i have issues with getting the right consistancy in my protein shakes. When I use Unjury and try and add yogurt or frozen fruit...my shake ends up entirely too thick. I also bought the BSN Lean Desert Protein Powder--Chocolate Coconut and It is so thick i can hardly drink it... i mix it with soy milk in the blender on the liquid option and it gets so thick and bubbly I can't even drink it... people talk about adding yogurt and fruit to their shakes...but it has never worked for me. What am I doing wrong!?

Anyone use the ENS - Multivitamin, Calcium, & Protein Shake from Celebrate Vitamins? I was just wondering about the taste? And if it was worth the price to buy them or just get the Premier ones from costco? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks, Kelly

I had my vertical sleeve surgery 3 days ago and am on full liquids right now. My problem is I can't stand the protein drinks! I don't really like powdered milky drinks. Are there any other options besides those? Or maybe a premade one that actually tastes like chocolate milk or maybe something that is like a fruit drink? Thanks!

My doctor said to use Bariatric Fusion during my 2 week pre-op so I ordered the sample pack from their website. After hearing all the stories on here of how horrible the protein is, I must say I was surprised at how much I like them (although you might ask me again after that's all I've had to "eat" for weeks and I might feel the same as the rest of you.. ). I have tried all of them except the unflavored. The orange was my least favorite. It wasn't gross, but it just wasn't orange enough for me I guess. I had the cappuccino flavor this morning and I LOVED it. I will definitely be ordering more of it and next time I think I'll make a frozen cappuccino out of it. I j…

Hi there - Just got my husband home from hospital - he is two days post-op and feels like crap. He underestimated the pain and the pain meds not doing much. I am having a hard time getting him to drink anything, much less getting any Protein in him. He is depressed and I fear he is having major regret. He won't even join this site for support. I think he is getting frustrated with me too. For all of you out there - how can I support him? He hates everything I try to give him to drink and he just looks at me like I don't understand. Any helpful tips on palatable protein sources, pain management, emotional support would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

I need help please (immediate). I'm suppose to be drinking this clear liquid protein drink (Isopure) got them at Hi-Health prior to surgery. Now, I'm 2 days out of surgery and these drinks are aweful. They taste like a dry wine. I can't get them down and I'm weak and out of energy so I know I need to get in some protein. As far as I know, this week is the only time I will need these and I don't want to spend a bunch on it. I welcome any suggestions. I have 12 bottles of all the different flavors of isopure and yuck, wat a waste of money that was. Anybody? Please chime in.

My dietician recommended Unjury Chocolate Splendor with Sucralose. I tried this morning and it was actually very good and creamy. Nothing like the whey protein powder. Mixed with 8 oz. skim milk it has 20 gm of protein.

So, I hate my supplements, especially my multi Vitamins. I have the Kirkland brand from costco and they are HUGE. If it was just that one pill, I could probably such it up, but as for most, they are just part of the deal. There is also the B12, my 2 "hair and Nails" (with Biotin) and then I take Zyban - those are all big dumb pills. I am also taking D3 and E but those are the soft caps which I don't have a problem with. Now, my main problem is that I really have the hardest time getting those big ones down. I dread taking my pills in the morning (but it'a not like it is better in the afternoon) because let's be honest, who wants to start the day gagging - or gag at any …

Just picked up some Gatorade G3 at the supermarket. It has 16g protein per bottle for 120 calories. At $2 per bottle (on special at Jewel) it is certainly cheaper than the GNC fruit flavored protein drinks. It seems like a good choice for me when I am out and don't have my Special K protein water mix with me (or a bottle to mix it in).

I have been a huge promoter of Premier Protein shakes and I just want to post this as a *temporary* retraction of my promotion. Premier has changed their formula, upping the cholosterol to 25mg from 15 and decreasing potassium from 650 to 500 mg. Now that in it's self did not bother me, however the taste is horrible on the chocolate shake. I have been in contact with them and they are sending me a new cast free of charge and I will let you know if it was a fluke. The customer service rep was very responsive and concerned and assured me that my comments would be forwarded to higher ups, but he did admit he as gotten other complaints, not taste so much as th…

So I got some samples of protein powder and today I decided to try the unflavored Unjury in a yogurt. I want to know which kinds i like prior to surgery because I don't have the money to spend on things I am not going to use. I was quite surprised by the amount of powder I had to incorporate in this small cup of yogurt. I didn't think it would all mix in. Should I be mixing and entire serving into 6oz of yogurt? The taste wasn't too bad, it did alter the taste of my yogurt slightly but not so much that it completely sucked. I used a Lemon Stonyfield, perhaps I should have used strawberry or something else since the lemon is pretty subtle. I just want to make sure I…

So I have been looking around at all the different protiens and since I have plenty of time to do so (3 months and 1 week.) been trying to figure out the best protiens for me post op. I have to be on Clear liquids 1 week, then full liquids the second week. So far I am leaning towards the Nature's Best Isopure clear liquid protiens for my first week. My concern is that I have issues with dairy. I can have dairy, just sometimes I pay for it...or rather my poor husband does. With all these whey protiens I am worried about gas and uncomfortable bowels etc (many times I get cramps ) usually I have more a reaction to milks and creams...cheese usually doesnt cause major is…

Anyone in the Dallas area like Muscle Milk??? I bought a 4 pack of it at GNC and after I opened the first one I found that it's not right for me. I can't return the rest since my hubby threw out the receipt so instead of throwing them away, is there anyone out there that likes Muscle Milk that wants these. Thanks - Tiffany

Okay so I'm experimenting on protien because honestly I'm sick of Protein powders! LOL I bought this New whey liquid Protein from GNC and it has 42g of protein in each drink. It's only 3.4 oz and I got the Fruit Punch one! WOW, it's STRONG! LOL It tastes like if you made Jello and just drank it before it set up! LOL I put it in with a glass of Water to see if that would help but it's still strong but not gross so I'll make do! I think I'll switch it up each day from this or a Protein Drink (made from powder and milk)! I also bought at Target the Archer Farms ceral with protein and I didn't like it It was an OVER POWERING Cinnamon taste!

If this has already been mentioned, please forgive me... I didn't take the time to seach. But, I have a terrible time taking my chewable Vitamins. I no more than swallow and begin to gag. Eventually they come up. I've tried with food, without food, little nibbles... I don't know if it's mental of physical, but they come up just the same. Anyway, I have taken liquid vitamins in the past and was able to keep them down. But for whatever reason, though I've been to several stores including ones that used to carry them... I could not find liquid vitamins for adults. So I checked out the infant vitamins to try to figure out how much I'd need to take. These are very concentr…

I have been studying the Acai berry for quite a while now and the benefits are very remarkable. First of all it is a super antioxident as well as a energy booster. There have been documented stdies of this berry increasing metabolism as well as helping the body decrease fat and increase muscle mass with exercise. Ok you folks know what you can and can't take so here is my question.. What are your thoughts on this and if it is such a energy increaser is it suitable for our needs. I would be willing to take this with my surgeons approval just for the health benefits of the berries..But like I said I don't know if you could even take this suppliment..Any thoughts???

I seen this at the store and thought GREAT 18 gms of protein and electrolytes for the early days after surgery. YUCK alert, it tastes just like a whey protein shot and you have to drink a lot more of it to get just 18 grams of protein. I decided to write Gatorade and tell them if I am going to endure that taste it will be in the form of a protein shot, more concentrated and higher protein. I was surprised today to hear from them and they are sending me coupons for any other Gatorade product for letting them know. Nice surprise.

For 28 days of 2 scoops for men and women 1 scoop may last longer for just one scoop a day. I use two to get 44g of protein.

I have been drinking the Premier Protein from Costco. I need to get in 60g of protein a day. I cannot drink another one of these shakes. Since the surgery, my gag reflexes have been on full force, including smells, yuk. My Dr. gave me the go ahead for bananas, now... I just need to GOOD vanilla, or unflavored, protein I can mix with yogurt and a banana. My problem is, I need a good protein powder, something that tastes good and doesn't smell. I know I'm looking for a miracle here, but I can't drink another chocolate shake again. Any help would be great. Thanks!

I've been reading through posts for a few weeks now and I am floored by how many people's drinks have "low" calories. The shakes I have (powder with milk) just the powder alone has 60g! Its the 100% Whey Protein AMP from GNC. It's three scoops and 12oz of milk. I've been drinking these twice a day for almost two weeks now and they are pretty good! My NUT says 60g of protein is exactly what I need each day!

I went to my post op nutrition class on Monday (I'm 8 days post) and one of the things I asked the nutritionist about was not being able to tolerate the chewable Multivitamin (Bariatric Advantage-Vitaband 1 (2) times daily). I started taking it the 3rd day, tried it twice both times almost vomiting it up. She suggested just waiting then until my stomach is healed and they allow for capsule usage vs the chewable. Great with me but when I asked when that will be she said about a month (4 weeks post).. I then said OK would it be alright then to take (2) children chewable flinstone completes OR the gummy One A Day adult Multivitamins in place of the ones I cannot tolerate …

So I have only tried the "bullet" type of clear protien (which thanks to this board!) I learned are not quite as good as things like Isopure, etc because it contains some collagen Protein vs. just pure whey. But my NUT said it's not bad, just not the "best", thankfully I really only have to be on clear during the 24 pre-op diet and for a week after. So not like I'm going to be drinking tons of clear protien. But I just wanted to share that I have sno-cone maker (it is really sort of a silly gadget that I got as a gift) but basically you put ice cubes in it and it spits out shaved ice. (Then if you were going to make a sno-cone you would pour flavored syrup over it.) Any…
