I think).

I sorta think blenders are a pain to clean properly... but I like their ice crushing ability. What do you think is the most convenient, easy to clean, handiest way of mixing Protein? I never really liked using a shaker since not all mix that well (although it has been years since I tried this).

I am 4.5 months out and recently started taking a Bcomplex vitamin. I was taking just B12 1000mg but stopped that and switched to the complex B. Well after 3 days on it I was eating everything in sight. I had such hunger and I grazed all day long and could not believe how much my stomach held. I was astounded at the volume and so upset at the change. I had good restriction bf. I of course had a stall in weight loss, same 3 lbs back and forth and felt my stomach was back to bf surgery! I stopped the Bcomplex and feel a hugh difference in restriction but I do need the B's right? I was so upset. I'm also taking Vit C 500, bariatric multi vit with iron, Vit D3 and calcium cit…

Hello all! I need help in finding a high protein source that is low in calories. I am a vegetarian and, once I get to eat real food again, I do not want to use all of my calories meeting my protein intake requirements (e.g., via shakes). Is there a low calorie protein source either powder, liquid, anything! Thanks in advance!

I tried an 8 oz glass of Protein shake last night does my reaction make sense? Initially, I felt satiated and was loving the fact that I had absolutely no interest/craving for food, although I couldn't figure out why I suddenly was so tired (isn't protein supposed to give you an energy boost?). Then I kinda got nauseous.... I started belching ALOT (with a little "re-uptake"). Hours later I was still uninterested in food when I laid down to go to sleep. Normally I am not interested, even remotely in eating until noon at the earliest, but today I woke up STARVING! Is this pretty typical when adjusting to Protein drinks, or am I a total odd ball??

Every time I ask a question about them I get such different answers. My nut. tells me to take Flintstones, Calcium and b12. But some people tell me that Flintstones are crap. Why? I write to Vitalady and ask the same question. I get a form letter response that tells me to check out their starter packages at $231.00!! Plus I get a list of labs that RNY people have to take. I did not have RNY. Also I don't know how much I trust the Vitalady site to know what is right for us because they have it listed as "VGS" not VSG. So what I want to know is what Vitamins and minerals are essential to us and in what forms. WHY isn't Flintstones good? What do I need to look for in a mu…

Good morning! I am getting sleeved on August 23rd (yay!) and just have a question or two about the protein shakes. Am I going to have to bring some with me to hospital?? Are they going to have me sipping on them, or do they provide their own? Also, am I able to just bring the premade ones and sip on those? (I like the EAS carb control chocolate fudge ones..I think they are in a purple/silver box). Thanks!!!

Let me start by saying ..never buy alot of Protein drinks because your stomach can change at any given time. I began with EAS Protein Drinks, and they were horrible...I am a picky eater and drinker so you know I get turned off easily. My stomach has become lactose intolerant now,,,go figure..so all the shakes have ended, t I went to GNC store and I decided to try certain juice products...I tries Isopure alpine punch, alot of good reviews, but to me it taste good at first then it leaves a bitter dry taste ,,,,yuckkkkk no more Cytomax protein Tropical drink bottled - excellent -my picky taste buds loved it. Now I USE TO Have a terrible sweet tooth, but this product…

Hi all, I know a lot of people like the GNC Wheybolic Extreme. It is my all time favorite Protein, the chocolate has very little aftertaste and the vanilla is also a great albeit slightly bland flavor. Usually, it is VERY expensive, but right now they have it on sale for $16.99 -- this is today only, online only, and only for the small bag not the 3lbs container. I am using this since years - even pre surgery and I still love it. Mixes easily, tastes like light chocolate milk and has nothing like the bad aftertaste of the other Protein shakes. The nutritional info is also very favorable. It only has the good protein isolates (not the cheap protein concentrates). 60g …
