Dosages of B12 injections

I've heard of several of my co-workers taking the B12 shots but most are on the 1cc a month scription. I've just been prescribed 1cc every WEEK. Any possible explanation of why there is so much of a difference?

The stomach makes something called "intrinsic factor" which is essential for the absorption of B12. Your stomach is mostly gone. You need more of the vitamin than they do because they can still absorb some in their stomachs.

Thank you! That makes a little more sense. My co-worker is a year and a half post-op. So I suppose she is able to consume more dietarily then I can. And her stomach is probably a little bigger now that she is fully healed.
